I have one quick tip or hack. When you're embossing on Vellum.. if you're using the Misti or one of the stamp platforms that have a white or light background I put a piece of black cardstock behind the vellum. That way I know that when I actually am stamping it I get all of the intricate little parts of the stamp because it's always hard to see where the embossing ink goes and the black background makes it pop. Also when I heat the Vellum I do it from the back side rather than the front. That was something I learned years ago and it has seemed to help with warping because I love stamping on Vellum and then I love coloring it in from the back too which is always pretty. Thanks for the great video, by the way. You going to save me a ton of money on embossing powders.
Justine Hovey, I put magnets on the bottom of my nuvo drops and add a metal joiner plate glued to the bottom of my shelf. They are very thin so you can’t really see them. Then I store my nuvo drops from the bottom of the shelves so I don’t get air bubbles in my drops
A quick hack whilst colouring sequins and pearls is to lay them on painters tape sticky side up it holds them in place whilst you colour and you just pick off as you want them thanks for the great videos x
I really enjoyed the tip on scoring the cardstock for extra dimension. Gonna try soon. Also liked using the color inks to emboss, that is a neat idea I would love to see more tips on being thrifty. Im starting to realize we dont have to have everything all the demonstrators get . Im trying to use what I have and make do. Love the coloring pearls and sequins.
Well these are beautiful. I am so amazed how easy the technique is and you get a very high end looking card. The lines on the white Cardstock blew my mind. I have some white that I had gotten for cards but it always looked naked, or unfinished no matter what I tried. It's so simple but so elegant. Brilliant mind !!! Have a wonderful day.
I may be new to your channel but I am OBSESSED!! Your energy, your clear directions, you techniques!!! I am binge watching!!! Keep posting please!! 😊💗🙏👀🤳
When you are using the MISTY for background stamps you can use Sticky grid sheets (double sided light sticky paper) to hold cardstock in place, as there is no room for magnets. Paper doesn't move so you can re ink with emossing ink. works a treat. Thanks for the tips.
What a great idea... the layering flower stamps. I used my set once and never wanted to use them again. Now I will such a simple solution that I made so difficult. Danke...
Beautiful cards. Just going back and watching old videos, love these hacks especially the layering flowers, just beautiful. Thank you for sharing your ideas and techniques. 😊🥰
Another way to color non porous embellishments if you have alcohol ink... put embellishments in a small baggie, add few drops alcohol ink, massage to disperse. Pour embellishments out onto paper towel or craft mat to dry. Dries quickly cause the alcohol evaporates.
I love your hacks especially the suggestions of using a 6 x 6 for multi-layered stamp sets and the scoring tip for an elegant background. I look forward to future tutorial videos from you. Thank you for sharing!
You can color buttons and ribbon and lace (which are porous) with alcohol markers as well. I also use markers to color the edge of an underneath layer to make it match, too.
I always learn from hacks & the comments others share ... more hacks would be appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to help all of us add to our skills by sharing what you've found works well.
Justine, Gorgeous! You said the Peruvian Lily was one of your favorites and I can see why. All your tips/hacks are so helpful. I'm really enjoying & being inspired by your recent videos & the crafters you're collaborating with. Thanks a bunch!
Awesome thanks, let me tell you about my boo boo, i bought a two step stamp set, lol saw a piece of the acrylic sticking out so even though i have eye disease i snipped it off!!! Well, that little piece was for lining the stamp onto the first layer! Oooops hence i never use that stamp
I really appreciate your tip on getting more colors by using a regular stamp pad and then the embossing pad. I only have silver, gold, white, black, red, and a small shiny pumpkin color for fall.
I love your video! I will definitely subscribe!!! Another “hack” is that you can color white or clear embellishments with sharpie markers as well! And I will go ahead and place them on a glue dot and then color them on the release paper before I put them on my project! That holds it in place for me!💖
WOW, that hot pink embossing powder!!! I LOVE that!!! Great card, tips, & inspiration! Thank you for taking the time to make this video & sharing it!! God bless!! 😊
I agree Justine - I was blown away when I discovered how easy it is to get any color of embossing. I've found that you can put clear or pearl embossing powder straight onto distress oxide inks without using Versamark. It's pretty great to match an embossed sentiment to a color in a blended background - and using pearl gives a lovely muted version of that color. I use the Sistema containers recommended by Jennifer McGuire for clear, white and pearl powders. They are large enough that it is easy to pour the powder off the project directly back in without any mess.
Yes, please more hack videos! I learned something today that I can't wait to try...the Nuvo drops with a stencil. I just got some new Dream Drops that will be beautiful on black. Thank you!
Oh my dear Justine, I've been doing most of these hacks for years! I've been crafting seriously for 30 years and was making things from the age of 10. However, I did learn something from your well presented video, thanks!
These hacks are awesome. I am retired and fairly new at cardmaking and enjoy learning from videos. This video is exceptional! I am so jazzed! Thank you for all the tips and the time you put into doing these. You are also introducing me to new products and how they work!!!
I know it's an old video , but time at home is letting me see ones I missed. You talked about about a picker upper , but you can make your own . Just get a handle ( like q tip and take off the cotton),and put a drop of tombow adhesive on the end and let it dry. If it's too sticky touch it with your fingers . Tfd
Brilliant hacks, some I knew, some I didn't. The one that really blew my mind was the dream drops reaction to black card! I'd love more hack tutorials, thank you for sharing them.
I've had a score board for years, and I like to think I'm creative, but it's never occurred to me to use it to add texture to basic card stock!!! 😍😍😍 Thank you for suggesting it!
Hi Justine, Love all the tips along the way, and your cards are beautiful, the best tip from you is the multi layered stamp idea 4 on one page, great idea, TFS, Cheers Anna.
So glad I discovered you! Wonderful ideas and hacks. Especially love going back to the basic ideas with scoring your card base. It’s genius... like wainscoting !
Also, when you are die cutting and there is space between images, grab some small dies of hearts, stars, etc and send those through as well. You can keep a little bowl of them, and when you need them they are there!
Gee, I really love all your fantastic ideas Justine! And I also love your upbeatness!! It's so infectious!! Lol Thanks for all your great hacks. Lovely cards. ❤️🌸

Hi Justine, II'm not only new to your channel, I'm a newbie at card making as well. So glad I found it AND I attended Card Maker Success Summit last month and loved your video.
Welcome!! I hope you will love this hobby for many years to come! It's so fun. Take things one step at a time and slowly build your collection is my advice for everyone! There is so much you can do with so little :) Heat embossing is my favourite!
Thanks. I’m so loving my new hobby and will take your advice to slow down and nit get caught in the “rabbit hole.” The Tom brand is new to me; is this a Canadian brand? Love those that you used in the video and plan to get it…here I go on the buying spree…as it’s quite versatile. Should I get it? Love the dies that go with the stamp.🤔🤔🤔
@@susanmiranda5177 The ton stamps is based out of New York. The stamps in the video are from a variety of companies. Which stamp are you referring to from the video?
Hi Justine 👋 I would love to see as many of your lovely tutorials as u can possibly post on u tube ☺️ I really loved to watch them all ......... Loved all your 5 cards my personal favorite was the vellum card thank you for taking the time to share 👍 please can you tell me what did you use to stick down your vellum thank you 🦋x have a good week Lin in South Wales uk
Thrilled with the hacks tute! Love the lily stamps and the stencil with smoothed out nuvo drops. Yes I’m so happy for these hacks as I would rather spend my money on stamps than embossing powders! (But I do have several though).
Versamark is the brand people used forever but most companies have their own now and call it embossing ink. It’s essentially an ink that slow dries so powder will stick to it. Then you can melt the powder.
Thank you so much Justine, I am just starting with card making so I loved your tips!! I do have what may seem like an obvious question but I really don't know how and I loved the way your sentiment die cuts were black lettering with white around it? It really makes them stand out. Are you die cutting in white then outlining in black with something? Thanks so much!!
I usually die cut one sentiment in white and one in black. Then when I glue them together, I make the black a little off centre so that it looks like a shadow :)
Thanks so much for sharing these. Some of them I already "knew" but had forgotten, so I really appreciate you reminding me and sharing the new ones. Great tutorial. Thanks again. I also NEED to have everything even though I can't afford it, hehehehe.
One of my favorite hacks is masking and paper piecing. It's such a fun way to stretch your stamps even further. I'm actually planning a video in a couple weeks showing this with Sassy and Crafty stamps! Thanks so much for your hacks, I'm definitely going to be putting them to good use.
Love the tips. Btw, I've seen a DIY for jewel pickers using the white putty like material that you can use to mount posters to the wall without leaving marks. Not sure if the price is worth it as an alternative for the Marvy tool but it certainly is for the Crystal Katana
Thank you for another helpful video! A hack I like to use for Nuvo Drops when you don't have exactly the right color is to put down some ink in the color you want and put a similar or neutral color drop on top of it! The drops will "wick" up the ink color and presto! the proper colored drop!
Great videos and hacks! Just a suggestion on the lily turning / multi layer / misti stamper ... I saw another hack a long time ago where if you position your next layer(s) at each of the next turn(s) you are able to ink and stamp multiple layers at the same time! Great for creating just the designs like you did, or on the huge misti, placing and stamping multiple cards at once! 😉
Thanks Justine for the great tips for embossing and adding color to embellishments to match our creations!!! Anything that saves me money is a great tip!!!

I believe if you have alcohol reinkers or alcohol inks, put the sequins in a small baggie with a couple drops of ink and smoosh them around to color
@@sweetboo1022 great idea! I use white typing paper (🤣🤣) under the clear lid when I stamp black on clear stamps-your idea is great!

If vellum warps, you can run it through your die cutting macine with a piece of cardstock or metal shim. A few passes will usually flatten the vellum.
