I use a different method to do this which I like and it works for me but this is still amazing because I had no idea and I have tried to do this in audacity with no success.
For me this is a double value video because I had no idea that you could use VLC to do different things other than just play media so thank you for the extra bonus.

Your title is wrong as you can't import MP4 files into Audacity. What you did was use another product to convert it into an MP3 BEFORE you dragged that into Audacity. So, you didn't import an MP4 at all. Did you "Mr Clickbate" ...and what's more, once you've done that, how are you supposed to put the edit back into the MP4 that you took it from? Hmm, real genuine intent there pal.

Tell me, if you have an M4A recording from an iphone or zoom, isn't it better to have it in WAV to work on it? For a podcast. Or would you do it on MP3? I always heard MP3 should be avoided at all cost for working on your audio.

Hi Josh, could you explain to me why Audacity has put it's icon onto my saved videos. I use AVConverter to save my videos. Is there something in options list that has accidently caused it? how do I reverse this ?
