  • In this video I look into how to use colourcraft brusho thickener. In the instructions it says that it can be used for glazes and printing. I try out different techniques and see if I like the results.

    I think it is gelatine powder, or wallpaper paste powder. Seeing the consistence I think the latter. Dont spend your money on this. Besides, the brusho effect is totally gone. Thanks for the video !

      Hi, thanks for watching. I would agree, it definitely feels like wallpaper paste whilst you are mixing it. I did this video a few years ago and have not used the thickener since!

    Just got a pack of Brusho and the instructions have improved, a bit. It certainly implies that it doesn't interfere with previous layers.

      Hi, thanks for watching. Thank you, that's helpful for others reading this who may just have the previous instructions. It seems a long time since I did this video. I haven't really used the thickener much since then.

    Thank you for sharing! You have convinced me to order some brusho thickner to try on my gel plate. Always happy to find new ways to use my supplies.

    Thanks Cally for experimenting. Have just started myself with Brusho and not got any thickener yet but I suppose I will in the future. The lumps were funny! And the Beethoven was inspiring in the background!

    Try dropping a bit on the glass -- then rolling it on the glass in a smooth layer with a brayer. Also, try dropping some powder on the rolled out smooth layer. You could also try rolling out the clear thickener into a smooth layer and then dropping some powder on.

    2:50 Thank you for demonstrating, that they mean sprinkle and not toss. :)) 💕

    I particularly liked the second generation print, with less colour on it. It left some lovely textures. I have a Gelli printing plate, on which I use deli paper, by placing it down on top of it. I'm going to get some thickener now and try this with my Brusho onto my Gelli plate. Many thanks Cally, very interesting.

      +Maggie Jones I think you will enjoy using it. I was advised after I did this, to keep the left over thickener in the fridge, it has kept well and is a better consistency now! Thanks for watching ☺

    I sealed mine with gamblin cold wax with my fingers. No brusho came off. Dried nice. I also highlighted some of the brusho shapes and the outer frame with mod podge sparkle.

    Maybe use a flour sifter?

      Maybe, to be honest I haven't used this thickener for a long time. Thanks for watching 😊

    Hi does this mean when you order the bigger pack. You are getting more colors.

    • @CallyLawson

      Hi Rita, thanks for watching. Brusho usually comes in packs of either 6, 12 or 24 and there is a wide range of colours. I buy my colours in individual pots from my local craft shop, so that I can choose my favourites. There are around 32 different colours altogether.

    I don't think this is something I would use. Not that, that matters. 😍 Maybe I misunderstood when I read about it, but I thought it was something for glass or metal?

    • @CallyLawson
      @CallyLawson  5 років тому

      Hi Elizabeth, thanks for watching. It is quite some time since I uploaded this video, I don't remember reading anywhere about glass and metal, but that would make sense. The biggest problem is that the manufacturer Colourcraft give very little information on how to use any of their products, which is very frustrating!

    That's an interesting experiment. I love the second print you made, is it called a dendritic print?

    • @CallyLawson
      @CallyLawson  7 років тому

      +Jillian Daly Hi Jillian, sorry I have no idea. I have never heard that term, I don't know anything about printing. Maybe someone else may be able to answer that one. I will do a follow up video on painting with the thickener and onto the top of it, probably next week. Thanks for watching ☺

      Yes, it's tree-like so _dendritic_ - similar to neural networks in our brain, where messages are passed between neuron cells using dendrites!

    It sounds like it might be an agar based product
