Since learning of John Piper I have listened to many of his teachings and am always left in awe of the goodness and faithfulness of God! People tell me, “he is a Calvinist” and I don’t even know what that means all I know is after listening to his podcasts I am given another revelation of the Most High God whom I serve! Hi Becky. In short "Calvinist" means that when God says He predestined certain people (the "called", the "elect"), and that He did so before He even made the world, that that is exactly what God meant i. e. That since it was before He made the world, it was necessarily before the elect could have done anything, like choose Him for instance. And also, anything good or bad, or anything at all. John Piper does not hold to everything John Calvin taught, but does hold to this what I've described, which is commonly called "Calvinism."
I should add that since that is exactly what God says in the Bible, over and over in many ways, I certainly believe that that is what God meant. May the Lord Jesus bless you Becky, God is good!
