  • The custom-created and tailored to Bronco B&O sound system was made for more: an immersive and pinpointed experience, lossless playback, and power without distortion. In our second video, we dive into the experience gained from the additional four speakers. Watch as Alec covers how to use the system as an owner and tune it to your liking, as well as goes over its support of lossless audio. Additionally, Kyle shows off the reference room, where trained listeners start when benchmarking a vehicle -- it’s not just the quality of the hardware that makes the B&O system an upgrade, but also the expertise of the tuning that comes with it. Last, take in Micah experiencing the B&O sound system in a 2021 Bronco for the first time ever … and hear what he thinks of it.

I've heard it's not amazing but gets much better when you turn surround on. I can say the Sony in my 2016 Superduty was pretty dang good but the B&O in the newest Superduty is awesome. They design each individual vehicle system. The Bronco certainly has more impediments to good sound than a standard truck cabin.

It's terrible, they messed up the sound in this truck. I'm opting for an upgrade which will cost 3-4k. It would have been better if they just did it right or charged for an upgrade.

@@TheVancouverJatt I’ve put in ~$4k in parts, ignoring labor costs, to make the right sound in my B&O equipped ‘22 Bronco. The B&O system is meh. Popping in speakers and a sub without DSP sounds meh with sparkle. Went with 7 Focal speakers and a 12” JL sub. Left the factory 8” to play 80-150hz (they rattle at 45-65hz). Setting up DSP sucks because B&O made the decision to run the B&O amp to only 4 of the 7 speakers (technically 5 of 8 if you count the stock sub). So the head unit drives the front center and two rear speakers. Why god, why… We have to install a modified harness under the head unit and run the three speaker wires back to the DSP because of this. Gods speed my bronco brother. I’m finally thrilled with the sound and kept all stock functionality, but it cost me days of frustration. I’m curious what you decided to do for yours.

I think the Bronco B&O system is pretty damn good for the type of vehicle it is. Not sure what the complaints are about. Once you set the balance to the rear a bit, adjust the EQ and turn on surround, it sounds much better.

    Just a theory folks…
Bronco Raptor owner here… Yes this is Good enough system for most folks that don’t really rock it out. But if you’re buying a bronco you typically are that person. And Ford has to know that. Which leads me to believe that the reasons why we can’t have blowout systems like we used to get from car makers are thanks to the lawyers and insurance folks . As a big target if car makers provided the system that folks like myself wanted, they would probably get sued by somebody for hearing loss. I’ve noticed this with earbuds. Especially Apples AirPods. Which I think there’s laws concerning decibel levels with earbuds Which would lead me to believe that large car companies most likely when they are negotiating with car audio companies there are certain volume limits, and how much highs and lows are allowed per research done and enforced by the lawyers.
Just a theory though so nothing for anyone to flame off about
BTW … the lack of good high table is horrible in my Bronco

  • @TheAhilis
    @TheAhilis 14 годин тому

I am a trained listener. I have designed and built recording studio control rooms and done quite a bit of stage/auditorium sound design in addition to car stereo design over the years. I listened to the base model sound system and the sound quality was below average for OEM base systems. Then I listened to the B and O in the Bronco...back to back with a B and O system in a Lamborghini Urus, and was of course underwhelmed by the Bronco system. HOWEVER, it's important to realize that there are a lot of limitations to the design possibilities when you consider the loss of important speaker locations, along with the other acoustic aspects of such an open vehicle. They only touch on this in the video...and a more in-depth version would probably have a lot of disappointment from the sound designers as to how little they had to work with. So I am saying the the mediocre system is due to the lack of possibilities for what you can accomplish with a factory system in a Bronco. (I mention the Urus because it that more traditional vehicle design, I know what B and O can accomplish.) It's still an improvement from the base model system to the trained ear. One last note: if you listen to the B and O system in a Bronco without the engine running, it will have a bit more distortion than when it is running...because the alternator isn't providing the full voltage that the vehicle is designed to run at. So be sure to have the Bronco running, if you're listening critically.

I know I am late to the party, but having been in several Broncos with the B&O system, I can honestly say, it's terrible. The bass is just weak and only punchy, it never booms, and it often gets distorted at mid-volume with bass heavy music.
A good sound system will have nice crisp highs, mids set a bit lower for proper separation, and booming bass with kick-ass woofers and a good subwoofer. The B&O system in the Bronco sounds flat, especially as compared to the premium Alpine system in the Wrangler. On paper, the eyes will pop a 'B&O' over 'Alpine', but the sound from the B&O just disappoints. I am kind of surprised that B&O would put their name on this system.
The only way to salvage this upgrade would be to add a powerful amplified bass tube to do all of the heavy bass lifting, cut the B&O bass down on the head unit, then leave the rest (mids/highs) to the stock speakers.

  • @TugHillGuy

I've seen several reviews where people have said the B&O system in the Bronco is mediocre at best and some that said it sucks. These reviews are worthless to me because all I can ascertain from such brevity is that the person doesn't like it or thinks it's mediocre for some unexplained reason. When somebody puts so little effort into explaining why they have the opinion they do I wonder if they even have the requisite knowledge of sound systems to offer a useful opinion. I would expect if they did they would offer a much more detailed review that might have some value to the reader.

One of the tradeoffs of car system installs is always soundproofing vs weight; more soundproofing will improve response and clarity, but adds weight to the car. I've ordered a Bronco with the B&O system, but wonder if it's still worth looking into adding sound proofing or batting behind speakers to improve the sound, or is the system as purchased optimized for the hardware that's included?

If anyone can chime in for us poor base system folks, please do! I am so surprised how it is even possible to have such a thin six-speaker system. I have replaced the front and rear 4"s and it made a slight difference (more clarity), however, it is so rough and I just can't take the lack of bass in the base system (Base by definition has so many connotations and for the stock stereo, one really applies). I don't want to go under the seats with some lamearse combo deal (not to mention, there is no room to do so, regardless). I also don't want a big box in the rear with my already smallish 2 door boot. I don't want to stack amps and preamps along the firewall inside or out. One idea I had is to place woofers in the 6.75 in the kick panels since they just don't seem to throw any bass, but I would need to amp those to work and seal the camber well, correct? Any ideas, suggestions? Could I get a similar setup to tuck in the stock B&O sub and amp combo deal in the factory back left panel? Of course, that ear panel from Ford is prob costly if you can even get it. Folks on Bronco Nation are prob tired of hearing me complain, but I am calling on audio folks to chime in with any and ideas. I know it may seem foolish, but I even ordered a set of 4" woofers to try out figuring what the hell is there to lose at this point? Could I get a hold of the B&O stock sum and amp combo panel from Ford and fab my own more powerful factory-looking, in-panel sub or will my simply crummy base head unit fold under the pressure? All and any suggestions are appreciated... really appreciated

There's a lot more to the Lux package than the B&O sound system. The Lux package is an expensive upgrade from the high package ($2295) so if you don't want all the other stuff like adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, Sync 4 with built-in nav, etc, then I wouldn't bother with it. Also, read the comments carefully to try to discern if they are saying anything useful. There are typically a lot crybabies who comment on reviews like this. I regularly see the same kinds of comments in Amazon reviews that aren't worth the space they take up.

What in the world is the purpose of this? I'm assuming that Ford and B&O are feeling some heat from the general opinions of almost every review I've read of the Bronco sound system that pretty much says they are mediocre at best so they are trying to make the case that the system just needs to be tuned. The music even sounds poor in the video despite Mike trying desperately to make the case that it's incredible.

When I switched to watching it on my TV with my sound bar and sub woofer on it sounded very different. I could really feel the base and spatial aspect to the sound. If I bothered to hook up my rear speakers and listened to it in surround mode I expect the spatial aspect would improve further.

Many of the short-comings are easily fixed by replacing the cheap 25w RMS 4" speakers with decent 50w RMS two-way 4" speakers (l/r/c dash and l/r pod speakers), and replacing the kick panel speakers with 80-100w RMS 6.5" two-way speakers.
