Wow the sound is so much different on the original arcade board! I play the game on emulation and it doesn’t sound nearly as good as this. Guess it’s good we have this document
Boss rush: 24 lives in 161 seconds Magneto: 18 lives in 138 seconds Total: 42 lives in 299 seconds Gotta hand it to Konami, they sure didn't water down their bosses
The sound levels are perfect dude, this is simply amazing. Now I have something to show people when I nerd rant about the PSN version's imperfections. ;) Thank you so much!

I posted this solution to MAME Testers but I'll share this with here; you CAN fix the music in MAME so it sounds like the video above: Go to the volume slider in the "Slider Controls" from the MAME tab menu: lower the volume of the YM2151 to 0.31 on both speakers raise the volume of the K054539 to 2.00 on both speakers Sounds pretty close to what it should be, doesn't it?!
I think this is game is hard to emulate when it comes to Sound. I mean, watching your playthrough from real hardware, the OST is smoothly fantastic, when i played on emulator and the music is quite crappy.
magneto says: here i ammmm my name is magneto the master of magnetismmm!!!!..... wait wait you are all here but no wolvie or cykie? what??? what kind of x men you are?? sniff... bwahuhuhohohuhhuuhuhuhuhuu am i not cool... (just remember dorkly when dazzler only comes :D)
I remember playing this game constantly at our local wal-mart over 15 years ago, then the built the new super wal-mart and they didn't take it with them :( no one that played made it passed the 2nd level cuz our parents got sick of waiting and would tell us they're out of quarters lol. good memories :) what's MAME?
@sadiq2008 For real! If emulating the game to make the music correct was too hard for Konami, why couldn't they have at least ripped the tracks and put them over top of the emulated game?
I made some auxiliary connectors to attach to the game PCB for the additional two controllers. They work in all of Konami's games, and some others from Data East and Taito.
I would PM this to you, but I don't think UA-cam allows that on a public post, but I just posted a solution to make the music in MAME sound like the arcade version if you look for my post here.
The cab or the board? The 4-player board is definitely stereo. We have stereo audio connected here using an auxiliary harness. The game uses the same stereo audio connector as the other Konami games of this era.
30 years later, and I still love this game.
This game will never get old

I love how you could interrupt the boss' intro and just start beating them up.
CakeMachine yeah it is hilarious 😆
NOTHING MOVES THE BL-
(gets lazered by Cyclops)
I never realized how awesome the music was - of course I played it in places that were noisy ^_^;
Suckmyballz Gameplays true!!
This game has the best boss music, hands down.
Wow the sound is so much different on the original arcade board! I play the game on emulation and it doesn’t sound nearly as good as this. Guess it’s good we have this document
It reminds me a lot of the music for Pop'n Twin Bee on the snes. Probably the same composer and similar set of instruments.
Boss rush: 24 lives in 161 seconds
Magneto: 18 lives in 138 seconds
Total: 42 lives in 299 seconds
Gotta hand it to Konami, they sure didn't water down their bosses
How did you know how many lives the bosses and magneto had
The sound levels are perfect dude, this is simply amazing. Now I have something to show people when I nerd rant about the PSN version's imperfections. ;) Thank you so much!
Imperfect yes, but still the only way to play this game legally on a console, though it is long de-listed from any legal downloads.

I still remember seeing this arcade back in the day. The arcade was massive, having room for 6 players and I'm pretty sure it had 3 TV screens.
The 6-player version has two screens.

Still love this video with the original sound. I remember it being so freaking loud in the arcade you could barely hear the sound!
Anyone else thinks Juggernaut with a dam Bazooka is just a tad bit of overkill?
The music in this game was so epic.
+ EhCloserLook
That's for sure !
It still is..
@@THE_MAQ355 Everyone says it but I miss this Konami. Their sound team made some excellent music.
Messy and chaotic, yet...beautiful playthrough! THX for the master volume, 'cause, oh how I love this OST!!
Was it really necessary for Storm to fall down the hole with the rest of her allies? I mean she can fly
I have great memories of playing this game as a little kid with my cousin and my sister. We spent many hours working that machine.
Wow this takes me back. The music especially. Being in the arcade...

GREAT 4 PLAYERS OF X-MEN ARCADE GAME !!!
"The X-men did a "Cooley High" on the bosses!"
Jason Winn lol damn
YOU ARE HELPLESS AGAINST MY POWER, X-MEN!
Dazzler? I coulda' swore it was Jubilee in the arcade version.
Nah. This is based of a cartoon that never got a full run. Pryde of the X-Men. You can look it up.
Sick screen capture
@sadiq2008 For real! If emulating the game to make the music correct was too hard for Konami, why couldn't they have at least ripped the tracks and put them over top of the emulated game?
I never knew why they made The White Queen a mid boss instead of the main boss, by the way what kind of SuperGun did you use for Four Players??
How were u able to do 4 players on a supergun mine only has 2 player contoller

awsome i'm a big arcade game fan and i hate mame!!!Dreamcast is in the heart of my jamma cab
Why can't you just let'em say "nothing moves the blob!"
These cooperative games were the best, but were overtaken by the one-on-one fights like Street Figher. Shame.
Four player was mono six was stereo
The cab or the board? The 4-player board is definitely stereo. We have stereo audio connected here using an auxiliary harness. The game uses the same stereo audio connector as the other Konami games of this era.
