Those were some innocent and simpler times. Stayed at the roller rink, 80's, 90's, 2000's, all the time. I taught my daughter how to roller skate, she's now 22. I love roller skating still. I'm 47.
I'm 55 and HAVENT stopped since 6 yrs old !! No one thinks I'm near my age bracket 👍🌝and I seriously think loving and Still doin all i LUV rollerskating drive -ins, 🎳 bowling, beaches, amusement parks( YES I go on all the rides that I always have!😃) concerts. Ocean at 🌙 night& the gym ( tho the gyms not quite AS fun as the others😃)picnics, plays, feasts, etc.. but I CONSTANTLY tell ppl it's ALOT better feeling to go and restart up the stuff you love ,all that's possible, then it is to think about it and pine for it , ( or DONT stop in first place) not only for the health benefits but it makes life a hack of a lot more fun w/ the thimgs u 💜..to look 4ward to again!! I'm going back to skating i noticed after I stopped skating I got old started to feel joint problems now at 63 years young I feel little pains In the morning when I get up I feel stiff until I move around then it leaves. . I need to get myself together! 0:41 My 39yr old thighs (in their current state)could NEVAH!😭 Back in the day my mother walked us to skating rink every weekend, AND after school we used to skate up and down the streets of my hood. I dropped my kid and niece off at the skating rink a couple of weeks ago, and when I went back to pick them up they said it was so boring. When I saw all the kids on their phones (including them) and so disconnected from one another, I understood why it was so boring.🤦🏾♀️

Asked some friends to go roller skating and their expressions were priceless. I suppose I will have to go it alone - this sweet 81 year-old lady has encouraged me to do just that🎉
I live a couple of hours north of this truly inspiring woman. It would be so great if there were more roller rinks. After our local rink closed, the closest rink is now a one hour drive from us. Rinks provide people with a fun place to go and keeps kids off the street.
@@TheBrightstar13 I haven't been to a skating rink since our local rink closed. We go to the park to skate now. There are two rinks near Albany that have good ratings. Guptill's in Cohoes and Rollerama Skating Center in Schenectady.
I'm 44 and tired AF. She's amazing. I miss skating. We don't have a rink where I live anymore. When I was a preteen and teenagee they had all night skate on Friday nights for the teenage crowd. We had to stay in the building until our parents checked us out. It was so much fun.
@@Apixi I've been thinking about it. I don't have any skates though. And I had brain surgery to remove a tumor a few years ago that affected my balance. I'm not scared to fall. I just need to be able to get back up lol. It would feel good to be active again. I have an adult tricycle now cause I can't ride a two wheeler anymore and I ride with my son.

Coupon Queen Don't be afraid. I'm 54 and I bought my first pair of skates ⛸ tday. I bought some wrist bands and a helmet and have spent the last 3 hrs skating up and down my 9 metre long hallway teaching myself how to skate. No one here with me apart from my cat. I've just learnt how to weave to the right and then to the left and back again. I've fallen over twice but I got back up again. Tomorrow, I'm going skating in a carpark with my daughters. I'm so pleased with myself and the progress I've made this evening. The last few weeks I have been a bit low in mood but the last few hrs I've smiled and laughed loads. So I say do it. 20 mins until 10pm so off I go to practise for the last few mins. Lo e from the UK 🇬🇧.

Oh My GOD!! She is AWESOME!! I'm almost 64 and I grew up skating on those SAME type of skates. I LOVE to skate still, and when I tell some of my younger friends I'm going skating, they look at me as if I'm CRAZY, including my son's who think I'm going to fall and get hurt, but it's just like she says... it KEEPS YOU ALIVE and I feel so full of energy after a cruise around the circle in my neighborhood... Youre only OLD if you feel OLD...YOU GO GIRL ❣❣💃🏽
Tell your "older" friends you're going skating and check their response. Invite them to watch you on the rink if they don't skate. Sounds like a plan?

Sunday night Skate Land 78th & State , Tuesday night Rhythm Lane, Thursday night Coach Light 103rd and Saturday night Skate Land Grandview. Like she said we had so many to choose from. Back in the day my mother walked us to skating rink every weekend, AND after school we used to skate up and down the streets of my hood. I dropped my kid and niece off at the skating rink a couple of weeks ago, and when I went back to pick them up they said it was so boring. When I saw all the kids on their phones (including them) and so disconnected from one another, I understood why it was so boring.🤦🏾♀️
I thought the surprise would be that she was a new owner of skating rink opened in her honor!
She is so beautiful. What a wonderful story! This is so inspirational. Skating is such a fine sport. I use to skate all the time when I was a young child in the 80s. Asked some friends to go roller skating and their expressions were priceless. I suppose I will have to go it alone - this sweet 81 year-old lady has encouraged me to do just that🎉
I live a couple of hours north of this truly inspiring woman. It would be so great if there were more roller rinks. After our local rink closed, the closest rink is now a one hour drive from us. Rinks provide people with a fun place to go and keeps kids off the street.

@@TheBrightstar13 I haven't been to a skating rink since our local rink closed. We go to the park to skate now. There are two rinks near Albany that have good ratings. Guptill's in Cohoes and Rollerama Skating Center in Schenectady.

I'm 44 and tired AF. She's amazing. I miss skating. We don't have a rink where I live anymore. When I was a preteen and teenagee they had all night skate on Friday nights for the teenage crowd. We had to stay in the building until our parents checked us out. It was so much fun.

@@Apixi I've been thinking about it. I don't have any skates though. And I had brain surgery to remove a tumor a few years ago that affected my balance. I'm not scared to fall. I just need to be able to get back up lol. It would feel good to be active again. I have an adult tricycle now cause I can't ride a two wheeler anymore and I ride with my son.

Back then my body was tight and rock hard! Since then many rinks have closed. And I got away from skating. Even at 63 I'm still in pretty good shape but I need to work on my core and skating will pull that in. Coupon Queen Don't be afraid. I'm 54 and I bought my first pair of skates ⛸ tday. I bought some wrist bands and a helmet and have spent the last 3 hrs skating up and down my 9 metre long hallway teaching myself how to skate. No one here with me apart from my cat. I've just learnt how to weave to the right and then to the left and back again. I've fallen over twice but I got back up again. Tomorrow, I'm going skating in a carpark with my daughters. I'm so pleased with myself and the progress I've made this evening. The last few weeks I have been a bit low in mood but the last few hrs I've smiled and laughed loads. So I say do it. 20 mins until 10pm so off I go to practise for the last few mins. Lo e from the UK 🇬🇧.
