I stopped skating after the last rinks in my state and the next one over closed a few years ago. It was so much fun for many decades and I miss it as well.

I take boron and magnesium! Take the weekends off of boron when pain goes away. Never give up! Just got some skates at 65. Ready to roll. Just retired. Haven’t skated in decades. Mostly as a kid with metal skates. Don’t like the new skates.
I lived on skates when I was a kid. The skating rink holds so many incredible memories for me. I recently found out the rink is STILL open. Do you think most of them are all young kids? Or are there older people too? And… Is it Like riding a bike? Did you remember how to do it or did it take some getting used to?
In the 1980s this is where you found all the black and white kids hanging out together in the south. Hell yeah. So much jam skating. So many Fri/Sat nights as well as all day in the summers.
Maybe they were at Moonlight Gardens in 1960, organist in pink shell, the dogs let loose inside while we waited in vestibule or parents to pick us up...8th grade.
I loved rolllerskaking when i was a kid and teenager, went every Saturday afternoon at the Jet Rollercade in Linden, Pa. Had my own skates with red and white pompoms on them and a jingle bell in the middle of the poms.
Skating was one of the best parts of my childhood !!! Every Sat we were at the rink and would skate ALL day!! Then hit Fri nights as we got a little older in HS. Oh the best times were out on the rink doing the hoky poky, WIPEOUT, and just the 80s music..Funkytown and Double Dutch Bus!!! Another one bites the dust, too. It's still fun at 54. I just really try hard not to fall especially now. Give me a pair of speed skates and this Mimi would still rock it today!!!! Love these memories and thanks for keeping lots of our childhoods alive and kicking!!!

I went to rinks in Georgia as a middle schooler and teen. That's how we spent some of our Saturdays. I was a really good skater and had the best time. I miss that.
@@rollerkingonce - Oh, I wish so much that I could but I've had a spinal fusion on my lower back and two knee replacements and I'm afraid skating is out for me. If I fell on my rear end I could hurt my back really badly. I certainly miss it.
I was shuffle skating in the 80s and I loved it. Got me some fancy speed skates.i was in my 30s then. Taking my kids to skate and I saw this. Fell in love with it right off the bat. Was so freeing just gliding around
I am usually nostalgic about the past. Fortunately at 48 years of age this is still very much my present. I am very lucky to remain healthy, capable.. and most important I remain eager to do it every week. Much love.

I remember skating back in the 70's and my hard contact lens popped out yelled fr everyone to stop and actually found it ! My mom would hv had a fit ! Also thought I had a guardian angel that day ❤
Pure joy! I was a regular skater back in my younger days. I was pretty good and could keep up with the best skaters in 1978. I skated all 4 years during high school and made true friends. I wasn't invited to parties at my Catholic high school. I was pretty shy and very insecure. And gained wisdom and inner strength and confidence by hanging out with my friends at Roller Dome South. Those days spent roller skating were the BEST of times for me.

Been skating 50 years. Yours are the best videos I’ve found. It gives you the sensation of what it feels like. Figure and speed skated. I’m 56 now. I live in Hawaii now and we don’t have an indoor rink. I come from San Francisco. Miss my skating friends. Closest thing to flying…especially speed skating. We would go about 40 miles an hour outdoors. Amazing! I have lots of injuries now but it was worth it Love love this channel What kind of camera do you use? The editing is excellent too! ❤❤

Hey, like it. Just good old school skating, simple rock and rhythm. Trick skating is cool, but this is how I used to do it. We even skated on wood floors and did the hokey pokey, and that snake tunnel thing. Good memories. Thanks!

He rolled till he passed in later late years . I never coukd skate 🤣 but I tried n what I did do felt amazing so I know y’all feel amazing riding in the wind free . So talented !

Back in the day (50 years ago) my friends and I could do ALL of these moves and do them skating BACKWARDS, turning forward, then backward again. I didn’t see anyone here skating backwards except for one guy who spun around for one second then he turned forward immediately. We waltzed, jitterbugged, and 2-stepped forward, backwards, and sideways. These people need to step up their game, however I’m DEFINITELY glad that they are getting out there, having fun and getting lots of great exercise. I wish that I could still do it !

I swear this dude is in a whole nother zone when he straps on a pair of skates, 🛼🛼 His skating confidence is through the roof and beyond! In Buzz Light-Year voice!!! 4:18 is the two minute interval for the crazy legs. These videos are the truth and I ain't going to tell no lie, this is fantastic to see!
I skated many many laps around that very floor back in 1978 and 1979. This was when it used to be called Jonquil. It was owned by Albert Couey, along with Tara Skating Rink in Riverdale, Big Shanty in Kennesaw, South Cobb Drive on Bankhead Hwy. I used to skate on Tara's Speed team and we skated meets at every rink I mentioned. I spent a lot of time at Jonquil and had three steady girl friends from there. There will never be an era of roller skating like we had in 78 and 79 at Jonquil. Never.
Need to take a road trip to Sparkles ! In my friends and I’s jr. high & high school days in the mid to late ‘80’s we called Skatin’ Place in Cincinnati “home”. We traveled around the Midwest for roller speed skating meets as well ! Sooooo much fun ! I still have my speed skates from 1990 🛼

Need to take a road trip to Sparkles ! In my friends and I’s jr. high & high school days in the mid to late ‘80’s we called Skatin’ Place in Cincinnati “home”. We traveled around the Midwest for roller speed skating meets as well ! Sooooo much fun ! I still have my speed skates from 1990 🛼

I just came back to skating. I use to be a diehard quad artistic skater. I’m so glad my kids love it cause I’m back in.
I miss skating, used to go every weekend to Rollero in Phoenix. Also went to great skate often and loved the all nighters. To bad Rollero burned down a few years ago
