Better Call Saul Gene Takovic and the end of the Breaking Bad Universe. Theories on Gene’s story and how Better Call Saul will come to an end. Please subscribe! - bit.ly/PetePeppers
Better Call Saul season 6 will be its last. With the show’s creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould both saying they are interested in making their new projects about something new, the end of Better Call Saul will be the end of the Breaking Bad Universe.
Gene Takovic is the identity Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) takes on after fleeing Albuquerque at the end of Breaking Bad. After years of practicing law under the name Saul Goodman his connection to meth kingpin Walter White aka Heisenberg forced him to flee. In season 5 of Better Call Saul Jimmy married his love interest Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), and her whereabouts during the Breaking Bad timeline is one of the show's biggest mysteries.
This video explains how Gene ended up in Omaha, Nebraska working as a manager of a Cinnabon. It explains that Gene's timeline takes place in 2011 or 2012, almost ten years after we met Jimmy McGill in the beginning of the series. It discusses the top theories about how his story will end, and all the important details that you’ll want to remember before you watch season 6.
In the season 5 flashword to Gene Takavic’s story in Omaha, Nebraska, we learn that a taxi driver had identified him as Saul Goodman. Gene called Ed the Disappearer for an extraction, but in the end decided to fix the problem himself. In season 6 we expect to learn how Gene’s story ends, and how Jimmy finally becomes the Saul Goodman we know from Breaking Bad. We have to guess that Kim will be out of Jimmy’s life by that time, and expect answers before the end of the series.
Let us know in the comments what you thought about the ending of Better Call Saul season 5. What are your favorite BCS theories for the upcoming season 6? How do you think Kim’s story will end since she does seem to be a part of Saul Goodman’s life in Breaking Bad?

Better Call Saul is a television drama series created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is a spin-off prequel of Gilligan's prior series Breaking Bad. Set in the early 2000s, Better Call Saul follows the story of con-man turned small-time lawyer, Jimmy McGill, beginning six years before the events of Breaking Bad, showing his transformation into the persona of criminal-for-hire Saul Goodman. Jimmy becomes the lawyer for former beat cop Mike Ehrmantraut, whose relevant skill set allows him to enter the criminal underworld of drug trafficking in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The show premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015. The show's fifth season premiered on February 23, 2020, and a sixth and final season is slated to air in 2021.

Something to hold us over until Better Call Saul season 6 gets here. Tell me how you think Gene's story will conclude, and how you feel about the Breaking Bad Universe coming to an end.
I think he dies. Or maybe Lalo gets killed by Gene, and Gene gets killed by some random life event... I have hope that season six will be AMAZING!
I think the easiest thing to predict is that Kim’s plan to ruin Howard will succeed. The fallout from this ruination will be Howard taking his own life. HHM is never referenced in BB, Chuck is gone, and Howard is so desperate to keep his firm that he tried to recruit Jimmy/Saul in order to keep the McGill name for recognition’s sake. This will be the literal death nail for Howard Hamlin.
My best guess for the rest of the cast: Kim, in order to save Jimmy’s life, will go work for the cartel under Lalo’s supervision. I feel they will be embezzling monies from the cartel and into Ice Station Zebra Associates. Kim and Jimmy will reunite in Nebraska at the end.
The only one Chance to end finally His crappy Situation is to Go to police. He has No Other choice. I think He will do a Deal that He Don t get too much years of prison for telling them Details of Frings Gang.
The great thing about this show is , that I have absolutely no idea love your stuff pete
Side note: Mike’s granddaughter will get the retirement home lawsuit money. Saul will find a way get it to her legally so the feds can’t take it this time. I think Jimmy will end up in prison.
The reflection of the glasses is really incredible. The ONLY color in the entirety of the gene saga, is when he remembers Saul.
And now, if we include the season 6 poster as part of the Gene saga: black & white Gene putting the vividly-colored Saul jacket back on.
@@Kongrisser or taking it off…
@@ericpaine OH SHIT I didn’t even think about that possibility
Homage to Schlinder's List.
@@rbell7666 Not necessarily. Many films have done it before like High and Low.
Gene has become, in many ways, his older brother, Chuck: isolated, paranoid, listless, and unhappily nostalgic, feeling powerless to control their future. Will Kim and Jimmy fall victim to the same pathological behaviors that affected their mother and brother, respectively?
and he is balding, Like chuck
Kim’s gonna disappear. She’s gonna move somewhere far away That’s why she’s not in BB
Holy hell, I never noticed that.
What happened to his mother again? I forgot
@@no1u521 Kim’s mother is an alcoholic. Kim tried to fix her but failed so she grew up with the mentality of “You didn’t save me. I saved me.” and projects her mother onto Jimmy. That’s why she tries to fix Jimmy. That’s why she didn’t dump him (yet) even though there were *millions* of opportunity that she should’ve dumped him for good (and she even married him instead. Wtf is this strategy?)
If gene is to hold trial in Albuquerque, I hope the girl with the shoplifting charge takes his case
That would work nicely into the timeline, too. She's a public defender, and wants to do more, but he either steers her away from that, or encourages her to become more Saul-like. Ends with a commercial for a lawyer named Beatrice D. Sistemm. Or Yuwin Yacayse. (I'm not a TV writer, in case you can't tell).

Breaking Bad was really good. I didn't think BCS would be anything special. But I was wrong. Very wrong. It's been a fantastic series (just as good as BB if not better), and no matter what happens in the final season I hate to see it end. If they figure out another spin off of the Gene or post-Gene world, that would be great. As long as they can keep delivering such a high quality product.
Vince Gilligan has so far been able to break my expectations. Most TV shows start off really good and go off the deep end because they go on too long. Gilligan understood that convention and kept it to five seasons. Better Call Saul breaks the rule of "prequels always suck", proving that they can work when intricately designed so that they perfectly fit in with the series it's preceding. Breaking Bad is like an unfinished jigsaw puzzle, and while most prequels drunkenly try to put pieces where they don't belong, BCS completes the puzzle with little to no effort.
Gilligan is a goddamn gem of television.
Way better than breaking bad. Walter was the absolute worst
I'd love to see them do a sequel that takes place a few years after breaking bad, the show can be in the perspective of an upcoming hitman and throughout the show the hitman slowly turns deranged
Agreed. I thought "well, it might be a bit of fun, but it's just going to try and be a breaking bad clone of sorts, with weaker characters and stories". Boy was I wrong.
I wasn't totally sold on season 1 at first. But I loved that they had gone a completely different route to breaking bad. It's more of a slow burn than BB, which was pretty slow at times. And it's more funny than BB was. The characters (the new characters) are great but very different to BB characters.
By the end of season 2, I could see it was becoming something truly special. And by the end of this season, it's definitely right up there, and maybe even as good as the original.
Better? u buggin
I'm hoping they do 2 full Gene episodes, one as the season opener and the other as the series ender.
Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to a few Gene episodes. I just think they need at least one minimum.
Season 6 is gonna be 13 episodes. Apparently 3 of those are going to be used for Gene!
@michael Riche ooh, I’m guessing the beginning obviously is one of them and the last two must be for gene as that will be the ending of sauls story
I was thinking the exact same thing today
Your thinking is really clever. I felt something similar where (structurally) the cadence of the Gene scenes would change and expand somehow in Season 6. We've been shown only a 'slow drip' of this time in Jimmy's life that it now warrants something more robust.
I think Kim has to appear in the Gene timeline. Saul ending up in Nebraska and Kim being from Nebraska can’t be just a coincidence.
Plus I think Ice Station Zebra is located in Nebraska, Kim’s favorite movie….
Omg we didn't think about that possibility you just gave us hope
Kim is murdered by Lalo
they gonna just full on have kim walk into a gene scene out of nowhere
@@iorilamia Hopefully
I’m sad and will be hella sad the day breaking bad content ends 😖
I with you 100%.
Anything that's ends this universe.. BB or BCS.
We will get a full Spanish Salamanca spin off.
Maybe years from now they’ll make a show about Holly becoming a meth cook. Perhaps a Holly that is in high school is tired of being poor (due to Skyler not being able to find a good job) and sets out to make money the same way her father once did.
@@GeneralSirDouglasMcA What makes you think that sounds like a good idea? It's a fucking horrible idea.
I really hope we get a full Gene Takovic episode, or at least half.
Season 6 lol..
If they dont do a full episode then shame on them
What if they went full El Camino? That'd be pretty crazy.
We just got it, hahahaha
lmao
Kim will go to prison in season 6, probably to protect Jimmy. That's where she is during BB and also possibly the Gene scenes we've seen so far. Gene is either waiting for her release, or she has already got out and he is not sure whether he can bring himself to reconnect with her - from her POV he will have just suddenly dropped off the radar. I think the ending will see them reunite but it will be left ambiguous whether she forgives him or not.
There's no way Kim is still somehow in Jimmy's life during BB timeline. She's likely dead. Or gone far away from Jimmy
could make sence, He is waiting for her in Omaha, And when she is released. They will flee to Panama, That sort of explains the Panamanian Passport
@@theitalianalien8477 why not? we never see any parts of Saul's personal life in breaking bad
I’d have to agree with the Italian alien, I believe Kim will be dead by the time BB time starts. Or maybe just ditched Saul all together when shit hits the fan and gets outta dodge
@@theitalianalien8477 Sauls seems a bit too happy in BrBa, Kim can't have died, he would be devastated
Missouri plates are good for two years so if the plate says 2012 it could take place as early as 2010.
I was going to point this out, too.
Ed says the lawyer got what he deserved, too (El Camino). Gene is dead BEFORE Jesse escapes & Walt dies.
Awesome insight
Charles Winters wrong. Ed said exactly this, “from where I sit you made your own luck, as did your former partner, as did your lawyer.” That doesn’t mean Saul is dead, it means shit hit the fan and he had to flee and change his name; and that’s his own fault.
Pretty sure the 12 means December
gringotroller Nope. The sticker is the year, the month of expiration is at the top left corner of the plate, at least in Missouri.
I like the theory that Kim is in Witness Protection having testified against the Cartel. It's her Gene sees as he calls the vacuum shop.
But don't you think he would be talking very differently? To me he sounded angry, not like he just saw Kim after years.
I think that’s definitely a stretch. Why would she be in Nebraska?
@@LesterBrunt He's angry because he was responsible for putting her in that position. Taking responsibility is Jimmy's largest societal impediment.
@@dennisboyle5487 Come on rewatch the scene, he is super angry ready to murder soneone just fed up with everything, it is suoer obvious.
@@albinodino5050 she was born in Nebraska remember?
I really love how they made Jimmy the main character of this universe
Lalo should get a spin off series where he reunites lost dogs with their families.
It really is a shame they did not give Lalo even MORE screentime to give him the respect he commands. HOW cool would it be to see all of the Salamanca cousins interacting together??
Tsssck
It makes sense that alot of this show is about lawyers and some of the most climactic moments occured in court. Jimmy should stand trial and it ends in a big legal battle.
Either a big legal battle or a major scheme, or even both! (like in 'Chicanery')
It ends with Jimmy either walking out of the courthouse being released from arrest & having won the court battle. You see him with an uneasy face (possibly even a tear) after having recollected and squeezed his way through witness accounts, long lists of evidences and recollections of the BB timeline. If Kim dies this would be a great way to portray Jimmy's feelings to that, having trouble speaking on that subject in the court battle. Anyways, Jimmy walks out finally free from the personal hell he lived as Gene-As we see his face, the camera pans out slowely revealing an ABQ view with the full version of BCS theme playing (similar ending to BB with Walt's death but that was not the theme). Or it could end with him loosing and being taken to a cell, where we see him for the last time as a free man entering the prison, and again, ending in a similar manner to BB.
ericb0207 then he gets shot by Brock after he leaves the court house, as he could never track down Jesse, but he can at least get Saul for helping Jesse down the path that got his mom killed
@@gimlifan12 idk if they will end it the same way as breaking bad, it will be too predictable. Plus future jimmy is depressing enough anyways
Gene is going to be seriously screwed in the end because that's been Jimmy's pattern through out his life. He just can't seem to truly win.
And when he does, he can't help but bite off more than he can chew.
Yeah he never really quits while he's ahead, like ever
This is true , and Kim is always there to stand up for him and swipe off his mess , as we've seen . Maybe that will happen in the end too.
I really really hope the prison saul is where he ends up. Living an above average prison life with many concessions, occupied with his fellow detainees trials and cases while having Kim keep him grounded with changing times and being there for him.
Honestly, now that we talk about it? I'd say thaaaaat's probably----no, MOST LIKELY how he's going to 'check out' in the end. Either the feds or a hitman empties their ammo into him. That's.. just how it happens in that life. UNLESS you're Michael Franzese where you can SOMEHOW walk away from that life and live to talk & write books about everything
I'm starting to think that Gene/Saul is going do one last con that is going to solve the problem of Jeff the cab driver. What that will be, I don't know, but Saul doesn't call himself the Magic Man for nothing.
I can see that definitely
Pay some one to send him to Belize...
@@goldenbear8250 Or Jimmy might end up going to Belize himself.
@@goldenbear8250 I would love Jimmy to go to Belize. He said in season 1 that it’s impossible for him to go to Belize since he can never leave the godforsaken wasteland that is America. Now he is in the godforsaken wasteland that was Omaha. His character arc would be completed if he get to leave the wasteland and go to Belize.
I can't shake this feeling that Jeff the cab driver has connections to people who will.. try bringing the REPERCUSSIONS on Jimmy ONLY for both Kim AND Jimmy to turn the tables on Jeff's possible connections... NOW that is PROVIDED Kim is still going to be present or return at all in the Gene timeline
Bob Odenkirk's acting deserves every award there is, simply astonishing.
I live in Nebraska. The "12" on the sticker represents the month (December) the plates will expire. The color of the sticker indicates the year it was issued.

I really hope they make a movie to finish off Gene's story. He deserves more than a couple of episodes. Now that they have tried it with el camino i hope they repeat the success.
Edit. Gene's story.

I was searching for this episode aster S6E10 aired yesterday. I was not able to follow it and was looking for reason of this episode. This recap made so much sense now.
Your analysis and prediction was absolutely spot on.
as you suggest, an entire episode devoted to gene would be excellent, great vid btw
It's also worth thinking about what the cab driver's intentions are (if any), for example if he's an undercover or looking to coerce Jimmy with the threat of turning him to the police or if hes just some weirdo.
All good things have to come to an end, but damn this has to be one of the best series ever created.
Just as in Breaking Bad, nearly every character has depth, a history and their own motivations and you see them good and bad. The casting is perfect and the stories are unlike any you'll see anywhere else.
amazing video... needed this since long
Wow Pete - well done - thanks.
Appreciate your work.
What an amazing show.
Great video loved this! We had several interviews as well you may want to check out, with Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn & Dave Porter.
To me the end would be Gene rewatching his commercials when he was Saul Goodman, seeing how little by little the videos go bad until they completely die out. Once he realizes the tapes are completely destroyed that's when he finally accepts that Saul Goodman persona is finally over.
Kim puts her hand on his shoulder saddened about how Jimmy realizes and accepts the end of Saul Goodman. She was always there.
That's the crazy way I would like to see it end.
I love that.....or Gene goes in to his bedroom and Kim is there, as he walks over to her we see that she is disabled and thats why we never saw her in BB. Jimmy never seemed to have any action with the ladies in BB so maybe she was there the whole time too.....idk

Great video, man. I needed by BCS fix.

Yay!! More BCS content! Thanks Pete!
Lalo is going to kill Kim, Jimmy gets revenge on Lalo and thats why he was asking Jessie and Walt if they were Lalo's guys in that scene in BB
Jimmy would be devastated if Kim died. They would have to make a compelling case for him getting over it by the time we meet him in Breaking Bad.
Based on what the season 5 finale implied, I have reason to believe that Kim herself may even be more morally compromised than Jimmy. Because throughout the series, maybe because it's too early to tell, Saul Goodman doesn't appear to be the man Jimmy McGill becomes but rather the shield that he uses to protect himself from feeling guilty about the consequences of his actions (all of us can be wrong because the writers themselves are still plotting at this period for the very last season of this wonderful universe)
Peter Peppers thats where I disagree. I personally lost a very loved one, and life must go on. You continue your job, you are the same silly person, you continue to smile to people, you continue to laugh. No need to be depressed or to live too seriously when you lost a loved one, otherwise welcome to hell.
Mike kills Lalo
You didn’t even mention the fact that Kim wexler is originally from red cloud, Nebraska. This was revealed in a black and white scene of her own standing outside of her junior high. It’s very possible she made her way back to Nebraska after her and jimmy split before breaking bad. And after mr. takovich is outed Saul will reach out to Kim one last time before he meets some sort of fate
They could take this so many different directions that it's crazy. Let's just hope it's satisfying whichever way things go. I cannot wait to find out!
Awesome!! Great perspective on the series and characters.
8:11 Gene is putting up the schedule for next week, so we get a peek at some dates. Sunday is the 27th of the current month, which has 31 days. The coming Friday is the 1st. In 2012, it would have to be May, going into June. If we take a look at 2011, that opens up the possibility of March, going into April. It's not entirely impossible to see snow in Omaha in late May, but it's much more likely to be late March, 2011.
He's going to see Huell and tell him it's okay to leave the house now because Walt is dead.
Perfect ending might be: Jimmy ends up in prison (for whatever reasons) back in Albuquerque, and Christie Esposito, the gal he gave the pep talk to...ends up being his lawyer, and every bit Saul Goodman's equal. That, I think, is real justice for Jimmy....
1:12 Peter Gould has said that all of the scenes take place after El Camino. And that makes a lot of sense because he clearly spent more than 6 months in Omaha by the time we see him in the pilot.
What is ‘the pilot’. Is it a reference to the first episode of BB or does it have another meaning? Thanks
@@Alanhardman69420 I mean in the pilot of Better Call Saul

Even if this is the end of the Breaking Bad universe, I'd love to see another story completely unrelated with a new cast of characters set in that universe.
Maybe a bunch of teenagers finds Walt's money now that it's a local legend. I'd love to see a different story being told around that money.

Yay more better call Saul videos!
Have a couple more I will be making over the next couple months. Not a great time for them since the next season is so far away.
I see how Walter White dying came across as a little positive, if that is possible, and I think Jimmy/Saul going to prison could be portrayed the same. I think it is best if he has one final meeting with Kim and tells her honestly that he was the worst thing that ever happened to her, but she was the best thing that ever happened to him. then, he can turn himself in.
I actually live in Nebraska and the number on the license plates is in reference to months. So the 12 is December, the year is delineated by the color of the sticker, which can’t be determined here because the scene was shot in black and white. The producers of the show probably didn’t know that so the 12 could still be the year in the universe of the show!
Or they DID know but expected most viewers would be diverted - that could open things up
I think it is very likely that Jimmy gets a redemptive happy ending. Walter White, like Hamlet or Erwin in AoT, is redeemed through death due to his selfish actions masked by caring for his family and Jesse. Characters like Jesse, who, while having done terrible things, get redeemed through living in a virtuous way in the end. One could not imagine a situation where, after all the suffering and tribulation Jimmy goes through, that post time skip he ends up with a Walter ending. It doesn't make dramatic sense. Even though, yes, this universe is cruel and good people get harmed, at the root of it is still traditional Shakespearean dramatic conventions.
That's why you know Walt is going to die before he does, you know Hank (a martyrdom; tragic character that volunteers his life for justice) is going to die before he does, and you probably had the feeling that Jesse would go free as it is destined. Things don't always go like this in the real world but fiction is meant to show the ideal... the course of action meant to reflect a character's true potential and destiny. Jimmy's destiny is redemption.
People often think what makes these new shoes great is the subversion of conventional dramatic tropes, but it is in fact the opposite. It is in fact how they deal with these tropes that makes the shows both shocking and yet somehow predictable. The reveal of the poison Lily at the end of season 4 is shocking, and yet fully in line with Walt's character and developing motives. The Red Wedding was shocking but in retrospect follows history and natural course of drama. Jimmy will live. The Kim question is a different one, but Jimmy lives after Saul dies.
Total agreement. The biggest question is Kim. I believe Jimmy is somehow redeemed, but the Kim storyline has so many possibilities, and bad ones at that.
Placing the sponsored ad in the middle of the video was genius.
I kinda think we will see that scene where it’s Walt & Jesse having Gene kneeling in front of a hole to scare him into more creative ways to help Badger. Except it won’t be them, it will be one of the scary people that Saul represented in the past.
"It was Ignatio!! Lalo didn't send you?"
“I’m gonna fix this myself” can't possibly mean anything except that Gene intends to kill the cabbie.
Either that or he’ll use his rhetoric abilities to convince him to shut up.
No, he's going to put that cabbie in his trick bag. Saul manipulates, he doesn't kill. I could tell you ways to do it, but Saul will likely figure out something I wouldn't have.
Saul's first murder would be one of the worst ways to end the timeline I can possibly imagine. Please no
@@dandavis8300 Agree. Saul is going "work his magic" on the cab driver.
He fixed those kids who mugged him without killing them. That's more Saul's style.
They need to bring back Kuby. They should have done it already. I'm sure Bill Burr would leap at the chance to play him again.
I've no idea what's going to happen but I think you're probably right about the phone call on November 12th being from Kim. It's also an interesting idea that she could be in hiding or something. I can't wait for Season 6!
Not sure who else the call could be at that point.
Not Kim, to me it's either Bill Oakley or that girl Kristy Esposito, how fitting would that be...
By the time Breaking Bad starts? IT IS theoretically possible that Francesca forgot about Kim considering they don't have many interactions with the exception of when she first got hired. WHICH? It would explain why Francesca would seem... dismissive and... surly about "IF it doesn't ring on the dot? I'm OUT!!!"
Know what would be funny?? IF Kim was a LIIIITTLE bit late to call and Francesca DOES walk out and like "well, I'm outta here!!!" Kim JUST misses her by.. thirty seconds and ALLLLL is.. a WRENCH in her and Jimmy/Saul's last operation!!!
Was Jeff’s spotting Gene at the mall a second chance meeting, or did Jeff hunt down info on Gene after the cab ride to find out where he worked? If it’s the latter, Jeff likely has extortion in mind (which is probably what Gene thought when he changed his mind over the phone with Ed the Disappearer.) Remember, the Omaha metropolitan area has over 1 million people, so a second chance meeting is quite a coincidence. Though if Jeff had seen Gene before at the Cinnabon, then just remembered that after the cab ride, that might not seem as unlikely as a second chance meeting.
Great video!
I want a Lalo Salamanca Spin-off
There's going to be a Gene film, one can only hope.
no just any Albuquerque air fresher, but one from the Albuquerque Isotopes. the minor league ball club changed their name after a certain episode of the Simpsons

A man walks down a winter street. We don't see him, only see his feet at ground level. He walks with determination, maneuvering the many icy patches that canvas the sidewalk. We don't know where he's going, only that his steps and cadence slightly increase, his temp becomes precarious. We're suddenly in supper slow-motion, the camera pans to the late afternoon sky overhead, the man's airborne feet and suspended in space.
He's filled with... *determination*
I feel like Kim meets the worst kind of end. Saul in BCS, even after the desert, is not as craven a coward as he is in BB. I think whatever happens to Kim breaks him completely. And I think her presence in his life allowed him to supress his feelings about Chuck. I see a full on meltdown coming in season 6, where 2 tragedies are compounded.
I don't think Kim's death alone is enough to turn him into someone who has compassion and empathy into someone who recommends trips to Belize as the solution to every problem in BB. It would have to be something rooted in deception and betrayal.
Agreed, that makes sense and if something bad will happen to Kim or they just break up, this will create the Saul that we know from breaking bad
@@trueneutral3092 I guess we will find out, but I don't think Jimmy had all that much empathy really.
@@admerin6961 All those years he cared for Chuck? All that elder law?
@@tanakeilidh384 I guess I see all that as him trying to impress Kim, and trying to go against his nature to please his brother. I feel like he fought his true nature for years, and lost. I also feel like a lot of what he does that may be viewed as good, when you really look at it, is more a result of his need to win no matter what he has to do to win. I like him as a character, but I don't feel like he is a good person, well, a goodish person maybe, but definately not a moral person, and ultimately a selfish person. He acts good so he can impress Kim because he wants her, he hides all the shady things he does because he knows they are wrong, but knowing they are wrong doesn't stop him from doing them. Doesn't even slow him down.
Great analysis. I feel that the perfect ending scene for the show would be the moment, when he first comes in contact with Jesse and Walter and then cut to black. And then a final Gene scene how ever that plays out. But as Mike Ehrmentraut puts it in the trailer: "Whatever happens next, it's not gonna be what you think."
Gene moves to Belize. There ... someone had to say it.
That or... he drives himself there. Gene is a lonely shadow of his former self, living in constant fear. He can't trust anyone, and there's no path back to his glory days as Saul.
Maybe he sends that can driver to Belize... more realistic.
@Magic Cookies this isn't Jimmy anymore, remember, this is Saul, and he's been through a lot of shit... and yeah he might not do it, but hella he'll pay for someone to do it... Hence send him to Belize..
when I tell people Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad they think I'm nuts, but Breaking Bad really took its interesting as well truly DARK twist with the appearance of SAUL Goodman, who brought with him to Breaking Bad, Huell, Mike, Gus Fring, Bill Burr, The Salamanca Cousins, to Me in an abstract sense, it's as if they had written Better Call Saul before Breaking Bad, both are worthy of binging an infinite number of times,, I've done it 3 times since the Covid bullshit started, and not once felt bored, that's what makes any movie, tv-show GREAT, as if you could stop watching GOODFELLAS anytime it pops up whiles surfing, HANK's character is the most obnoxious of them all, he was a great cop with a horrible inferiority complex
I hope they have a video of them sitting at the table reading the last script of the last season to see their reaction...like they did when the cast of the game of thrones read theres and the reactions
I'll be very impressed if they mention music, events, or issues that were prevalent or highly discussed hot topics in 2011 or 2012 in the Gene timeline!!! For instance? When everyone thought the world was going to come to an end in 2012, it would be an interesting mirror to real life present day seeing we're in a pandemic. AND considering the world has been rocky for Kim and Jimmy's lives
Apparently trailer for DARK will release tommorow! Looking forward to your breakdown!
Yeah, I will be waiting for that to come out. Breakdown will follow.
I'm inclined to think at this point that Gene does, ultimately from depression, paranoia, loneliness, regret, etc., as these are the traits that are clearly consuming him throughout all these flash-forward scenes. Of particular note is that he has to be hospitalised, and he was only fortunate because he was found unconscious at work. He obviously is living on his own and needs to stay very low , more so that he has been recognised by the cab driver. I don't think he sees the gesture as a fallback plan in case his hideout and fake.identity becomes exposed. He has more cause to worry in fear that the feds could be led straight to him in exchange for a reward. He's going to lose it, mentally.
who’s here in 2021 still waiting for season 6...
I've always had the thought that maybe Saul would do one last trial for Skylar because at the end of Breaking Bad she is still pretty much being watched by the police and we never really get a conclusion for the white family. Could be a ton of holes in that theory but it's still a fun idea.
Only problem with that theory is everyone hates Skylar 😆
Agree that the “justice for Jimmy” comment seems telling for what to expect. Same interview hinted that Jimmy & Kim weren’t good for each other, which makes a happy reunion unlikely. Trying to recall - did Jimmy ever have a direct hand in killing anyone? He suggested for Badger & Jesse (neither happened) but the one time he picked up a gun - in “Bagman” - he quickly threw it down. If he’s not a killer, do his crimes deserve death? Jail seems more likely but I’d expect it to come about in some unconventional way.
No crime deserves a death sentence. Rehabilitation >> Punishment
Eric Moreira On Gilligan’s (& Gould’s) Island though, many of those killed were first killers. There are exceptions, but the sense is that Walt, Gus, Mike & the Salamancas got what they had coming. I don’t think Jimmy’s offenses rise to that level.
Please wrap up the Huell timeline...legend says he is still sitting in that apartment.
The "air freshener" from the upcoming promo om 5/9/2022
Big fan, Pete. BTW its TAKAVIC, we've seen it spelled that way in the show... 🙂
Maybe others have mentioned this, but here goes. Is it possible the Gene scenes are all taking place before Walt dies?
This would also mean that Todd/Uncle Jack's gang would be still at large, and could still pose a possible threat to Gene's life. They could be looking for him, or also have connections who might be
trying to locate where Gene is. Bit of a long shot I know.
On the other hand, Gene does appear older, which could suggest its the following winter after walt passes.
This is not the end, this is the beginning
We need a Micheal ehrmantrout prequal series !!! Rookie Mike on the beat in the 1970s
Bet there's gonna be a movie after the BCS series and it's going to be all about Gene.
I'd like to see "Gene" set up the taxi driver and skip town and let him take a fall
Thats awesome
what does take a fall mean ?
Yup, he said I'd handle it.. I was thinking he or he pays someone to send him to Belize...
I honestly think a better ending would reveal that James went in hiding for no reason. Think about it. He’s being overly paranoid. There’s no way any police agency is after him. I believe El Camino even spotlighted that as when the police are looking for Jessi they never bring up Saul Goodman at all in the man hunt. Second of all the people so Goodman helped as a lawyer or a long dead or gone in binding, third off he also had Francesca help destroyed all the evidence and his crew where small town crooks. I think it would be a fascinating idea if the twist was he destroyed his life being a high-end attorney for literally nothing. It surely makes more sense than being prosecuted magically without ever ones being mentioned by police or the feds.
Walt might be still alive, you never know!
I'm scared of the idea of watching Gene die
6:47 end of ad
Half of the final episode will be black and white and the second half, when he reunites with Kim is when it turns to colour. Other than that I don't know how they will wrap this show up.
Pete has a great speaking voice.
I binged watch BB and when I saw Better Call Saul i was so happy that they made a separate series dedicated for him. 😭 Best shows ever.
I didn't realize this, but if James Sauliam Gene III dies... And if Slippin' Kimmy dies... And if Lalo Salamanca and Nacho die... That really is the end of the BB universe.
Yeah, Kaylee, Skylar, Holly, and "fLyNn" will still be around, but they don't really matter at all. It's crazy to me when I see scenes with doomed BB characters together, like scenes where Gus, Lydia, and Schuler are all in the hotel room talking, and in my mind I just think to myself about how none of them know that everyone in that room will be dead in a matter of several years. It's like being some sort of higher entity that knows the future of these characters and how and when they will snuff it, and boy it's a LOT OF EM agagagagaga
In Nebraska, the number stickers pertain to the month not year. A 12 means December, not 2012.
This could be a significant diversion 😏
I hope that Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould decides to make a final 6 episode "Gene" story after BCS ends. It feels like we would miss that and they could make it in maybe 6 months or less. Or at least a Gene movie.
In Missouri you can get a 2yr sticker. So it could also be 2010.
Season 6 soon!! woo
I don't know how so much stuff will be wrapped up in only 6 episodes??
Kim, Lalo and Gene
Lalo is dead, when Gus taunts hector he said he is the last standing Salamanca
Gus mentioned Lalo by name when he talked about killing all the capos
Shiftee 7Treez actually Gus does NOT mention Lalo at all, but its likely he dies
Shiftee 7Treez Gus says “all of them Hector. Don Eladio, Don Paco, Cesar, Reynaldo, Artuno , Cisco, Luis, Escalada, ALL DEAD.” Gus says that to hector after he poisons everyone in the cartel, but notice that he does not mention Lalo aka Eduardo
Shiftee 7Treez Gus says all that in episode 11 season 4 “Enterprise” at minute 18:38 if you’re watching on Netflix
I just hope nachos dad survives
I took it that Gene was going to either kill the cab driver or have him killed, and then go on as Gene.
He got caught by a cab driver? Looks like Saul should have asked for his money back.
Vince Gilligan don’t let us down we need a new series after
Id like to see a gene movie, in the same spirit as el camino
Edge of my seat waiting for the Gene story to return!! We know there's a crazy big mansion in Saul's future but is that during the BB timeline or after?? The disappearer was at the end of BB + the mansion isn't in BCS (far as we can see) but in-between doesn't feel right either… so pre-Gene?
Dubious Kim will survive but if she does (jail time or not) I picture her going away, being married to some otherwise nice unsuspecting guy, maybe with kids… Even possibly they low-key stay in touch… then something happens 😃and boom
I just wonder in reality what crimes could they even charge Jimmy with as it relates to Walt.
i have a feeling the final season part 1 episode will be gene since he needs an entire episode and then part 2 could be like 4 more years into the future of better call saul and itll show how saul fell into the sadness of gene
