I am from Shanghai. I lived and studied Masters in Sydney for 3 years, lived and worked in a bank in Vancouver for 5 years. I have been to many places in the world. I am living in Hong Kong now. I would like to say Hong Kong is the best. I just do not know why Hong Kong people are leaving😂 There is no freedom in the other countries either ,actually worse than Hong Kong. We just back from 3-week Singapore/Malaysia trip. We live in Australia for more than 30 years and loves Singapore alot apart from the heat. It is very safe, hygenic and convinence!

I have been to singapore more than 30 times in the last 35 years. I like it very much. It was a better place. 1990, population was about 4 million. Now it is too crowded. The only 2 problems with Singapore, first, as a country it is very small . Secondly, there is no cool temperatures , the whole year is about the same temperature 30 to 35 c. It is hard for hiking or golfing. Almost paradise!.

I don't think SG's tax is low once every mandatory 'savings' is included. Some HKers always think that a foreign passport is an insurance policy, but it is a wishful 'misunderstand' of international practice. Just look at the last page of a Canadian passport, there's a disclaimer for people with dual citizenship and HKers, by default are all dual citizenships if they immigrate to another country and obtain that country's citizenship. SG's ex PM Lee Kuan Yew, before his passing has mentioned that even he's not sure if SG will survive for another 50 years or so. Yes, SG is doing everything right at the moment.
As a Singaporean who has worked and lived in HK for 15 years, I can attest that the income tax is very much cheaper in Singapore than you pay in HK. Just look at the progressive taxable income range, and you will know the big difference.
If you are looking for a safe place for your next generations, you better read the history of south east asia in the past one hundred years before making such a decision.

@KK-kn3sn Hongkong is a different place now. Apatt from the seasonal weather that stays the same, the rest of HK paints a very different picture compared to the time I was there. Working environment wise, if you do not understand or speak cantonese and now Mandarin well, you are at a disadvantage. In my 15 years working there, I never once saw people leaving the office on time or before their bosses unless you were in a foreign company. There is only so much island hopping you can do in HK, and after a while, it gets boring. Night life entertainment wise I find Singapore more vibrant and more variety. Ya HK has 蘭桂坊and that's about the most popular, so is Singapore's Arab street, Haji lane, emerald hill and more like the different cocktail bars. I like clubbing, and I have the privilege to do it every night at will in both Singapore and HK. Over the years, Singapore has improved its night spot while HK remains stagnant as far as I know before I left 10 years ago. On weekends, if you find Singapore boring (only people who lead a boring life would say that), then hop on a plane or ferry and go neighbouring Indobesua, Malaysia, or Thailand. Ya, Singapore does not have moutains that you can track, but greenery wise is all around Singapore, which makes it a more conducive environment to live in. We are 1 degree away from the equator, and we can't change the tropical weather, neither the size.but we has made good use of the place we were born in. If there is anything boring in Singapore compared to HK, it is that we are not prone to typhoons or black rain, but we do have torrential rain during the monsoon season. Another aspect of it is that we do not have characteristic old and dilapidated buildings and inhumane cage houses. And to think that HK is only 25%developed as they claimed, and yet the housing issues were never really resolved as youngsters are finding it hard to really own an apartment. Ya, there's a lot of talking about it, but it's NATO. May be with the new security law in tact, they can begin to tackle the housing issue for good. Good luck with your continuing adventure in HK.

I would like to clarify about freedom of speech. In Singapore, the country never stop you from giving your own opinion on politics, but it must be fact. Our ministers dont like to be played like clowns by keyboard warrior and young punks that only hear say from 3rd party source, as long as its the fact and you can proof it, we will accept it. For your information, Singapore is closing down turf club (=HKJC in Hong Kong) in 2024 and their SGX (=HKEX) is relatively very small in terms of turnover. Singapore and Hong Kong both have advantages and disadvantages over the other. Mind you that Singapore is a country and Hong Kong is just a city that comparison made between these two places is invalid (not an apple to apple comparison)
I know a few Singaporean men, they are more discipline after going through military training. It would not be a bad idea for the sons to go through such traning.

Correction. Presently the percentage highest for BSD is 6% ie total stamp duty for foreign buyer to fork out is 66%

I would like to clarify about freedom of speech. In Singapore, the country never stop you from giving your own opinion on politics, but it must be fact. Our ministers dont like to be played like clowns by keyboard warrior and young punks that only hear say from 3rd party source, as long as its the fact and you can proof it, we will accept it.

新加坡樓價再升，還是比香港便宜，但是外國人買樓，如果和本地人相比，稅相差甚遠，心態肯定不平衡。
我未去過新加坡，聽説確實太熱濕氣太重，如果就氣候來睇，可能日本東京比較舒服，不過要適應超高速的生活節奏。除非做技術行業，比如程序員之類，否則就要適應埋比較高壓的工作環境。日本東京好多公司，尤其大公司，濫用權力的上司好多。

其实当兵对年轻人是好事，自立，.自己解决問題，合群，服从。公共交通完善，也不需要汽车，天气热有空调，也可解决。言论自由要看去到什么程度，如果一个国家的政府有高效率，廉洁，治安良好，也可以说是好地方。

我不知道为什么人们都喜欢拿新加坡和香港比。这两个是很不同的城市，根本不能拿来直接对比。 很多新加坡每天所要面对的问题和挑战，是香港永远都不会有的。 香港只需要知道怎么赚钱，新加波却要担心怎么生存。你通常只会看到香港人拿新加坡来做比较，很少会看到新加坡人那么做，因为新加波人都知道外国人是不了解新加坡的。 新加坡是个独特和不可复制的国度，根本不可能拿它跟世界任何国家比。
香港如果当年成功成为一个主权国家，也会面对和新加坡一样的问题，香港之所以只考虑赚钱就是因为他从来没有真正掌握过自己的政治权力
個人香港人也是新加坡粉絲 首先兩地就是地方相近的競爭對手 其次人口規模 領土面積 崛起年份相近 所以才那麽多的比較吧

For your information, Singapore is closing down turf club (=HKJC in Hong Kong) in 2024 and their SGX (=HKEX) is relatively very small in terms of turnover. Singapore and Hong Kong both have advantages and disadvantages over the other. Mind you that Singapore is a country and Hong Kong is just a city that comparison made between these two places is invalid (not an apple to apple comparison)

新加坡根本没有言论自由，简单来说 是香港人对生活压力和住宿不满 所以 发泄于大陆而已，我是一位拥有英国籍的马来西亚人，我认为香港人是被西方媒体洗脑多年而变成非常偏激。
香港人追求自由嘅心，喺唔同年代忽高忽低，就算打壓、撲滅、滅聲，去到唔同國家唔同地方，都唔會消失，就算離鄉別井，流落他鄉，都唔會改變；因為香港人唔單只係一個Passport國籍，仲係一個精神、心態，早上他朝有一日我哋冇咗依個護照，一樣都可以同大家講自己係香港人
講自由，香港依家失去緊但係都比新加玻擁有嘅多幾倍。新加玻人樂於接受，香港人呢？
