iPlaySEGA!! How I long for a Fighters Megamix 2. Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, and Last Bronx characters plus other guest characters. I feel something like this would be so successful for Sega.
That 60 fps really makes a difference, especially after watching other fighting games of the 32/64-bit era. And kudos for playing on a real Saturn. The emulators still over-pixelate the image , making the graphics notably worse than they are in a real Saturn. And I'm always amazed by the lighting effects in Megamix. Sega really outdid themselves this time. It's worth owning a Saturn just for Sega's arcade brawlers.
Great post Boss!! I told a UA-cam Sega Saturn content creator I know he is using emulation for to his very reason. Poor graphics and No transparencies in games that did have real transparencies like Burning rangers. Models looking all barebones terrible.
@@ENFDOnah it definately 60fps.There is some slow down here n there.VF2, VF KIDS, FIGHTING VIPERS, FIGHTERS MEGAMIX AND LAST BRONX ARE ALL 60 FPS GAMES.

That's right, it was THE first ever cross over fighter. Sega innovated so much of the way everyone plays games and basically everyone after Gen Y is woefully unaware.
@@Longlostpuss If there was no King of Fighters, there would be no Fighters Megamix. That claim of 'The 1st' is incorrect, and 'woefully unaware' very ironic.

I’d like to have a sequel for this game. Characters should be from Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, and Anarchy Reigns. Also Ulala from Space Channel 5 and Ryo from Shenmue. There should be super attacks and finishers as well. My team battle mode characters would consist of Sarah Bryant, Fei Rin, and Dural. Dural should be a sub-boss (using martial arts only) and the final boss is Dural in a much more powerful and intimidating form (one that can shoot projectiles and form weapons out of her hands).
Finally got a chance to play this game. Shines more as a Fighting Vipers game than a Virtua Fighter one. Lack of ringouts on VF stages kinda lets things down a bit.
Yeah, that's one of the downsides to this game. It would have been great to have the option to remove the walls from the Vipers stages. The music resetting after every round is also really annoying.
The tracks stop after about a minute or so anyway. It sucks, and was due to the sheer roster size, but what can you do? At least Rentahero's song was nice and long, and doesn't restart.
Could you uploade it for Mahlar vs Blue Honey?? I want to watch about Mahlar's various special move. Especially, Brain washer is so greatest technic!!!
I started playing Saturn in 2016 (was a PS1 kid) and prefer this game to VF2 personally - I just think it's more fun. I couldn't quite get into VF2 the same way, though I know lots of fans prefer it.
Instead of adding all those goofy mascot characters, they should’ve added the Last Bronx fighters, levels, and music. It could’ve been Virtua Fighter versus Fighting Vipers versus Last Bronx!
@@kienhsi9522 I disagree with that: Last Bronx was released in May of 1996, while Fighters Megamix came out in December. Surely, there was enough time to tie the characters in. If we were to take into consideration Last Bronx being 'too new', Sonic the Fighters came out around the same time. So that point is moot. Also, the Streets of Rage crew would have been a better addition to, say, Deku or the AM2 palm tree
That's fucking ridiculous. This is a traditional 1v1 fighting game that plays and looks nothing like Smash Bros. The idea of doing crossovers is nothing original either: SNK did it years earlier with King of Fighters, which was the combination of Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting plus a few extra characters, some original and some adapted from previous SNK games.
@@gurriato It's not about the gameplay. The point is people act like Smash Bros invented crossover fighting games and are quick to call other games rip-offs when Smash itself is not even the first of its kind. SEGA and SNK did it before Nintendo, so it's not really fair to be calling games like PlayStation All-Stars a ripoff of Smash, unless they say Smash is a ripoff of Fighters Megamix or The King of Fighters.
Compare Megamix to VF2, all the characters are in totally different Texture Mapping method. This gouraud shading is common in PS1.This method with lighting effect looks much better than using texture mapping only.I really don't know why Resident Evil of Saturn version don't use this method.
Because all what Saturn draws via hardware acceleration is distorted sprites, quads, with special restrictions, but that could have tinted corners, making up for the lighting. Resident Evil was a PSX port, thus, it worked on PSX specs, which used triangles instead that had to be drawn in software mode. To reach interactive speeds, some sacrifices had to be made, for example, lighting. That's the largest gap on Saturn development compared to other machines, to achieve desirable efficiency, you had to use distorted sprites, and that required specific non standard tools designed for Saturn that nobody else had nor bothered to have, in many cases. Sounded reasonable to have quads, instead of triangles, 2 for the price of one and no perspective distortion as many PSX games had, but in the long run, resulted in a bad idea, as it was a highly limiting choice.
@@kienhsi9522 I think it's because when developing the Saturn Sega seemingly expected most home console games during this generation to use engines similar to Space Harrier or Outrun rather than Virtua Fighter 2 or Daytona USA. A big strategic mistake and ironic considering what their own AM divisions were pioneering at the time, but somewhat understandable without foresight.
Which 2 Characters are in the Japanese version which aren't in the North American release? Funny thing is the North American release sells for more online. I guess not everyone has Japanese Saturn, Modded Saturn, or one of those cartridges that allows to play the Japanese release. The price of North American Saturn games are ridiculous online. I think they were more scarce because in Japan the Saturn was a hit but in North America they only sold a weak 3 million Saturn Consoles. I believe Hero and the Arabic character was probably Japanese and UK exclusive characters the more I think about it.
Nope, all characters are available in each version. The only difference i can remember, there was a puzzle mini game in the japanese version and the song in the Rent-A-Hero stage had lyrics instead of a instumental track. Oh and iirc the US version had slightly less slow downs here and there.
