Another fantastic video man!!! Star Wars in 4k 16:9 and Sega Rally Championship on Model 2 in 4k.... They absolutely rock!!! When my PS5 and X Box- owning friends come-over, and I show them these games in 4K... They simply cannot believe it LOL
Imagine back then these games required hardware costing thousands and thousands and now can be emulated in cheap phones costing nomore than a few hundread quid
Not sure your phone will emulate it in 4k, but yes, it is amazing the power of a smartphone these days compared to computers of years gone by! The money that originally went into this hardware was insane!
I had read somewhere that a single model 3 arcade board costed upwards of 30K . Now imagine building a modern day PC costing that much and developing games solely to take full advantage of it . The games would look out of this world , not unlike actually how these model 3 games looked compared to everything else back in those times
Just a little curious fact, due to the architecture of the Model 3 (based on simulation technology developed by Real3D/GE Aerospace) the system was capable of rendering the entire scenario without or very little popping. Even what was not visible to the player. This is why 16:9 widescreen hacks do so well on this system Without exaggerating this boars was far ahead of its time.
I always wanted to play Daytona 2 so bad, but i never had any money, so i'd just sit in it and watch the demo and pretend to drive it... not quite the same though!
Love the graphics of the model 3 games. And so disappointed in Sega that they never brought Daytona USA 2 to the Dreamcast. They should have brought more Model 3 games home to the Dreamcast. I bet many would have loved having arcade games at home. I know I did.
A sizable chunk of Dreamcast's library were arcade ports or arcade style games. The last thing the Dreamcast needed were arcade ports even if they were from Sega. The arcade had been dwindling already. It needed games that would keep people interested longer than the short burst play style that arcade games offered.

Abonné +1 i had on my last PC, Sega Race TV tweaked in 2K (Teknoparrot), it was fantastic. you see the dedicated Love of SEGA making games, when you put the game in HI-REZ & just realise how the texture was beautiful, they were so much in advance, even the 3D models are crazy considering how old it is !

Hello, you have probably been asked this question before, but do you ever plan to do all the Model 1, Naomi, Hikaru, and Naomi 2 games in 4k 60fps? I absolutely loved these videos and it would be great if we got those arcade boards as well! Thank you!

@@arcadestuff we are very lucky to play our dream games at home at even higher resolutions than the original. When I was a kid my parents never gave me money to play these games so I always looked at someone else playing and dreamed of having them at home.
The emulator is super flexible, but increadible tedious to setup. you can potentially setup a modern PC as a model3 replacement, with networking and everything... But configuring every game is a massive undertaking. Have a look at launchbox forum and look for the post "Sega Model 3 | Supermodel Git - EVERYTHING Pre Configured inc Controls" if you are looking to play the games with normal xinput controllers.

I brought kinhank mini pc with model 2/3 games. Model 3 however shows the image slightly to the right. Retrobat is using supermodel but im not sure what i need to do?... Pete 🇬🇧

It's super model, running on Ryzen 5600x with 3080rtx GPU, 16GB ram. Supermodel doesn't require this much power for GPU though, you can do it on lower hardware. What game runs slow?
@@arcadestuff Hi thx your reply. Yes im using supermodel too (version 886 with UI). My old pc can run it at full HD resolution (abit ip35 pro + xeon E5450 ,gt1030 ,8giga of ram) however there is something wrong when i touch the steering ...the car animation ...i don't know how to explain ...the car instantly it goes straight back after releasing the steering wheel, as if the game is eating/skipping a small part of the animation. Really sorry for the approimate description but i don't know how to explain better. it's not even a glitch or at least it doesn't sem. i have vSynch on so fps are capped at 60. In the expert race there is little slowdown just before arriving at the harbor. it certainly doesn't run as smoothly as in your video,but overall it run good...if not for that problem i wrote above.
@@MarioRoggeroE Are you using a steering wheel? if you are, you might not have calibrated it correctly? Or are you using a gamepad? There's a grpahics setting in supermodel that will cause significant slowdown in the graphical emulation on the newer versions. Try setting New3DEngine = false in your supermodel.ini file. The new 3d engine more accurately preoduces graphics but it needs a lot more power. What game specifically and what controller are you using?
@@arcadestuff Im using JoyPad. Game version: Daytona 2 PE and Daytona 2. When i launch supermodel the box of New3DEngine and legacy option are both unchecked. So both options are off. -vSynch is On -QuadRendering On -Gpu MT On -MultiThreaded On -Multi Textures On -Wide textures On -Stretch On -Throttle On Power PC frequence i leave to 50 ,as it set by default. So far, this seem to be the best configuration for me. If i turn OFF GPU MT the game run much slower. I did several test but i didn't try to increase the Power pc frequency. Also,eventually i can overclock very easily with this configuration,but not very much margin (600mhz no more, the mobo cannot bash that wall).
@@MarioRoggeroE It's because you're using a gamepad. I'm using a steering wheel and a large joystick for all analogue games in this video. Using the analogue thumbstick on a gamepad lets you turn full left and right axis and back to the center way too fast, and the game registers that. You aren't supposed to be able to just flick full left, right and back again, that would be the same as full lock left with wheel, then turn it full lock right and back again, this takes time with a wheel, but using thumbstick it does it way too fast. You need a wheel to play these games properly, or somehow introduce a simulated steering delay with your controller. Not sure how you do this though. The reason it looks smooth in my video, is because i use a wheel, set to the same turning degrees as the original arcade games. Hard to play these games without one.
Is this video recorded in real time ? I dont think there is a system powerfull enough existing to emulati this hardware at 60 hz fps real time . What is the name of the emulator ?
Of course there is! There’s an emulator called supermodel just for model 3 games. All of these games are played and recorded on the same system. Ryzen 5900 cpu and 3080 gpu!

Thank you for this 4k video. Even at 1080p a lot of things looked blocky, but at 2160p it looks exactly how I remember it in the arcade.

You use the emulator called Supermodel. It’s free, then you check UA-cam for setup videos. There’s good guides already on how to set it up.
FV2 was a Naomi 2 game, not Model 3. Anyway, still amazing how Daytona 2 looks until today. Impressive quality and polygon count.
Fighting Vipers 2 was released on Model 3, Step 2.0 hardware! As far as i'm aware it got ported to the Dreamcast, and wasn't released on Naomi at all.
