- In 2001, Roy Williams and Teddy Lehman teamed up to make one of the most iconic plays in the history of the Red River Rivalry.
Coach Bob Stoops is joined on 'Conversations with Coach' by two of his all-time best defenders at Oklahoma. Stoops, Williams and Lehman all break down their perspective on the game-changing play, what they can remember before the play occured, their first times playing against Texas in the Cotton Bowl, their feelings about Texas as a rival and more from three men who will always have their names attached to this historic rivalry between two college football blue bloods.

I just noticed how excited coach is as he's reading off the accolades of his former players. He can't help but smile as he's reading them off. He seems more happy for them as individuals and their success rather than being the one who coached them. I think that says a lot about his character. Tremendous interview all three of you represented and represent the university very well
Great guy. Met him a few times. Threw his arm around me like I was his nephew or something for a picture once and that told me a lot about him.
I think there's a reason soo many of his former players absolutely loved him. He really cared about his guys.
💯%
To this day you can see how much respect Roy Williams has for Coach Stoops and all his teammates
Stoops looks like a proud dad talking about his boys. Gotta love that
I was in college at OU in 2001 and worked part-time at the Mazzio's pizza call center in Moore. I remember taking Stoops' call to order pizza from his mobile phone on the bus back from the 2001 OU-Texas game, haha. I specifically remember he ordered Veggie pizzas. Because his order was over a threshold dollar amount, Mazzio's required us to call the number back to confirm the order. He was totally cool about it even though I felt stupid having to call back to confirm.
That's awesome!
I bet that was a honor to take his pizza order if that was me I would have been nervous as hell talking to this legend
Roy williams is and has always been my favorite fb player ever
I love the former players talking with Coach Stoops. I could watch all day.
How could anyone turn down the Legendary Coach Stoops interviewing?
I was going crazy when I saw this live. I set up my VCR and recorded Sportcenter so I could show my friend who was at work.
No DVR back then unless you were rich.
So proud to celebrate all three of these Sooner greats !
LOVE THESE three forever!!!
Roy's great attitude is so infectious. His smile and how he still says "yes sir yes sir" like he's still playing. Wouldn't want to be on the other side of the ball from him. But he's one of those people, no matter who you elegance is to, you can't help but like him.
roy needs to be on more stuff
The show is amazing keep it up coach! BOOMER!!!
I was watching Rocky Calumus highlights. Danny Stutsman's Tackles reminds me of Rocky's hits.
Don’t go there please
That play will NEVER lose its energy or magic. I go back and watch it every October. I'm proud of how Roy and Teddy represent the Sooners and I will always love Coach Stoops. (I finally understand why Coach Mike told Roy not to leave his feet!) BOOMER!
SOONER!!
How do you feel about tomorrow Terri? Are you nervous? I've had butterflies all day. 😂
@@conservachick100 I don’t remember ever being this nervous on the eve of a game!
@TerriBeckham I'm over the moon Terri!!! We won!! 🥰😘
@TerriBeckham Obviously you know that, lol. Just wanted to come back and revisit our conversations about our nerves. 😂😍 BOOMER!!
Nothing but class to all 3 of them 😊
Teddy ruined our homecoming in 1999 with a pick 6..... Skiatook vs Ft. Gibson

Boomer Sooner. Let’s see a fight.
My new favorite show. I love all these guys. BoomerSooner
I remember seeing Roy Williams at Sooner bowling alley I asked him for an autograph he was such a humble kind human. Roy on the field was a totally different person the off the field for sure.
Greatest Show on Earth that day !!!
Two of the best
Bob is a hero of mine!
Absolutely great man…
TYVM Coach, Teddy, and Roy for sharing such wonderful stories. U brought smiles and laughter to this old man out on California. Boomer Sooner!!
Awesome story guys, I remember it like it was yesterday
Best Moment Ever!!!
I was a freshman in 2001 at the game. I tried storming the field after the game and was quickly stopped by security. One of my best college memories.
Yeah, we did it in 2000 for the Nebraska win (1st time I remember this happening at OU), so they beefed up security across the board
Great Job Coach... Love these interviews... Great Guests and Topics
3 of my favorite Sooners ever! LFG!!! Boomer!
Don’t release em too fast coach! If you backlog a few you can keep ‘em coming for longer! Not complaining whatsoever but I really enjoy the show and wanna see it continue. Thank you for these interviews! I’ve watched every one of them and I’ll continue to do so.
I luv all yall!, i still have my superman poster, charge it to the bursar, ill hush, but man i still cherish just shaking roys hand on campus
This was great.
Loved reliving this moment! Great stuff - thank you!
and just think Roy Williams was just a number on the screen until Stoops showed up! that coaching change really brought him to the forefront and let him shine. Don't misunderstand me even if stoops hadn't shown up he would've been good but, he went to a different level under a new coach!
Stoops did that to alot of players on that team. But what he did with that roster was unreal.
So happy you're doing this coach WE LOVE YA BOOMER!!!
Just started watching these. Absolutely love how fun they are to watch and listen to. Keep them coming.
Very enjoyable. Thanks for the memories!
These are phenomenal
Roy, I too, remember being very confused (and thankful) that Mack didn’t use Applewhite. Major was better than Sims.
I've said this many times. MA was a stud. Glad Macky stuck with Chrissy
2/3 of the earth is covered by water. Roy Williams covers the rest! Boomer 🏈
Great video. Thanks for the memories.
Stoops is the GOAT
Was at that game. We got there right before kick off . Seats were in corner of end zone by the ramp. Right before kick someone close to 50 yard line under press box unrolled a white bed sheet down with 65-13 on it. Priceless! Never sat down entire game. Best OU game I've been to.
Great moment in Sooner history. And Birth of ' BIG GAME BOB'.
Crazy thing is, 2001 OU-TX was my first and last RRR game. I'd love to go again but it's hard to get away during that time of year.
Another great vid thanks Coach! BOOMER SOONER!
Thanks for being a Sooner, Roy and Teddy. By the way, Teddy I fish down there at Fort Gibson dam when I was younger catching them Croppie.
Great stuff guys
Yes, I Really Like this Show, Myself #iheartmedia Keep up the Great Work, Coach Stoops ✌️❤️🤠🏈🍗❤
Calmus n Lehman, kanak n studsman. Roy Williams, Bowman n Bowen
Can't believe Teddy never watched an OU texas game until 99.
Absolutely love these ❤
I think about that 2001 team,so so close to being national champ contenders, Jason doesn't get hurt were there
What a great &*$#@FFi!n episode! I love it!!!
Ahh, when OU had a defense! Maybe this year? We will see this Saturday. BOOMER
This was awesome!
Lol I love you Roy...your the man Boomer
I really like these interviews! Coach does a great job with these. Jesus Christ loves you and saves (John 3:16; John 14:6)!
Glory days! They pass you by!
Yall are awesome to listen to. Thanks!
Major Applewhite never lost to the Sooners, and Chris Simms never beat the Sooners. I agree Roy.
This show is stuff that kool was born from BOOMER SOONER
The dumbest thing ever done at OU ..was the firing of Mike stoops in the middle on the year... lost a title because of it
OU please don't eat the RAT poison, don't get too high or low. I think Its great OU beat Texas and has improved in several areas such as the offensive and defensive line, to include the secondary. However, OU still needs to clean up that special teams play and the running back's foot work, timing and anticipation because the front line is opening holes but the running backs are not jump cutting into them. When you view the game replay footage the running back Marcus Majors will provide the best examples of failing to anticipate and hit or jump cut into holes. However, once he is in the open field Majors is awesome at making the first, second and sometime third man miss. I hope most of the injuries sustained during the Texas game were minor and everyone takes a little time to enjoy the Texas win, but not too much because UCF is out there. So do what you do, get on the practice field, in the lab, film room and clean up those issues because Texas was not suppose to score more than 17 points tops. Moreover, those OU running bakes are Awesome!! and that is why their play or lack thereof is driving me crazy. OU running backs please allow the holes to develop "first", once they do don't dance in them instead Hit IT!!! with a purpose no jogging you called a "Running" back for a reason "Marcus " not saying any names, then use leverage , anticipation and angles to break tackles. Come guys I know you got this.
Bob can we get Chris Simms on!? Lol I want to hear his side
Texas fans still wonder why Simms over Applewhite…
They’re both bald.😎
Respect.
Teddy made "superman". Without Teddy running it in its just a fumble recovery.
Nah that was Superman ROY WILLIAMS
To bad y’all couldn’t win a natty
In a few. But yeah just missed on a couple
I'm a fan of teddy as a football player but not as a commentator
Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on the guy but he is very irritating he acts like he has to explain every little detail to us like it's our first football game and it's starting to get very old especially after every little play he goes on and on and on dude enough is enough let it go you don't have to explain everything to us
Couldnt disagree more. He was stiff when he first started but now he’s a pro. He’s awesome and the best analyst for OU there is
@@LegolasFan69 if you say so everybody has their opinion but it's obvious he thinks we are all dumbasses the way he tries to explain every little detail to us he's mr. Know-it-all
I HATE texas!!!
Boomer
Boomer!
Hodges Mitchell got his clock cleaned by Torrance forearm. Rocky told me after that play there was NO more trash talking! We kicked their butts for 5 straight after that. Mack after the game in 2000 said we overlooked OU. Never said it again.
Love watching Bob. I'd like to see you talk with Joe Harroz, but I suspect that Joe would decline because he knows he's break character.
