The portholes are a great design element. I really like the Nautilus line.

The Nautilus models are my favorites. They write very nicely and I agree, the portholes just make it so cool.
Beautiful resin. I love the Nautilus model. Whole I prefer the ebonite, the resin versions are also very nice.
My only criticism is that the feed should also be ebonite.
Even the steel nib does reverse writing very smoothly.

I still hate, hate, HATE that new logo. The old one was so good. Corporate minimalism ruins everything.

Intersting how significant the feathering appears to be. I find my Rhodia pads vary page to page sometimes as well.
I think that’s more the fault of the ink. I have a bottle of private reserve in a different color and it feathers like it came from an ostrich no matter what I try to tame it. I seriously hate that ink brand.
I don't know the cause of the feathering, but as you say Chris, it's quite significant and I'm surprised David didn't comment on it. Having had no problems with my half dozen Nahvalurs I thought the paper was to blame.

I love the Nautilus line, but for me that new flex nib is the most exciting part of your video.
How does it compare to other flex nibs you've used?
It looks closest to the Kanwrite/FPR 14k flex nib to me, but Narwhal is made in China right?
I've been looking for a good old fashioned wooden dip-pen, but i have no idea where to buy one. i've seen some on amazon but i would like something that's good but still relatively cheap, like 20-30$ as a starter pen.
David, I’m a bit surprised by the feathering. Is this a different paper? Or is this ink playing rough with it? I hope it’s not the nib.

Thank you for the review! You recently reviewed two in-house gold nibs, Leonardo and Nahvalur. How would you describe each nib's characteristics?
The Leonardo feels more like a standard gold nib from Jowo or Bock. The Nahvalur was a bit softer and had more flex.
There is quite a bit of feathering, which is unusual on your writing samples even with wet nibs. I don't know if it is due to the ink ? And I don't understand why Private Reserve uses such wide bottles, it's quickly going to be difficult to have enough depth.

How is the feel? Much feedback or smooth. I am a little uncomfortable with a feedbacky nib. Can scratch my brain using it. Love a smooth writer. I know a nib can be modified but I'd have to ship a distance for a nibmeister and it would take time and be costly. and I want to practise smoothing cheap nibs a bit longer before it'd dry to modify something like that at home. Even if it was to smooth.
The gold nib I had is not buttery...but decently smooth. No abundance of feedback.
Not a fan of the portholes. I have two of the Voyage(with the diamond cast resin), and they are beautiful.
Bit of an uncomfortable camera shake during the writing sample. Kinda distracted from that great nib
