We need turbofan jets. Smoother, faster, quieter, cooler.

Hmm, I actually had a dream once that we had twin engine microlight jets at ESTT and ESMK which looked like a mix between SK60 and EV97, and that we shouldn´t forget to use these birds as well.

@@flythething193 Cool. Do you remember how long ago? I figure that it's an obvious configuration, sleek composite body with skinny wings (like high speed glider) and two outboard small turbofan jets like a private jet, not blended into the body like a fighter jet. I've done the math and an appropriate size engine would be around 15kg with 100kg thrust each. So the plane dry would weigh less than UL/LSAs. It would need to be pressurized but the teardrop shape of a glider is well suited for pressure. The surprising thing about turbofan engines, not turbojets, is that the world distance record of 40000km without refueling at 500km/h belongs to an off the shelf simple turbofan engine, the williams FJ44-4 which is used on smaller private jets. No LSA will fly 40000km without refueling at any speed let alone 500km/h. So a jet can be faster, cooler, lighter and have superior fuel economy.
That means it's a huge opportunity in GA and a good product would be the end of piston engines. No one will buy a Cirrus SR22 for close to a million dollars if you could get a twin engine private jet 4 seater going double speed and better range and fuel economy for less.

@@DanFrederiksen It was at least two years ago. Interesting stuff you write. The twin outside jet configuration close to the tail was how I saw it. There´s some cool videos of the SubSonex in jet version, and I just looked at a glider with retractable jet engine on Stefan Langers channel (LS4).

Maby more turbo boost would be faster or engine with more power.

On such non turbulent days as this one the plane performs very well in the yellow speed range. There´s an older film on the channel "hi speed airworks" which explores more of that. Of course roll stiffens up a bit between 120-130 kt. Seems to be some WT9´s with the 915iS 141 hp turbo engine, but I haven´t seen Vne increase beyond 150 kt. Looking at newer POH´s floating around the net it´s max crosswind that increased, some mention 24 kt compared to older 18 kt (for example SEVPL).
