I am a govt employee and have seen many IAS but their charm and powers have shelf life till they get retired. After retirement most of them are considered as lay man.
On the other hand if you become CA, you will always be CA for life time and with passage of time CA gets value addition.

My Grandfather was a Head department of Controller Auditor of General (CAGR) and my father, He is a Businessman he wanted me to become at least government officer but i decided to become CA at Class 11th and now I'm a CA Student along with masters, Nowadays i'm on stress i'm failing from last 4 attempts and i don't know where my life going...

My friend cleared UPSC without any commerce or economics background. Established CAs wait for a long for meeting with him and his colleagues. This is the real value of knowledge in India. A generalist remains on top over specialist. Sad but true.

yeah, this is indeed a bit sad, guys who have much knowledge have to wait, and even the knowledge that IAS people study during their course is mostly useless bcos u have to memorize facts which have no application in their service, I know my friends who prepare for IAS exams and their syllabus is just facts facts facts, mug up thousands of facts like where is this river, where is this national park? which are useless, but that is how our govt is recruiting, instead it should focus on specialists in each area, like exams should be different for each cadre based on specialist knowledge in each.

Sir, you missed a point
Once you become a civil servant, you will stop learning new things unlike a CA.
An enthusiast CA keeps on learning and learning throughout his career to apply in his professional life. We CAs can choose to do MBA, CFA, FRM, CPA or anything we want. But an IAS is a generalist, he has knowledge about polity, geography, history. These all subjects are not linked to each other. Once you become an IAS, these will be of almost no use.
Opinion: Learning and application throughout the life is always better than keeping our brain idle once we are done.
Choose wisely.
It's ok.... comparison with upsc is not fair, because the position and the work a civil servent is more valuable then having crores

Very good discussion. But sir i want to add that also there is prescribed syllabus for IAS also. Although for just one or two topics like newspaper it may not be prescribed.but for rest in prelim and mains it is 100%prescribed. Thanks sir.

Graduation doesn't guarantee rank in upsc...if u do ca then u can perform extraordinary in CSE cause I know CAs who were in top 50 in upsc...good luck
One thing is to be remembered here, people who are pursuing B Tech and for that matter any grad. will have time to prepare for UPSC along with their regular course. But in CA, you can't do like that. CA students can prepare for UPSC only after clearing CA exams. To add icing on the cake, CA and UPSC are all together different streams, one need to start from the scratch (Social Studies) which they've left 6 to 7 years back.

Brother CA doesn't require any Shakespeare level English. Within 2 months you will be comfortable. Do it in English. And by reading your comment - Your English is good.
It’s advisable to do it in English since you’ll find most of the books in the course written in English itself.
If you choose to learn and give exams in some other language, it can make things much more difficult for you.
As Harsh rightly pointed out, your written English looks perfectly fine and you’ll be able to sail through the course with ease. All the best :)

Select on the basis of your likings ...if you like practical subjects more than theory then you can go for CA .... otherwise choose CS

In CA-Only serious students appear for entrance exam as exam fees and registration fees are high so people work harder and generally 80% + in 12th take CA whereas in IAS since exam fees are very low amoung 7 lakh more then 50%+ appear exam and try their luck this makes upsc look more tough but in reality it is not very tough

We can prepare for civil services exam after ca but we can't prepare for ca after ias. This is because CA had failed many times during their CA journey....CA course teaches us to rise from the failure , teaches us how to handle failure & most importantly confident 😇

As per I know sir, C.A(Chartered Accountancy) is a limited syllabus based and a marks/percentage based examination like if we score 50% or above in the finals we can pass it ,but in UPSC its totally based on our rankings and a non syllabus based course, means it doesn't have any syllabus, the questions can come from any where. But the thing is in C.A it's tough to cope up with the syllabus and if we talk about the concepts I think it's easy to understand. So as per my knowledge both of the courses are tough in their fields✌️
