I have a 12 Pro Max and this issue has only gotten worse for about 4 months now. It shakes and makes static noise horribly if trying to zoom at all.
This information is useless if you have no solution
I came to this video hoping for a solution, but ig it's good to know I'm not just going insane, I haven't heard of anyone else experiencing this. And it just suddenly happened a few weeks ago. Could it be a iphone 12 mini thing exclusively? It's interresting that yours and mine is a 12 mini.
no it’s not i use 11 pro and it’s the same for me, its always blurry unfocused and making noises when i open the camera

Hi. I've got an iPhone 8 and mine starting doing this about two months ago. Like you, people looked at me like I was insane when I told them this--so it's good to know other people are having this same problem with their iPhones.
And it's not just your model, because mine is an 8 and it's doing the same exact thing--suddenly and for no reason--and permanently.
I have an iPhone 12 pro max and I have the same issue with the telephoto lens keep losing focus
i have the same exact issue on the 12, have had it for around 1 months now, never dropped it and its not broken dont know how to fix it
iPhone 12 Pro Max does the same thing and will not focus for distance. Had almost 5 years no issues at all. Started about three weeks ago.
Turning on the “Lock Camera” setting appears to have fixed it for me. Settings -> Camera -> Record Video -> Lock Camera

My settings only say “lock white balance”…is that it?
This doesn’t fix the underlying issue but will make the symptoms go away so you can use the camera without it going crazy. It appears to be an issue with image stabilization.
I hope author of this vid see this comment and pin it, since he doesnt have solution and this really helped.

I also have an iPhone 12 and am having the same issue. Would love an update if a solution is found.
The camera issue still exists in iOS 17 despite the latest update. It produces multi-color lines, blurry images, and videos with static noise. The problem remains unresolved.

Updated my iPhone today and same happened they are playing well
They give updates with bugs and iphone gets disturbed so you have to buy new one

Same issue with my iPhone 12 mini and unfortunately my Apple Care+ expired 5 days before this happened
It won't focus and occaisionally I have the static sound exactly the same accompanied with jumping flicker image. I do not have the vertical lines. It would be great to know if this is hardware or software
Hi please replace new rear camera. Yesterday it happen to my ip12 with the same problem. And decide to go to fix shop and yes it’s solve. But i choose copy ori. Yeah the same quality too

On mine, it sounds similar but more like the lense is trying to focus. Aaaah

listen myne was just doing this and i had the same problem . ur not going to believe me but i banged mine on my hand acouple times while having the camrea out . mine was much worse . wouldnt focus and was vibrating much worse and making constant static noise . urs seems small to how bad mine was . . i banged my hand against my camrea and it took acouple trys now it doesnt do this anymore . 😊 i know u baby ur phone so ur not looking to make it worse but this might just fix it .. thx
Quite insane is correct. My iphone 8 does this all the time when I go to take a picture, but mine also gets a fuzzy shake picture on the camera screen when I go to take a photo--like you said, jumping in and out of focus.
It is quite bizarre. What's scary for me is that I have a defibrillator wired into my heart, so I'm scared to death that I'm going to get an electrical shock that will go right to my heart wires--so I went out and got a Moto g fast.
It's terrible with the prices we pay for these phones that they go bookers suddenly--and permanently.
I did a factory restore a few times and that didn't help--nothing I tried did.
My battery was only functioning at 42% so I thought maybe that was the problem and the battery was shot.
No clue what is going on--i think my phone just got an irreplaceable "brain tumor".
I plan to sell my iphone and tell anyone interested that it's got this issue with the camera.
At least I know now that it wouldn't explode or electricity me.
But because of my heart device I just got a new phone.
I've actually had Androids forever and never had a problem--aside from them weighing too much and being heavy--i like a light phone.
Well, my new Moto g fast phone with a two day battery only lasts for about one day, and it's not fast--in fact I think it runs pretty darn slow.
Guess I just haven't met my "Prince" yet and keep buying all these frogs in the phone world 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

The issue can’t be resolved with software; one of the chips is broken, though I can’t recall which one specifically. It was caused by the vibration from my motorbike while the phone was mounted for GPS use. You need a technical service to change that.

My iPhone 12 was perfectly fine and no scratches hasn’t fallen or anything no water damage but everything since I was taking a picture of my tv while it’s on then I noticed my camera started behaving like this. My theory is that some kind of interference is causing the camera to become defective.

My iPhone 12 mini started doing this while still on iOS16. And I tried upgrading to 17 to see if it fixed it, but no luck

Mine just did this for the first time last night... scared the shit out of me... i was charging my phone and i thought it was electrocuting me😂😂 i dont know what is causing it but i know 2 of my lens the glass is broken ... i have 12 pro

Hmmm... with a try--I'll do that.
Funny thing is I have a defibrillator wired inside of my heart, and that is get they turn the device off when what do surgery on me so that it won't fire.
Sounds like a plan because that magnet will do something to the iphone so it's with a try.

It's hardware related. Went to Apple Store and diagnostics were fairly clear on that.
I'm really bummed by how easily this component broke without any indication whatsoever..
