- Here is my very good friend and incredible guitar player/entertainer, from Detroit, Mr. Doug Deming. Doug is playing my '99 Fender 52 RI with a Lollar Firebird neck pickup and Lollar Special T tap Bridge pickup. I am using 5 way switch, individual coil tap for each pup, Glendale double cut bridge with Glendale compensated titanium saddles and ferrules. Also using my RMF tone kit, Mogami 2524 cable and, my 74/64 Deluxe Reverb with a Weber Michigan speaker.
Great video demo. Everything I needed to hear, nothing I didn't!
Sorry bout that. The coils are split..one coil is sent to ground on the Firebird pickup. The Bridge is actually designed with two different coils and can be switched to either the "special" or the "vintage" voice. Thanks for asking!
THANKS!
out of phase tone is absolutely killer
Great Video, Great job on the Tele and thanks for the E-mail reply .... Tell Doug he definitly sells it...
Highly debating putting a firebird pickup in my tele now…
Man would also love to see this schematic. Very versatile.
dam amazing tone !!!! I'm planning on buying the Peter green humbucker neck pickup
Wow! Rocketship!
@Jeffro321,
The pickguard was made by the good folks @ Lollar. You may also want to consider the new El Rayo in the neck position. Check out my El Rayo demo video. I am using a 4 wire config with coil tap..email me: DEI305@aol.com and I can email to you. I use a Sozo .004 cap instead of a .01. Many thanks!
@DEI305 Cheers! Merry Christmas :)
Great demo. I am thinking of throwing one of the firebirds in my Nash TK-54 the Lollar low wind Imperial is just a little too dark for my taste. Where did you get the pickguard?
I was eyeballing the 52 reissue with plans for tossing a firebird neck pickup on her... great minds I guess.
It sounds great! But what is "slightly out of phase"? It sounds really amazing
I've been looking into getting a tele and doing the mini humbucker in the neck. I really like your setup/mods do you know of anywhere I can find wiring diagrams for your mods? Beautiful guitar that sounds even better than it looks!!
Hey, Lovely video! Thanks so much. With your setup, do you get the 'twang' from the Special T pickup? I hear because it is hotter than the vintage you lose the twang but more bang (better suited for rock). IF you do get the twang... I would ALSO love to get the schematics! If you are still willing to share, that is. Haha Again. THanks for the video :) Tell Doug, he did a great job, as well haha
Hello,
Nice sounds - do you have a wiring schematic to share for this combination? Thanks !
I’m actually considering building a tele with a firebird in the neck. Do you mind sharing your wiring diagram? This video is pretty old so I want sure if your email is still active.
is the firebird pickup a direct drop in to a pickguard with p90 routing?
Are the coils split or actually tapped? They are not the same thing.
How do I order these pickups for my tele? because I'm a little confused on the option on their website. Thanks.
Russel, Please contact me at dei305@aol.com. thanks!
Thanks! I would highly recommend any Lollar product. You may also want to consider using a lollar minihumbucker, or Lollartron in the neck position. I am also using Sozo caps, Bourns pots, and Mogami wire. Please feel free to contact me about getting any of this product. DEI305@aol.com
Many thanks again!
@dkijc,
You get the Twang with the Special and the taped coil. Email me: DEI305@aol.com and I will be glad to get you the wiring diagram. Many thanks!
Can you split firebird pickup?
Yes, you can...let me know if I can assist..Many thanks!
Thanks a lot!! I plan on building jazzmaster with 2 firebird pickups so I thinking to use rhythm circuit for split coils. Is it possible?
You can approach this a few ways: 1. Use a push pull on the volume control for split coil on the neck and a push pull on the tone control for the bridge split coil or: 2. use the rhythm circuit for the coil split for both pickups at the same time. I recommend you use Bourns 500K for the push pulls. In addition, a sozo .047 works great for the tone cap. I also use a sozo .002 cap with a 100K resistor for treble bleed on the volume control. You may also want to consider using Lollar mini humbuckers or Lollartrons (can't split em and they sound fabulous, the rhythm circuit would have better use in the Lollartron case). Please let me if need any of these parts. Thanks!
Give a listen to my demo using my 97 tele with mini humbucker too..Thanks!
***** Thank you so much. You really help me a lot. Greats demo too!
I thought that's what you meant, but you seem to be a dude with cash to throw around, so I thought that they might actually be tapped at the whatever winding and whatnot.
@EasyBreather000 ,
email me: DEI305@aol.com for the wiring diagram..Many thanks!
Andrew, please email me at DEI305@aol.com and I'll forward you the wiring diagram and additional info. Many thanks!
