You do not point out what buttons you are pushing each time. The speed of the video does not allow enough time to decipher what buttons are being pushed. The visual and audio quality are great, however. I might have missed it, but did you explain what you were doing to prevent the holes from forming in the pattern? Thank you for making the video.
Alright. I have to make more videos on the Garter carriage this coming week. I will ENSURE I focus on the Garter carriage settings and explain more. Thank you for this important input. This is really helpful.
Perfect. I am working on "slowing down" the videos where explanations are needed and "speeding up" the boring parts. I also want to split the videos better and Add an illustration with Arrows what to do. I was directed to a New video editor program - it should help.
Do you use the old type cast on comb with the end tab that enables you to hang it to the pegs ? I don't have such a comb and find it difficult to hold onto the comb keeping it parallel to the needle bed; do you have a trick ?
A trick not really. Even with my fractured wrist I had no issues using either style of comb. I had many years experience with the Weaved cast on with the Singer machines before I got my first Brother. So using the cast on comb in Both Directions came easy. It is even easy to use the Double E wrap cast the waste yarn on and then stab the tines of the cast on comb into it. I only acquired the handy cast on comb last summer. No preference really.
Hi, I followed your instructions but my yarn seems to be getting caught and is knitting a cord that is unattached to any needles (almost like a cast off edge) I don’t suppose you have any idea what might be causing this?
Yes it is the 88ii, I had it on a different machine and it worked fine and cast on perfectly but since switching it to a kh840 it just won’t cast on at all. I’m starting to think that possibly it’s an error with the punchcard mechanism rather than the garter carriage. Thank you for your replies and all your fantastic videos - I’m hoping to upgrade to an electronic machine soon after seeing your fab blanket knit video!!
Shouldn’t you knit a row with ravel cord before starting with th G carriage
nope. No ravel cord for me. I just clip the waste yarn end loop and pull.

Тупость.
Can this be done on the kg88 as well
nope. the KG88 does not do a E wrap cast on

All that I said earlier plus, have you ever tried a double e wrap? try it, then stab the points of the cast on comb into it.

Oh no! When I am home tonight I will see if I can help you out.
do you have the same garter carriage? 88ii? I found out the kg88 does not do the e wrap cast on.
And the machine needs to be ON not off. It sounds like you did a CAST OFF.

Ok I think that possibly the garter carriage just doesn’t work with the kh840, I’ll switch it back to the kh836 and hopefully have more success
