I remember Taemin and Naeun from Apink on We Got Married. I also recently re-watched it while I'm waiting for Taemin to come back from the military.
Those two actually had incredibly good chemistry on We Got Married. I won't speculate on their real feelings but purely from a show/entertainment perspective, they were supremely well matched and very adorable together. Their episodes were a lot of fun to watch and I don't even like reality shows like that anymore.
But behind the scenes it was a whole MESS. Some of the fans were acting a fool and harassing Naeun in the comments for being with their fav. Early on there was even an ep where they went on a date to a street market and some people were even bold enough to talk smack about her on the street with Taemin right next to her which totally shook them up.
Then there were altercations between the reality show staff and some of the fans. Also a staff member was exposed in an unaired video badmouthing Taemin which set the fans off again. THEN there was a show segment in which Taemin did something typical of a teenage boy/young adult man that really upset Naeun and people weren't sure if it was him or a script but either way it wasn't flattering which riled up the fans even more for making their oppa look "bad" when he was supposed to be perfect and only ever good.
Then to top it off, even though Taemin and Naeun worked through most of that on screen at least, their time on the show was abruptly stopped earlier than I think was expected. They got one of the typical couple's mission letters but this time it just said their marriage was ending so go on a final date. After being together for like 8 months on the show.
Post-show Taemin and Naeun still get flack for it from some of the netizens to this day if they are ever seen in public at the same event together. They almost never talk about it. It's too bad cuz, like I said, they had really cute chemistry and I think their friendship was really sweet. I can only hope they maintained a friendly relationship in private after the whole debacle.
a lot of couples don't talk about their time on the show but DAMN i didn't know all that was going on. I can only imagine that it happened to every one of the idols/actors. I don't understand how some fans can be like this, as a fan myself, I was just happy that there a reality show with this kind of concept, showing a different side to my favourite idols. How in their right minds do they think they can act like their idols owe them anything. So disgusting to this day
@@estoires_ So true. People who get it into their heads that they own celebrities/idols are so terrible. Like, these are people too. Also it was a FAKE and scripted "reality" tv show like why were they so pressed???
I still feel awful thinking Naeun especially had to endure that. She was usually the one who got the most disgusting and awful comments. But they were both 19 at the time, literally teenagers. It was so upsetting all around.
I can sometimes watch the show and just think about their performances but sometimes I just get reminded of how bad it got and it makes me depressed.
