- Now it's time to start sanding back the first skim of filler. It's not rocket science, so long as you know how ;)

Yes to these shorter format and more frequent videos. Easier to consume, for sure, and these vids coming along more often means more reminders to get my butt in the garage working on my own projects!
Keep up the great work, sir.
If it gets you out to the car it's good!
Shorter is fine, we enjoy your wit and candor. You've kept me going working on my 1971 Datsun 510 for the last year. Stay honest and your show will grow and grow! I'll give what I can.
Thanks a mil Jacob, glad the 510 is still coming on, stick with it mate!
Watching these body work specialists is just like watching magicians, to me! So skillful. Great change to the format too - I think short and sweet is good particularly if this makes it better/easier/more likely to keep them coming! Always really look forward to new episodes. Thank you sir!
Good to hear Jeroen, glad it's still working for you mate :)
I’ve become completely obsessed and inspired by this series of videos, cheers George!
Thanks a mill Karl
Appreciate this new format. I never cared for the interviews and skipped all of them.
It's a pic'n'mix ;)
One of the best bodywork demos I've seen on the net. Great job!
Brilliant to hear, I know I learned a lot :)
I welcome this shorter format, on the other hand, didn't you forget to number this episode in the title? Thanks for keeping the positive energy coming, George.
Well spotted mate cheers! 🍻
I am liking the new format, I got as much enjoyment out of this as the longer eps and if it’s more sustainable to produce then win win all round. Cheers 🍺
Can't be sure yet because the timeline is a bit skewed but on the face of it I think it'll be more sustainable. Have been working seven day weeks since the start in March '17 and I have to bring that back to five days for the good of my sanity. So here's to that working 😅
Awesome video, George...the shorter format seems very popular...for me it doesn't matter what length it is it's the content that grabs me. Mentioned before the Sprinter idea is a 'no brainer' and I look forward to seeing that develop. Funny how the Esprit restoration can suddenely be joined by so many other important bits regards 'Vehickle Mechanictrickery' and stuff. This tallies exactly with my Jag journey, those vehicle that are 'enablers' suddenely become part of the story. Great stuff...and only 3 more sleeps before Jed and I begin the journey home to Scotland. Thanks again for taking the time to produce and share this great series.
Thanks for the support Mal, and take it slow and steady on the big drive... ;) Good luck!
New Episode right bevore Bedtime. Perfect start for the weekend
night night ;)
Some of the best auto work footage on UA-cam. Sending you all the respect from the Motor City. Keep up the awesome work.
I very much like the new format. I really do enjoy the videos on actually working on the cars and seeing your progress.
Keep on the good work!
Cheers Jonnie, the evolution will continue. Hopefully it keeps growing!
love the shorter format, and the content too. Very sweet to see the evolution with the help of a pro! keep it coming! We need the same from a panel beater ;-)
Hoping to bring just that, very soon Nic. Thanks a mill for the feedback mate, much appreciated
An excellent video, bodywork really is a dark art! I like the new format too.
Have a blast at some bodywork, it's far more accessible than it looks. Cheers mate
Mate, I’m enjoying the new format. I started watching at episode 1 a few weeks ago, and have been enjoying a couple episodes a day. I recently repaired some rust holes in the dash of my Mazda B1600. Windscreen out. Man I had a lot of struggles getting the repair done, and it wasn’t nearly as neat as your getting it. But it got done, and it’ll get covered by Vinyl anyway.
Your doing a great job, keep it up
Another excellent production! As others have said, I also like the short format just as much as the longer.
Glad I have the option Mykl, gives me breathing room. thanks man
Loving the new episode format. That body prep sure is an art form!
Keep up the great work fella.
I'm working my way through all the episodes! The shorter episodes are great:) I know this comment is a little late but you're onto a good thing here!
lol thanks :)
Love the increased frequency, even if it is at a lower dosage. SOUP's my only UA-cam subscription / addiction. Definitely intrigued by your plans for the Sprinter!
we'll see what it does to the viewer figures Paul, I've a suspicion it might mean people come back less but who knows. Will start on the Sprinter asap because I'd like to paint it before winter gets a hold of it ;)
It is great to see you practice and get progressively better. One of my favourite parts of working on cars it just having a go - you learn so much more from your mistakes than your successes. Keep it up!
Crazy how just a little bit of knowledge can make you noticeably better very quickly. I'm all about having a go, its as rewarding for the experience as it is for the result. Thanks Adam :)
Love your videos George.
Yes I think the shorter format is working quite well.
You produce some really fantastic content mate.. I'm an avid watcher and can't wait to see you finish the Vogue. I've always had a soft spot for Range Rovers, but never owned one. They're so damn expensive here now and I couldn't afford the petrol anyway.
Keep up the good work!
love them short episodes keep on the good work
Appreciate it man thanks!
Enjoying new format, and your plans sound good to me!
Excellent mate thanks a mill!
George, love the new format, it's top quality as always!
Deadly, thanks a mill Mark
It baffles me how this content is so good but the subs are so low. I’m liking the in depth body work episodes.
I have to pay my dues Thomas, staying optimistic ;) Glad the bodywork stuff worked, I was worried I'd taken it too far but there was just so much in it, both theory and in actual work! Cheers pal.
Very interesting and informative and more important fun to watch video. Thanks George.
Glad it was fun, was worried there wasn't much banter in it this time. Thanks mate
I recommend the ESAB rebel. Im not a welder but its a good machine to learn on. It does mig, tig and stick. And the journeyman welders i work with say good things about them.
Swore I'd replied to this! Was eyeing up that model alright, would really love to get my hands on something that can do alu too. Good to know the ESAB gets a thumbs up from the guys. Thanks man
Liking the new format mate. Keep it up
Cheers Adam, always evolving
format is great and so good to learn more about bodywork. thanks
Enjoyed that George. I like the 'fun size' format!
I think it works better Tom so good to hear it. It provides me with a little head space and hopefully when I hone it a little more and get in a new rhythm ... maybe some time off, of a week. Thanks mate.
Loving your work George, definitely enjoying the shorter videos.
I am spraying my neighbors car now, its the blending that is difficult!
Hope it worked out Tom, and I'm enjoying the series evolution myself. Getting it down to a tee now and will start to bring the work/interesting people balance back in asap. Thanks mate.
Great vid George. Keep it up! Love your work..
Thanks Winston!
I love these new episodes! Keep it up.
Cheers Joe
Great work. Patience paid off!
Looking good my man!
Cheers Richard!
I'm really liking the task-based format - Further down the line it'll be easier to find 'the one about body filler' than the more variety based episodes (Which I love but are perhaps more of a 'TV" than UA-cam model in their format. Perhaps you could have a sort of side channel like MCM where you put your main things which (hopefully) still have some interviews on the main channel, but have the side channel where you post unexpurgated versions of interviews, or longer-form clips of work done or more eclectic, harder to pigeonhole content so it's sort of the best of both worlds. Probably more work though :)
Noted dude thanks. I did start a side channel hoping to do little videos and drive traffic here. Just aren't enough hours in the day! Pity because the one video I did manage to knock out was sharp; ua-cam.com/video/sGNibtVX11c/v-deo.html
Love that wiper vid - the stop motion doubly suits the short-form style - Bravo!
Really like that one too, just don't have the time and more importantly the cars with little easy fixes like that to use ;)
Great video on body work! Like all your videos!
About time you got on with that Esprit! I've nearly finished mine.
Isn't it though! Fell much better equipped for it now with this new knowledge! I'll be looking for finished photos btw ;)
@@soupclassicmotoring yes, those resin skills will come in handy. Have had to learn that stuff for a few things. Quite therapeutic and fulfilling work. Not a TLF member but Esprit S1 photos here: instagram.com/p/BciKTgtFKNB/?igshid=rps0g3z9b929
Great vid george. Really helpful as usual. Thanks bud.
Pleasure Steve, glad it helped.
A message from the past: I like the "new" format. Looking forward for the rest of the series: will you manage to build the camper? Will the Esprit get any work done? Will you relapse into playing guitar (great rough sound by the way).
Keep it up mate. And good luck .
Lol! Things have evolved a bit again since then, I hope you still approve :)
Another great video. Keep it up george
Cheers Tylor ;)
I’m starting to dig the intro song. I wonder if it is part of a complete song.
When you finally bring a part of the project to a professional after 30 episodes hahaha
You'll notice right handed people always feel for shape with the left as it's more sensitive, also feel for the shape with flat of your hand not your fingers tips and try feeling through some cloth, the lumps are more obvious
Thanks for the tips man, excuse the pun ;)
Loving the video series George mate. I might be odd but, I find filler and sanding quite cathartic. If you haven't already seen Home Built by Jeff you should check it out - there's a fella that isn't afraid to tackle anything and is always positive even when things go a little sideways. Keep em coming George!
Totally get the cathartic thing Alan, and yeah have seen Jeff's stuff. Don't get to watch much of anything these days! Thanks man
I'm too afraid of screwing up my project cars to actually learn bodywork on them, so I never get good at doing body work. Need to buy a new project car to learn on!
how could 4 ppl gives this the thumbs down ???
I think my Patreon pledge is linked to 30 minutes? I will adjust this as soon as I can remember my login.
David Hunter - for existing patrons we will only be billed for two episodes per month, so with the new shorter / more frequent format we will actually be getting more but paying the same. Personally, I’ve just upped my pledge a little to compensate.
@@rbgosling I understand that, but I checked a box that only releases funds for a set duration, I was unsure if it would release funds for a shorter episode. I see now that it has, so there was never actually a problem at all!
I had no idea this was a thing David! So glad you mentioned it and glad it released the funds 😆
Really appreciate it Richard! What's that the guy on the box says. 'gold for the price of silver' ;)
First mistake the more you play with the filler the worst it gets (should be done in as few strokes as possible),
second 80 grit for the first sanding is too smooth 40 grit is the most, (the smoother paper will cause waves),
and last is never ever apply filler over paint or primer, but hey what do I know only did body work for 25 years...
Double curvature.
DC ;)
