Something that was mentioned alot during this game was that the Lions' starters did not play much (if at all) during preseason, and this was their first time actually getting alot of reps in and getting back into shape
Honestly, I think the Rams might be the 2nd or 3rd best team in the NFC behind us after the dust settles this year. People slept on them because of their rocky start last year but they have a lethal offense and Jared Verse really might be him, and they have a lot of young talent that is going to improve this year on their Oline and on the defensive side. I genuinely think they might win the NFC West this year. I know it's only 1 game but our defense is also DEFINITELY better than last year. Philly just doesn't impress me, Jalen Hurts is not that great when he actually has to throw the ball to people who aren't wide open and/or are named AJ Brown and our run D can contain Saquon. SF fell off a bit this year; they had a horrid offseason and it feels like their window is closing as ours is fully opening. Ricky Pearsall just got shot, too. Good ole California. I also think people would be wise to not sleep on Minnesota as long as Aaron Jones and JJetta are healthy; they replaced Danielle Hunter with Dallas Turner in the draft and they also got a borderline elite LB from Houston for Hunter which a lot of people missed. Sam Darnold really might surprise people now that he's not in a shitshow of a situation and I'm even more concerned about JJ when he's healthy on that team. I'm not saying Darnold is gonna be MVP Goated this year but if he can be efficient and take care of the ball I could see them upsetting GB and pulling a wild card spot this season if GB doesn't live up to expectations.

I'm GLAD the Lions won this game in such ugly fashion. All the questions and disrespect I was still seeing put on my Lions even after the last 1.5 seasons going back to the 2nd half of 2022 was driving me mad. This season had better quiet the haters, Jameson Williams is HERE and he's WAY better than Josh Reynolds. Jared Goff didn't have his best game, ARSB was completely non-existent, LaPorta was quiet and we still found a way to win vs a really good team. Instead of disrespecting the stars (no one has 17 amazing games in a row and game 1 is always a shitshow for a lot of teams) credit the rest of the team and look at the ceiling considering who they beat and how they did it and think about where they're gonna be week 17 when they've had all season to gel and hone their game again; overall they played pretty horribly, as a Lions fan, and I am impressed how they won that game. Jared Goff did not throw a single forward pass in overtime, I love that style of football. Don't see it to that extreme very often these days. We are so back. The 2024 Lions are going to be even better than the 2023 Lions.
Stopping St. Brown is an obvious tactic for a DC to apply. Before the game i read a somewhat surprising comment from the Ram's DC that LaPorta was the keystone that needed to be stopped for the Rams to win. Turns out, from the post-game stats, that the Rams schemed to take both St. Brown and LaPorta out of the game, making them vulnerable to Williams' speed. For most of the second half, the Lions offense was anemic when Goff could not go to his two go-to receivers and the run holes just weren't there enough to move the chains on the ground. It was nice to see the Rams so concerned about the Lions pass rush to have set up a bunch of 2.0 second dink passes as their offense. It almost worked, but a dink offense always has trouble putting the ball in the end zone.
On-line said "we got this." Lol But everyone says jamo is our secret weapon... But actually it's Monty. Keep his legs fresh in case you need to go smash out 6 points.
