There’s a very special (in the educational sense) section of society which needs to stop pretending this is ‘normal’ and that we should just carry on as we are. Being in my mid 50s, I too recall a couple of storms worse than the past few years’ worth, but it needs pointing out that we are now suffering “once in a generation” climate events on a yearly, if not monthly, basis. Humans are causing this, whether or not our awful TV ‘news’ pedlars and so-called newspapers want us to accept it.
@@AndrewHill-ly2mh What exactly is it that humans are doing to cause it? The weather is cyclic in nature, there have always been floods, droughts, storms and snow. Since records began is a very small sample size, in a world that is millions of years old. If you want to save the world, spend your energy on stopping people breeding, not worrying about a bit of bad weather?
Fun Fact - On 16 January 1362, a violent storm in England wrecked many important buildings including Salisbury and Winchester cathedrals, and tore down hundreds of thousands of trees.
It was pretty breezy in the fens and Norfolk today - probably 40- 50mph gusts in the gaps but nowhere near what the north and west got! Thank you, Aidan.
Yes it did… a young man from my village is critical in hospital after a tree fell on his car, so yes, it was important and was needed, also a 49 year old man has died after falling slates hit him…there was fallen trees blocking a lot of roads… do you live under a rock?
Trees fall on cars all the time even without winds. There was a tree on the green by my house which many complained about. The council eventually came to look at it. Gave it a small push and was astonished that it moved. It was dead and ready to fall. It is sad about your young man.
That’s terrible. I hope the man from your village is ok. Edit: Looks like whatever the original idiotic comment was, that person was ashamed and deleted it…?👍🏻
Wow some people in the comments…this storm has been horrendous for many people…you do realise people had homes trashed, cars trashed, people died. But you’re all right Jack, so that’s all that matters. Childish🙄🙄🙄
@LouciferFlump Nobody is really bothered about the weather 300 miles away. Just like you arent bothered about a fatal car crash, unless it happens on a road near you...
Did it really merit the doom laden predictions and the emergency alert over mobile ‘phones? The “..there isn’t a hurricane coming..” gaffe clearly still echoes round the corridors of the Met office.
NW Eng: I had a long lie-in and got up to a fallen branch in the front garden and a plant pot that had been knocked over. It was brutal, I've applied for international aid... Thoughts and prayers 😧
Thanks for the weather warning in Kent.....I went out gardening at 8:00 am and stopped around 4:00pm. The leaves I swept into piles didnt even move and the brick path remained bone dry all day. If that is what an accurate forecast looks like, I wont bother in future! Nobody in the South East is concerned with weather in Ireland or Scotland. Why dont you provide local, accurate weather?
Also in Kent..c.6 miles N of F'stone..Heavy rain for a few hours early with strong gusting blasts.. Has blown away the repressive fug that has settled over my area for some time..... Weather can be very localised.. It's what it does... Recall the '87 'Event'...??
Thanks Aiden 🏴
Thanks aidan
Thank you, Aidan
Thank you 😊
I noticed that the Shetland and Orkneys don't exist for the met office.
They are underneath the blue rain as usual. Look closely.
They are both shown to scale on the weather map....
Baltasound, Unst, Shetland.

Say what you will but at least it blew away the dross cloud we’ve had and brought blue skies and sunshine.
That's exactly what I said 😊
Scary cause there’s a tree right in front of my house and I can fall on my fence
Get your ''Big Garden Bird Watch'' done in the morning while the weather is fine(ish).
Oh yeah! I nearly forgot!!!😮
Aidan, he pressure is already on the rise 8 hPa in the last 9h
A lot of weather we're having for the time of year
Imagine not being first
For what?
I have a question, do winds ever stop? Or, do they just change directions around the world.
They do stop. When the pressure difference is equalised.
I blame trump!
We should charge him tariffs 😂

@ you’re entitled to your opinion, I don’t share it.
Not seen nothing much than a windy winters day so far in Aberdeenshire barely worth mentioning.
It's been proper stormy winds on the west coast
Totally different on the west coast I can assure you.
Hope you appreciate how lucky you are, a lot of us are wondering how we are going to be able to pay for roof repairs.
meanwhile, northern spain 19º (used to be June temps around here)

I live in Ayrshire and yes it did merit the warnings. I'm 45 and have never seen a worse storm.
Worst storm I've seen and masses of property damage where I am.
@@carolirvine3367 Worse than 1987?
Far worse than 1987 with 250,000 homes in Ireland still without power @@PaulPaul-fo8qj

Not very windy in Inverness. Disappointed.
Well we had sunshine today down south
