Hi Nick, very informative update 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 just getting started with iTrain myself but will be using Z21 as the controller with Roco detectors. After watching this video I am renewed with vigour to get started over the Bank Holiday 🤞🏻 Wish me luck below the base boards 😉 Best wishes from County Wicklow ☘️
I'm not too sure at how the s88 units work, I didn't look at those. I needed around 90 feedback sections, but I will be adding around 30 more in the coming months with two more units.
@@Rule1ModelRailways Great, thanks again Nick. Really useful videos to see the set-up behind it all. keep up the great work. Am following with interest as I start down a similar path.
hi nick great video in how your system works sounds a bit complicated with all the detection points but i think it could be done on my layout with a bit of homework done by me. keep the videos coming and really enjoyed the stream last night. peter
Hi. Thinking of going DCC with Computer control. Was looking at a digitrax command station with Loconet. Didn't realise other suppliers used it. Not seen these DCC Digikeijs units before but they look good. Does the Digicentral unit do the same a digitrax or other command station?
Will it work with the 4088? I guess you would really only need 1-5088 per layout, and it would identify the locomotive and then the 4088 would keep track of them.
hi nick just come back into the hobby going in n gauge and doing a scenic side and fiddle yard. I want to start dcc automation i will be going down the itrain route but my question is what would i need just to get me started in running trains i will add points and detection later i just want to run trains to start with and i am looking at the yamorc YD7100???? Please help me out thanks mate. peter from birmingham
Hi nick Thank you for your quick reply I knew you would be the one to answer this with your massive n gauge layout which I hope you still got as that has been my inspiration for my new build. And I am going to build the track in readiness for detection. If I have any more questions hope I can come to yourself. But could I ask could you maybe do a video on how to wire for block detection in an easy way??? Many thanks again. Peter
I appreciate this video is now 2 years old, but can you answer this question for me please. On the blocks where turnouts are located are these turnouts powered separately from the blocks preceeding them and isolated from blocks before and after. Hope that makes sense.
A block should never have a turnout as you need one defined entry and exit per block. You have then blocks before and after turnouts. Kind regards Matt
Railcom is feeatured in some DCC decoders, and it allows the software to read which loco is in which block without me having to tell it which loco is which first. You can also program on the main as well without wiping out all the other DCC decoders addresses.
@@Rule1ModelRailways , I use LENZ loco decoders at the moment apart from one Hornsby loco that was purchased DCC installed, so will these have Railcom feature. I am starting up for the first time using DR5000 and just getting to grips with it all
I am planning a new layout, could you explain the blocks in more detail and how / where these should be placed. I see you use 3 blocks for the station platforms, should these be particular lengths etc
@@Rule1ModelRailways That would be most useful, be good to get an idea of what is required before I start laying any track down, so I can make sure I get the blocks in the right places.
Very good Nick it was informative however you missed out a basic requirement for the system and that's having a basic understanding of the technology lol cheers Andy
Thanks for sharing this video and information
Thanks for taking the time to watch!

Thanks Paul! I look forward to seeing you implement it! :D
Nice one Nick, I hadn't considered using a 5088 feedback over the 4088, and using Railcom enabled decoders. Looks like a no-brainer.
Thanks, they are good but they do cost extra
@@Rule1ModelRailways Sure, I guess you can't use the S88's, so need the full 5088 each time ? How many feedbacks do you have for that sized layout ?

Thank you Peter! One your head is around it all, its not too bad
If you are not going to record the screen directly, it would really help if you used a tripod.

It does, and more. Only thing is you have to buy a handheld controller separately if you wish to also go handheld.
Will it work with the 4088?
I guess you would really only need 1-5088 per layout, and it would identify the locomotive and then the 4088 would keep track of them.
That's exactly thr principle, that will work with iTrain :)
I need to look up a comparison between iTrain and JMRI.
I can only assume that since it is paid it is a more refined program, but I am very curious.
I haven't any experience with JMRI, but I did hear it is more work involved

Hi, you'll need to lay the track for block detection from the off, and a YD7100

Are you using the 4018 for point motor control?
I am using dcc concepts ads8sx units and traintec units :)
What is Railcom that you mentioned fitted to some of your loco’s

can you run itrian soft on 2 monitors and how can u do it
