  • This channel is dedicated to all of the other ‘tits in a shed’ out there. Unlike many UA-camrs and ‘influencers’ out there, my motivation for this channel is not to be on UA-cam. Bikes are a hobby for me and I love my hobby and it is a welcome distraction from, lets face it, the rest of the real world.
For me, this channel is a welcome by-product of my hobby. While, in contrast to a busy personal/professional life, I love the relative solitude of ‘titting around in a shed’. UA-cam allows me to share it, gain insight from others and, just as importantly seek help when I get stuck or mess something up.
It might surprise you that there is no Patreon link in this speal as it is where most people stash it. I don’t have Patreon and nor do I have any intention in starting one. This is my hobby and I don’t see why I should try and get money out of others to do so. My channel is monetised which brings a tiny income but that is mainly because UA-cam put adverts in anyway; why not use it to by carb cleaner once a month! You may also notice that very rarely come out with the ‘click like and subscribe’ comment either. This probably doesn’t do the channels slow growth a great deal of good either but I find it annoying when other UA-camrs do it all the time.
All I ask is some interaction. If you like what you see, please let me know. If you know a better way of doing something or spot (one of many) mistakes, then drop me a comment and help me or others doing a similar task do it better next time.
Above all, I am Nat and welcome to my nackers yard. I hope you enjoy the journey.
P.S. I know that Nackers should start with a K to describe the old horse yards but NKY sounded a bit too much like a lube!

Never turn an engine over backwards. It can cause the cam chain to go slack as it only tensions on one side

Why didnt you show the earlier part where you checked it wasnt a snapped cam chain and the valves were hitting the pistons before you forced it over with a breaker bar? Also both sides of the fuse will be positive You need to probe the fuse down to earth to see a voltage

Fair one and thanks for the suggestions. I took them on board for the next upload.

As a retired mechanic, I cringed when I saw you forcing that locked up engine to turn over without even lifting the cam cover to check the cams were turning. I hope you haven't done some serious damage.

I think the electrics are the least of your worries. She turns over all the way, next step , get the engine stripped to see why it was seized and if it can be rebuilt.

Those old Honda 250/400 twin engines are tidy looking lumps (when new anyway!) Perhaps you and Ryan should combine your two old dogs to make one decent machine? Nice work on unseizing the engine - 50/50 acetone and ATF or diesel is also good for freeing up rusted bores.

Oh Nat, you absolute bastard. Did you find it in a barn?
Also, get your missus to help you lift the motor out, they're very heavy for a 250 :P
Looks pretty tidy. As far as electrics go, you would not expect to see a voltage across the terminals of a fuse unless the fuse itself was blown. If you want to see if you're getting power, red lead on the fuse, and the black lead on the earth. Or pull the fuse out and see if you're got a voltage over the terminals. I'd tend to chuck some diesel in the bores rather than 2 stroke oil, it creeps all over the place, it's great stuff is diesel. Or you could mix some water in your 2 stroke oil, makes it super slippery apparently.
    Also, CRANK IT! CRANK IT!

I used seafoams deep creep not cheap but very effective on my seized pistons on myxs650 and pistons were top dead centre

Nat, patience & determination like a Bull. Next thing will be a direct hardwire from battery to starter!
I’d change the festoon fuses to common blade types with a semi sealed cover. Looks like you only need a 3 type.
Will this bike be partially or fully restored Nat?
