Another thing to be cautious of is when you are charging your batteries all day to say go cruising that night and you get done charging them and start hitting the switch right away your batteries can get really hot. It’s best to let them cool for a while after charging before using them.
Great comment! This is something I didn’t think about but should have added. You are not suppose to use a battery as soon as it’s charged, it can weaken the battery.
I use the 1072 ...10 amp setting if in a hurry for 4 or 5 hours ...let em cool down for 30 minutes and check them with multimeter..if it's 13 to 13.5 volts it's done if not, plug it another hour or 2 ..also I was told to let batteries rest at least 30 minutes after charge before hitting the switch.. something to do with longevity I suppose..great info in this video, thanks Russell 👍
Had that just happen on one of my batteries. In my Monte....had a puncture on the bottom that I never noticed...took everything out and had to give the trunk a baking soda bath to get all the leakage out. Had that funk smell for a bit too...
I like 6 amp battery charger but I use the charge/maintain chargers that also tells me what percentage batteries are at and how many volts it's putting out.. eBay 18$..
How do you feel about the Schumacher 1072 charger? I use that one, but like you said, it doesn’t have an automatic shut off. I think I’m going to get one you suggested. Keep up the great videos. I appreciate it.
Personally I like to charge each battery individually and must have a shut off. That’s just my opinion though. I know lots of people that use them. I like to keep track of each battery individually, that way if I see one battery taking longer than usual to charge, I can keep an eye on it to see if it has a problem. Appreciate your support!
All accurate facts. You know what you are talking about. I'm old skool too! What current do you run for electrolysis? Does higher current speed up the process or does it level off around a certain amperage?
I don’t know all the science behind it but I believe from my experience the bigger the bath and part the more amperage you need. Doing a smaller part on a higher amperage does create more bubbles faster so I assume it is working faster. I still tend to leave it in the bucket overnight no matter what amperage. I tried it on a hood and it took several days because the bath was so big.
I live in VA and i don’t really drive my car in the winter is there any advice you can give me as far as making sure the cold don’t damage my batteries when spring comes around?
The cold and heat will mess with batteries. I’d charge them to full on a slow 2-4 amp charge until full. Charger must have auto shut off when full. Charge them about once a month to make sure they stay pretty full. Other than that, just hit the switch about once every few weeks to make sure the oil stays on all the parts that need to stay oiled. Hope that helps homie.
3 weeks ago with new air compressor motor you only need 96 volt battery.... they using a normal dry cars battery....4 battery actually already enough if you just lift up and down your cars slowly with your air suspension...but for me I recommend you to install 8 battery cause to respect the wali even it gonna add cost while you refill the gas...one more things to make sure survivor for thier business....jump 4 way setup will be recommend for new lowrider member, especially if you have bunch of friends, and it will help them business to since so many things need to be purchases.
Depends on use and charging habits. If put on 2-6 amp charge after every use and not let them run dead, they can last 4-6 years probably. Usual replacement is in the 2-4 year range for a street car.
Personally not a fan. I’m not a fan of the chargers that charge 4 battery’s in series. I personally charge my golf cart with 4 independent chargers. I left my golf cart at a friends house that had that type of charger, he charged it overnight, next day it showed fully charged. Drove it for about 10 minutes and it was already almost dead. Come to find out they don’t charge as well as charging independent. Needless to say after that he never used that charger again on his hydraulics.
@@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS Thanks for the quick response.. I have one for my lowrider but never used it...I was taught to charge a battery for 2 hours on a 10 Amp charger.i have 2 10 Amp chargers that I always used..
Im new to the low rider game i put a two pump system on my 69 Cadillac i have two battery thats dead can i change the two or i have to change all 4? Even if the other two batteries are good
You can change 2 as long as they are still good and as long as they are the same battery. Don’t mix match. Preferred method is to change all 4 but it’s not a must.
I’ve seen this as well however I believe it makes no difference. A battery will charge to full either way. It may be a better connection to the lead part of the posts but a solid connection is a solid connection.
Thanks for input bro San Jose CA I have a cutlass 6 batterys 2 pumps And I just put 6 new solenoids now we tryed to hit switch and just clicks my mechanic said the batterys are not charged
@@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS Thanks brother one more quick question I have a pro series charger 200 amp can I just charge the 6 batterys all at once on the 40 amp switch for 30 mins or so
I don’t suggest it. I don’t charge on anything over 6 amps personally. If you read the manufacture recommendations they advise not to charge over 10 amps. Anything over 10 amps will break down the batteries and reduce the battery life. Personally I charge mine on 4 amps. The chargers I use have a cut off when the battery is full. Slow charging will be a better charge, batteries won’t go dead as fast either.
I would be interested if new lithium battery technology could be useful in this application . Has anyone successfully tried yet ? Also brushless motor technology seems to go great for some power tools like drills . Not so much for grinders or chops saws though .

@@LOWRIDERHYDRAULICS is this charge good for a Lay n Play? 6 batteries, and will it charge all 6 at one time? Sorry for the question. VERY new to hydraulics.
Alot of the lithium ion batteries for cars don't put out the cca's that the lead acids do which is what your looking for and I'm not even sure if they make a deep cycle lithium battery which is what you wanna run on hydraulics
Depends, if you are asking how long do batteries last on a setup before needing to be charged, that would depend on how often you use your switches. If you use them conservatively then you could go weeks before having to charge but if you use them often, you’ll need to charge them about once a week. I just get into a habit of putting them on a 4 amp trickle charge after each use so they are always ready to go. If you mean how often does an unused deep cycle batter last on a single charge, few months. I have a bunch of brand new batteries in my shop I charge about once a month just to be sure they are full.
That’s a hard one to answer. Once you’ve had your setup for a little while you can tell when they need to be charged. As a general rule I charge once a week if it’s a daily driver. Personally I would throw them on the charge every time I parked it out of habit. The chargers I use shut off when the battery is full and slow chargers on 4 amps. This habit made it so I am always ready to ride.
Hard to say for sure. Could be damaged batteries. I would take them and have them load tested and if they have any kind of warranty, replace them. If no warranty, try charging them on a slow charge like 2 amps for several days and see if it improves. My guess is the batteries are damaged or over charged. May be time to replace them.

Either find a battery with the same CCA and power or replace them all. It’s never good to run different power batteries together.
