Yes!!! Please make a video about how you afforded it! My boyfriend and I are 19 as well and are working towards buying and converting our own van, so I’d love to hear your tips!!!
Cool breakdown! Buying a van with almost 300k miles is risky. But if there's any van that you can do that with, it's the Sprinter. Great job budgeting wisely!
@@Cuntmilk sprinters tend to be among the most reliable in the long run, so if you picked 100 vans working fine with 300k miles on them, sprinters would be very over-represented
I'm a lot older than you guys and seeing you do this, its amazing!! I love that you kept a spreadsheet and can't wait to follow you guys on your adventures! (The instagram link on this video doesnt work, fyi.)
In Australia it's way more expensive in every way to build and buy a decent van. My sprinter van had done 330k when brought. Now 400k 6 years later. Spent a lot on some repairs but it's still going ok. Rust will probably kill it , not km's .
Hi @@veganfromvenus , when a car or van engine is worn out due to having done too many miles (usually 250,000+) you can get what is called as an "engine rebuild" done by a mechanic. It just means that they take the engine apart and replace all the worn out parts, clean it, and put it back together. It saves having to get a new engine and is nearly as good as a new engine if its done properly
Thanks for the feedback! We filmed a video all about this but we weren't happy with the footage. We do plan on refilming it, so keep an eye out in the future!
Hi my husband and I are wanting to start the process of converting a van. We have a dog and we would want to get an ac can you explain how the ac works?
Good question! Honestly, we probably wouldn’t. If we had full flexibility to travel with the seasons, an AC isn’t entirely necessary. Since we have family here and don’t want to be limited when we can visit because of weather, it made sense for us. It also gives us the option to find an RV park and plug in when we are in warm places. Just depends on your priorities!

Work hard and save hard...its that simple
Haha fancy seeing you here!! That’s so funny 😂

Ballwiz 23 how come you can do that with a sprinter and not other vans?

Awesome, brilliant tip to keep an extremely detailed list of costs for insurance!
Great. My 2006 Sprinter has 388000 miles on it, runs perfect
Awesome. I'm glad to see that the majority of the expenses are items that can be moved to another van in the future.
I love that you included all the little nuts and bolts sort of breakdowns!!!!

Wow what great information thank you guys for sharing! That’s a huge help for those of us planning to build one!
Great video guys and very impressive documentation on the costs.
You can get a rebuild done later on the mileage is not a huge issue
That was exactly our approach!
Can you explain what a rebuild is on mileage ? Please

THANK YOU! Great info!!

I love watching you two so much fun. I’m really interested in having this done. How do I go about looking for a van? Thank you so much.
Hey how about that awesome delivery of that wonderful composting toilet? Great video guys. Enjoy hearing about your van adventures.
Pam Candler you can now check off “Checking a toilet at the airline baggage counter” off your bucket list!
It takes a village I guess! We appreciate you and Jon for the team effort!
Kensie & Joey
You guys are awesome! 💕
.... and Jon Tobey is awesome too!
Very informational and good video, thank you!😊
Hope u guys have a great Christmas
Same to you!
Dang someone drove the heck out that thing. Diesels will last a lot longer then a gas engine though so the high mileage isn't terrible.
omg the most useful van conversion video ever, thank you so much
It would be great to hear about your savings strategies xx

Good info! You will probably have to rebuild or replace the engine down the road! #KJ
How much do you spend the month living in a van
What websites did you use to find the van?
And what is your plan to make money while you are on the road?
Craigslist, auto trader, car gurus, and anything else that came up! We found this one on Craigslist.
So glad I found your channel :)
$8,594.71 if you wanted to know quickly
Impressive. Kudos!
great video! which size motorized ball did you get for the 5 gallon grey tank?
What was the fridge and a/c that you all bought? And you are happy with both?
Both products are listed in the description with a link! We love both of them.
How do you guys get water into your water tank??
Thank you for sharing...

If your home base wasn’t in Arizona where it’s 130°, would you still put effort into an AC?

Who do you have your insurance with?
Wtf? Why did this show up on a budget build search?! Lol the van was more than a lot of van+builds!
USD1340 for a refrigarator why these are so expensive?
Have ya'll been in the van long enough to say how often you go through the 5 gal propane tank?
It lasts us about 2 months and we use it every day!
Where’s my shout out for picking up the toilet! Lol
Thank you Jon! We wouldn’t be able to poop in the van without you!😂
