I always get SO EXCITED when I see you have uploaded a new video because you have this marvelous way of finding breath taking cross stitch for me to buy and do!! You are incredible!
Finally, after a few manic weeks I am able to catch up on your last 3 videos. Love your WIPs. The SAL is so gorgeous, I will have a look to start soon 🥰 you are definitely making me want to get back inti my knitting. Gorgeous yarns 💕
Love your channel! I found it last week and binged each episode while I sew and now I am all caught up! Thank you for introducing Quaker patterns to me.! I’ve never seen them before and now I want to stitch all of them!
I love the stitching and the blanket! I have never knitted a blanket before...it's always been too daunting to me. I've crocheted many though. I absolutely love that moment when the blanket is long enough to cover my lap...it just makes working on it that much more fun.
@@Xstitchmd I find it easier than knitting. I am just starting a flosstube channel with some crochet stuff thrown in. I worked with a designer on her crochet granny cocoon. It's called Doodle and String. Btw...you are tempting me to try color work again. I've only done it once and my floats were way too loose and I wasn't happy with it.
All your projects are great! I know what you mean about following people and getting inspiration to purchase more yarn .... you do the same thing to me with your videos 😂 ... I hope your knitting and stitching can bring you some comfort this Christmas and help a little with not being able to see your family ❤️
Hi Shiloh. Love all yr knitting projects. Yr shawls and socks are closely. Well done on yr hello deer finish. So cute! Loving all yr yarn haul. Such lovely colours. U finish so many things. I'm obsessed with crafty haul. And don't have enough time to start most of them however wehen I or if I ever retire I'm sorted! 😊 Anyway lovely to catch up with u. Have a great week, take care & catch you again soon. Xxxx
What a great surprise to see my Skyppy Stripes on your needles! I love your yarn, it's gorgeous! Greetings from a fellow knitting podcaster from Germany :)
OMG! The yarns you have chosen for your projects are so beautiful! You have a great eye for color! Yes, so many amazing dyers out there; it is difficult to not buy everything. I can’t wait to try colorwork! I bought a pattern from Cozy Up Knits to try, so wish me luck when I finally decide to try it. I have to go back and watch a few more YT videos. I believe Vollenvine has one I recently watched! I am with you, I want to knit all the things and you continue to inspire me! Love all the cross stitch too. I have a lot of WIP’s, but can’t stop knitting! Have a wonderful holiday season!!
Loved the glamping blanket so much that I started my own! Love this pattern as a fairly new knitter. Lots to learn. You give us new knitters such inspiration (and enabling) since I am also venturing into socks! 😉
I love all your projects and can't wait to start #NewYearBookcaseSAL! I absolutely love all your knitting projects, especially the smarties socks! I blame you and black ribbon studio for getting back into knitting and expanding my knowledge base . :)
I am just itching to get started on Hello Deer but have to wait for the fabric to arrive! Just a thought....if I have multiple designs that are seasonal I often purchase a ready made frame from someone like Michaels, mount the needlework on foam core and then I can switch it out several times each year easily. Much easier to just store a piece of needlework in a drawer than find a place to stash all those framed items. If it is a quite small piece I just iron it well, serge or pink the edges and do not bother mounting on the foam core. I love that I can change up the pieces I display so easily. That might work for you with Hello Deer since you want to do the others as well. Best of luck. Cheers.
Wow! Awesome job with that blanket! It looks so soft and squishy! I call dibs if I ever come over to your house! You are an amazing knitter. I am up to my ears in cross stitch, trying to get one more big project finish before the end of the year. I also joined the Ann Morison group from Traditional Stitchers so I’m getting to play with 100.3 silk for the first time! I’m glad that you picked up Rose Quaker- that is definitely on my list at some point! Have a good two weeks! Hugs 🤗
Yes! Totally going to join you on the BookcaseSAL! I can't wait to do that one. Your dragons project is looking awesome with that dark blue. I started Squirrels of Sumatra with some Sulky blendables- Autumn over a dark fabric- and I love it. I'm doing Forests with a Sulky blendables color, too. I love Ink Circles!!! Your Winter Wonderland project is beautiful. The colors are SO lovely, cute motifs too. I like the coverage on that, too. You're getting better coverage with 2 strands over 2 on 36 count than I am, but I could be twisting my strands. Always look forward to seeing what projects you are up to! I'm torn between cross stitch and knitting around this time of year, too.
You are amazing and I admire you so much. I am trying to get into cross stitch but to get to your level my goodness will take soooooo long. But love love your work of are and your talent. ❤️❤️❤️

Oooou lots of gorgeous yarns, I’m in love with the blanket, I’m so tempted but.....I have two blanket/throws started , about a third done and are now stuffed in bags. I have ADD, I know me, I love the look of lovely big projects but I just can’t seem to keep at them to finish so it’s better to not start.😥😩. I might get a shawl finished but I don’t wear them and no one else in the family does either so again😩. I have managed to finish a few cowls so I may be tempted to try the tube knit one, I like colourwork so will have to check out that pattern. All your projects are looking good, I like seeing your progress, your needles must be on fire, I don’t know how you get so much done. I used to work nights a lot at the Children’s unit and did get a lot of knitting and sewing done then. Sorry to hear you won’t get home for Christmas😥, I hope you won’t be alone . Take care, stay safe and well. 🙋🏼
I know what you mean about wanting to buy from small supply makers. It's hard to not click "buy"! A friend recently gifted me her cross stitch/whitework stash so I just keep telling myself I already have way more linen and evenweave than I can use in my lifetime. If I want colored versions, I can dye it myself.
Thanks Shiloh for sharing your updates. I'm so slow when I knit and stitch (prolly because I do other things as well) but I am amazed how quickly you did your colourwork cowl. Tell me, can you chat whilst you're doing it, or are you like me and have to focus on it fully? I have done some zoom meetings whilst crocheting/knitting and always end up having to frog what I've done 🤣. Anyhoo your yarn stash is growing, here in the UK there are SO many indie dyers I have to resist, just got a kit from riverknits to make some fingerless mitts. If I ever finish them I will post them on Instagram. Anyhoo, I plod along and eventually finish something!
Lol - I can chat for a bit except when it’s a part where I have to count!! Last night I got a whole bunch done while watching a movie so there was no talking involved lol. If I’m knitting plain stockinette, I can definitely chat & knit! (I bring a sock to knit on most times I’m over at other people’s houses lol) And there are too many amazing indie dyers!! I want to support them all!!

So happy to see you back. Just received my first order of evenweave from 123 Stitch, it arrived sooner than I thought it would. Now I can pick the colours, going to do the books in different colours. Your finishes always so cheerful!

So how are you enjoying your Naughty advent calendar so far? I also didn't have a clue what the animal-shaped flat pieces of wood were for. haha. But I've been putting them to good use while knitting the shawl. I'm not 100% sold on the gauge yet (I'm a super tight knitter and even this it a bit too loose for me) but it's a beautiful yarn so I may use the skeins for another project. Let me know how you're finding it!
I am loving the yarn but haven’t started the shawl yet!! I didn’t have the right needle size, so it’s on order & I’m hoping they arrive soon!! It’s definitely a super loose gauge - I’m interested to see how it works up!
@@Xstitchmd well knowing you, it'll knit up in a heartbeat hehe. I actually stopped opening my days because I was falling behind and want to knit in the colour order provided. Plus I also decided to try another design in a tighter gauge. It's gotta spark joy, right?
Great question!! For a stitch along, you generally start the project on the same day as everyone else (Jan 1 for this one!) & then post your progress on Instagram using the hashtag #NewYearBookcaseSAL so everyone can see your progress! It’s super motivating & inspiring to see how everyone decides to stitch the chart in terms of different colours of floss & fabric. I hope you can join!! (And if you don’t do Instagram, you can totally stitch along anyway!)
Your knitting is awesome. How long have you been stitching? I love knitting but do very little now because it hurts my fingers. I’ve had splinters in a knitting needle. Depending how bit it is and where it is you can use fine sandpaper to smooth out.

I usually do one leg across the row & then go back over the other way, but sometimes also complete the whole stitch at once. Both are totally right! It’s all just your preference 😊
Life’s too short to wear matching socks, I say 😉 I have a thousand stitching questions though (well two) Do you purchase your fabric at it’s right size? - I can see it’s serged. Also, do you count from the middle of your chart to start? I’ve noticed you always start in the top left - I’d be worried I’d miscounted 😱 💜🏴
I purchase my fabric usually as fat quarters (18 x 27) & it comes serged that way! I usually have to cut it down to the size I need, but sometimes I use the whole piece! As for starting in the corner, I make sure I have a 2 inch border all the way around accounted for in my fabric measurement & then I measure two inches in & down & start there!! No counting required 😊

How do you stitch so that back look so good that back looks as good as the front and what does it mean two over one or one over two
Lots of practice!! Also I make sure not to knot my thread at all. 😊
“two over one” means using two strands of floss over one thread of fabric (one square of Aida). “One over two” means using one strand of floss over two threads of linen. I hope that makes sense?
