Kind of looked like a puppy and now I can’t unsee it. You are a true inspiration and enabler. Keep stitching and connecting. Annie
Their yarn is pretty much all I've used for years. The quality is great and a sweater won't blow my budget. I've gotten into the habit of buying their bare undyed yarn and dyeing it for projects as needed. It stretches my money further and I don't end up with extra skeins of yarn in a color that's not part of a planned project.

Shilo, wow for the finished knitting and starts...your whips...for cross stitch and knitting...enjoyed every minute of your video...hope you are doing well...best wishes and happy stitching and knitting❤️
I always wind my yarn twice. First time from the swift and the second time I put it in a basket and rewind. You don’t want the ball t be to tight. This causes it to pop out in the middle. I usually lightly let the yarn go through my fingers. I hope this helps. Love that shawl now I have to knit it.

i love your channel! just a ball winding tip, you might be winding too tight. it should be loose enough to not stretch out the yarn, but tight enough to hold its shape. i'm a knitter and youtube recommended your channel. i just ordered my first cross stitch supplies because you make it look like so much fun!
That is SOOOOO helpful - thank you!!! I think I was winding it too tightly! And YAY for becoming a stitcher!!!! It is so so fun - you will love it! What pattern are you planning on doing?

Check out the skypt sock pattern, it’s a free pattern super easy with a bit of interest. Love all your cross-stitch projects as well. Have an awesome week! 💕
I was quite happy to see you put up a new episode since I binge watched your first 17 in about a week! The Rockefeller was my first Steven West pattern. I love the Art Deco/Greco style of it. I knit it from Lunabud Knits deep dyed Yarns in the Good Juju base. She’s from Kentucky just outside of Lexington and her hand-dyed yarn is exquisite. She has a website. Check her out. The Rockefeller is a really good size but not one of his biggest but still, it is as comforting as a blanket around my neck.
Looking forward to the Winter Wonderland SAL. I wasn’t going to do any Christmas stitching!!! 🤣 Think I’ve got fabric and thread picked out, but there is still time to change my mind 100 times!
Shiloh, I think if you ever give up doctoring you could work up a great comedy routine around knitting! I was laughing so hard at your “amazing ball winding skills” and your “it’s not my camera, its a Mystery!” that I had tears rolling down my face! Of course I guess you would have to be a knitter or stitcher to get the inside jokes...hmm. That could bring down the box office a bit! But I have been involved in one of those ball winding “accidents” so I know how you felt. It’s even more fun if you live in a 2-story house and your ball rolls happily down the stairs, unwinding itself as it goes! I’m loving all of your shawls- your color combinations are fabulous. And your stitching is wonderful, as always. You stay warm and safe in Nova Scotia- it’s just beginning to act like it’s going to get seriously cold here in Chicago. But I love it! And you! ❤️
Hahaha - I'm so glad you "get" my comedy style lol. And oh gosh - that sounds absolutely awful to have the ball roll down the stairs!!! Thanks for watching!!
I am so happy that I stumbled on your channel, you are talented and delightful. My question is this: when you cross stitch, do you use an embroidery hoop or a frame? If it's a hoop, do you every run into the hoop pulling your sewn threads out of shape when the hoop is on top of a finished area?
Hi Karen! I use a hoop to stitch! I do use the hoop over stitches I’ve already done, but I don’t find it distorts them too much. I always take my hoop off when I’m done stitching, which helps as well! And then when I’ve finished the piece, I iron it face-down & that seems to plump all the stitches back up! 😊
Have done the star flake shawl and participating in the new slip stitch kal as well...Mostly use and even dye the yarns from Knit Pics because of the price even though I am from Canada and the exchange is just ridiculous...great pod cast
So if you use a long double pointed needle like 26" or 28" an work both did at the same time then you get the pair of 🧦 socks instead of 1 sock at a time. So you put 1/2 of each sock stiches on one side of the needles an the other 1/2 of the sock stiches on the opposite side of the needles. An you can use the outside of the skein for one sock an the inside of the skein for the 2nd sock.
Your shawl is really professional, I love it. I’m left handed and my mum is a right handed highly skilled knitter who could only teach me RH but as it has never felt natural I never kept it up. How do you knit left handed? Also, could you do some teaching videos for cross stitching on higher count linen rather than Aida cloth? Thank you from BC.
I totally binged all your episodes since I love your style and am a fellow Canuck! Residing in Oshawa 😀. But now I want more. Can you release an episode every hour please? 😂🤣

Your shawls look so AMAZING! I always want to start the Mystery knit alongs but I’m afraid I will be confused by the pattern. Did you say there are videos to help you?
I’ve decided to join your SAL of Winter Wonderland. I’ve ordered 32 count fabric. What size needles do you use when stitching in 32 count? What is your favorite brand of needle for that count?
Check out the "now & next" sock pattern by Hey Brownberry on ravelry, she inserts two measurements that help determine the perfect fitting sock for top down socks with heel flap and gusset construction. It really explained why I have a hard time getting a good fit across the diagonal of my ankle
Great video! I love seeing your knitting projects. You’ve inspired me to start to learn. Not really sure what my first steps should be though - any tips for getting started?
Yay!! Knitting is so much fun!! I would start with watching some UA-cam tutorials - it’s super helpful to be able to see someone doing the stitches & try to do it along with them. Caroline from Off the Grid Needlearts has an awesome “Learn to Knit” video series!!
I'd love to do the SAL but I don't have an iPhone. I went to the Silk Stitching site and signed up for the Google Play/Android waiting list -- is there an estimated time when that will be available? Will it be available before the SAL starts? If not, is there some other way to get the pattern? PDF download perhaps? Or if it will be available soon, maybe we (Android users) could get some info on supplies to stock up on in preparation (flosses, fabric, etc.)? Thanks!!
I’m not sure when the app will be available 😞 They do have paper charts available for purchase at www.historischestickmuster.de/collections/new/products/winterwunderland-stickvorlage-stickpackung & you could see if that could work for you? Fingers crossed you’ll be able to join!!
Hi! I've recently started watching your videos (I'm in NB) and am enjoying your content. I wonder if you can suggest the best place to buy fabric online for cross stitch in Canada? I recently bought some aida at Fabricville and it's so stiff! I washed it multiple times but am not happy with it, still. I need 14 count for my project and used to have some very soft aida-type cloth (in my stash from years ago so I can't remember where I bought it) and am trying to figure out where to get it. Ideas?
Hi, I am new. I was taught all crafts from my mom. Except quilting which I taught myself. I only recently got back into knitting and such. I lost my mom (best friend, Hero) in July from cancer. I am still missing her horribly. Anyway, I mKE lot of lap quilts for nursing home and such. I am now growing my stitch knowledge. I love your videos. I feel I have a friend again. (I am disabled). I would love to try one of the ink circles but can't find any kits or patterns. HELP Thank you. Gina
Hi Gina! So sorry to hear about your loss ❤️ Knitting & stitching are such a comfort!! Ink Circles sells some patterns as PDF downloads on their website: inkcircles.com or you can buy paper patterns from any needlework shops! (I order from 123Stitch.com very often lol)
Girl, we gotta talk about your relationship with that ball winder. The reason your cakes keep doing that it you’ve got a tension problem. Your ball winder is pulling too hard on the swift to get it to spin which pulls the yarn on the ball very tight, then once it’s going your swift is spinning faster than the winder is taking up which releases all the tension and causes the yarn to tangle. You might want to try tensioning through your hand as you wind until you get used to it. Also, when a cake messes up, you can take that cake off the winder and rewind it from the cake then hand tension until you start picking up from the swift again.
OMG THANK YOU!!!!! This is totally what I was doing wrong! Thank you for explaining it sooooo clearly - now I need to go wind some balls to practice! lol
Hi Shiloh! I've started my first quaker, and most of the pattern is symmetrical except there's a circular motif is not and it's driving me insane. Would you mirror the pattern to make them symmetrical??
If it bothers you, then YES, I would change it!! I personally like a bit of asymmetry, but if your eye is automatically going to it every time you look at it, then change it!! (Also, what pattern are you stitching?)
I am going to stitch the Hope sampler and I am going to order the floss now. The model is on 40 count but I will probably going to do it on 32 count. Do you think I will have enough floss with one skein of each?
I’m sorry if you’ve answered this before but I’d love to know what knitting 🧶 UA-cam Channels you like to watch or could recommend, specially if they are left handed knitters. Thank you in advance.
I love watching Natalie @KnittyNatty - she has awesome tutorials & shows how to do things both left & right handed! Caroline @OffTheGridNeedlearts also has an awesome “Learn to Knit” series, but it is right-handed
Hi Shiloh. Im a knitter and a stitcher too and am thinking we need a stitchy versin of Ravelry. Stitchery or something much more clever. I"m already struggling to keep track of my stitching projects and finding sources for charts which are all over the place would be so much easier. Imagine a searchable data base of people"s stitching with what thread and fibre they used
“I wonder if she is going to rap that shawl around her face… … …yay!” -I have not turned that into a drinking game at all!- And now we know what Agnes will be like when she grows up.
Hello! I’ve been following for awhile and love your energy and expertise. I ordered the SAL pattern and thread. What count will you be doing? I’ve done one piece in 32 count but not sure I can go smaller. It’s a big piece at 19.5 x 20 on 32. Also, it’s kind of scary not to have a paper pattern to hold but, oh, well :)
You got this!!! The thing I love the most about virtual patterns is that you can zoom in on the pattern & see all the symbols clearly!! I'll be stitching mine on 36 count linen - it will look beautiful on 32 count as well! The stitched area on 32 count is 11 x 12 (so I'm guessing your fabric measurement is for the whole piece with margins for framing?) You can do it!!
Catching up on your flosstube! Love your stitching and really enjoying your mystery knit!

Gina
Hi Gina! So sorry to hear about your loss ❤️
Knitting & stitching are such a comfort!!
Thank you for explaining it sooooo clearly - now I need to go wind some balls to practice! lol
Are you still working on your Twisted Band Sampler? I was which version you are stitching. Thanks☺
I really need to pull it back out!! It’s been at least a few months since I’ve worked on it lol
What type of fabric do you use for your cross stitch creations?
Which project were you asking about? I try to mention the fabric when I’m talking about the project, but I might have forgotten? Lol
@@Xstitchmd since it's my first quaker, I think I'll stick to the pattern! I'm stitching My Token of Love by Karen Kluba from Rosewood Manor
Ooooh that one is gorgeous!!! It will look good with or without the symmetry 😊
I am going to stitch the Hope sampler and I am going to order the floss now. The model is on 40 count but I will probably going to do it on 32 count. Do you think I will have enough floss with one skein of each?
I think so!! I’m using two strands of floss & I just purchased one skein of each & I still have plenty left! 😊
@@Xstitchmd thanks. I love seeing your progress. It is beautiful and by the way, she has a beautiful new sampler and she is having a sale now
I’m sorry if you’ve answered this before but I’d love to know what knitting 🧶 UA-cam Channels you like to watch or could recommend, specially if they are left handed knitters. Thank you in advance.
I love watching Natalie @KnittyNatty - she has awesome tutorials & shows how to do things both left & right handed! Caroline @OffTheGridNeedlearts also has an awesome “Learn to Knit” series, but it is right-handed
@@Xstitchmd thank you so much!
Hi Shiloh. Im a knitter and a stitcher too and am thinking we need a stitchy versin of Ravelry. Stitchery or something much more clever. I"m already struggling to keep track of my stitching projects and finding sources for charts which are all over the place would be so much easier. Imagine a searchable data base of people"s stitching with what thread and fibre they used
Yes!!! Tiffany from tiffinstitches & I were talking about that! It needs to happen!!
@@Xstitchmd Absolutely! If there's anything I can do to help, let me know!!
“I wonder if she is going to rap that shawl around her face… … …yay!” -I have not turned that into a drinking game at all!- And now we know what Agnes will be like when she grows up.
Lololol - yup only slightly predictable over here. BUT IT'S SO SOFT I HAVE TO lol
@@Xstitchmd LOL
The colour story yarn is a layer cake 😂
Hahahaha - it totally is!!
🤗
