- Jerry Abbott, father of late Pantera legends Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell, has died at the age of 80. Jerry Abbott was the original manager and producer of Pantera.

They were well known all over the state when I was 12, a decade later, when I started playing guitar and reading more about other musicians. They were all definitely top tier. Dime is a phenom imo and my favorite. So sad man..

Jerry Abbott was so much more than just Dime & Vinnie's dad . There aren't enough words to describe what a truly exceptional musician, father and husband Jerry was. Him and Carolyn remained friends. As devastating and heartbreaking it is for me anyway I''m at peace just knowing that finally they're all united again. Thank you Jerry Abbott. Rest in Paradise

The Abbotts are such a tragic family. I remember an interview with Vinnie Paul with Sabian Cymbals back in 2002 showing off his amazing crib with the Crown Royal shaped pool. He talked about how he hated smoking because it killed his mother.
Two years later, Dimebag was murdered, then Vinnie died of a heart attack... The sheer pain he must have gone through in his last years is heartbreaking. Rest in peace to one of the best musical families of modern times.

Jerry lived with the needless death of Dime for almost 20 years. As a father, it breaks my heart to think of losing a child in such a manner, much less two children before their time. My hat is off to you Jerry. Rest in Heavenly peace.
Jerry raised 2 of the greatest metal legends to ever exist! I can't imagine what he went through having both his boys pass before him, but obviously, without him, metal would never have taken that next step it needed! R.I.P. Dadbag 🤘

The Abbott's family have always been so cool to me growing up in Tx and starting to play guitar at the time. Rip to him, much respect, heart goes out to the rest of the family also. Thank God he created Dime (my personal favorite guitarist) and a brother for a drummer who is just as talented as his brother was. Effortless southern groove, with precision, but so phenomenal also. He will be missed. 🙏

Jerry was a legend, a shadow member of Pantera in the early years. His production skills rubbing off on the boys helped bring that massive sound to life and then some. Big respect to Jerry Abbott!

RIP Jerry Abbott! I couldn't imagine how it felt loosing your kids before you died. My great grandma had 3 kids and all of them passed away before she did. It's difficult for families, I know from first-hand experience. My blessings go out to the family of Abbott!
