To every medico, This is what I should have known before entering medical school. It's okay to say an embarrassingly wrong answer during rounds(in front of the chief, PGs and your batchmates), It's okay if you feel like an alien on the first day of your posting but remember that there's no shame in learning from the staff. But it's not okay to lose interest in learning. Because every single day is your new chance at learning. Remember that human beings are different from each other, for example it took me two days to read, analyse and understand a few topics in GM, I thought I was a "duller" but to my surprise I scored 70% in general medicine which is pretty decent for me. Take your time with the topics you're weak in, don't forget the topics you're good at and let ppl make fun of you. (One girl made fun of me in third yr for a dumb answer I said, she failed GM... Karma exists, so stay calm and study) Good luck.
So true.. 5.5 yrs is so long we get in as an enthu kid and pass out as an adult. And if anyone is living in hostel...a completely different person comes back home 😁😅😅
I want to be a programmer.But I also want to have a doctor in family(after I realized how useful doctors can be in a family as both my parents are doctors.But all my relatives always calls them and that looks irritating.So I dont want to be a doctor).So,I decided I would like to marry a woman who is a doctor.
This brings me back to 2004 or 05, i have a very vivid memory of the year but during that year, one of my cousin brother got selected for both Jee and Pmt(Neet), he was very enthusiastic to pursue his dream of becoming an engineer, he yelled at me whole night screaming i'll become an engineer, but as the dawn arised and the next day started, he went to his parents and just for the formality he asked whether should he go for engineering or medical, and his parents urged him to go for medical instead, he tried his best trying to consult his parents for an entire week but nothing came to change thier mind and he was sent to a medical college, i saw the sadness beneath his soul as he left for the medical college leaving behind his dream of engineering but beside all sad odds, he completed his mbbs in clean and 15 years by now he is a proud orthopedic .

Some of my film courses were in the same building as the medical courses (the larger rooms and large screens were great for medical diagrams and film screenings!) and I always had mad respect for the med students talking about their homework and exams! It always made me feel lucky that my exams relied on pretty much movie trivia, world history/events that shaped the way and reason films were made, and equations for f-stops or lighting and all that.
Well said doc. The last point though the most accurate. It doesnt end there. Learning goes on and on even if u become well established in your field. You still have to keep striving to do better for your patients. The passion for medicine keeps us going...i think

Yes. Thank you for your honest comments. I can relate. I failed for the first time in med school. And transition from being the best to just be happy with just passing is a hard reality. But ultimately, the numbers don't matter and the college rank doesn't matter. It matters how you are as a person and a clinician. Studies become lifelong and a part of your life. It does get easier if you come to love the subject and want to be a help to your patients. Also, starting a family and having close friends happen along the way.

Don't give up. Just hang in there and try to do your work with dedication. But, don't forget to take short breaks. You will definitely do well in future. Don't give up. Please don't. Biology in +2 is a trap , you feel like you can achieve here in Medicine (by getting stupid marks in easy subject Biology), but all you do is Documentation and cocktail regimen ( fluid , pantop ondem , taxim ) Even if you do half the hard work as you do for Neet pG in Engineering , you'll be selected for abroad companies and live a better life

I've always wanted to ask real doctors this...is MBBS harder than B.A (Objectively)? Because some english majors get really annoyed when you point out that not all courses require equal effort. We should respect all professions, obviously, but this has been a long going debate.

Don't worry dude, I have been through this, I got 3rd rank from my school in 10 and joined college, there was huge competition and got scared a bit, but don't worry, you have to study properly don't worry about others and just be yourself, you might be slow learner but you can achieve your goals when done regularly and consistently 👍

Maybe you can listen to some soothing instrumental music while studying :) it helps me a lot to concentrate. If you can't study continuously for long hours, take 5 minutes break after an hour of studying. That might work. Do remember that you are here in med school because you could achieve that, and you are one among the achievers. If you could get into medicine, you sure as well can sail/ swim through it :)
Try video lectures , I had a problem with studying from books (concentration problems). Video lectures were very beneficial to me . See video lectures first and then read the textbook like a storybook. In my 1st and 2nd years I just barely used to pass my exams but after video lectures I was always in the top 15 of my class.

The biggest challenge for MBBS INDIA is its NOT considered Equivalent to MBBS in UK or USA that too in this Internet age !!!!!!! Very unfair especially for Meritorious but Middle class doctors

You'll have to write TOEFL(English exam) and USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 2 CS and probably also Step 3. Quite a lot of exams.

It was a love hate relationship the way I relate to this 💀
so if you are not a topper don't join mbbs
Biology in +2 is a trap , you feel like you can achieve here in Medicine (by getting stupid marks in easy subject Biology), but all you do is Documentation and cocktail regimen ( fluid , pantop ondem , taxim )
Even if you do half the hard work as you do for Neet pG in Engineering , you'll be selected for abroad companies and live a better life

I've always wanted to ask real doctors this...is MBBS harder than B.A (Objectively)? Because some english majors get really annoyed when you point out that not all courses require equal effort. We should respect all professions, obviously, but this has been a long going debate.
U can't just compare Even BSc with MBBS.. How dare you to compare with BA!!! Not everyone can join MBBS!!! Everyone can do BA be it's a class topper or someone who scores even 35% in school!! Someone who can't even score 85% in school, can't crack the NEET exam! Oh sorry! U even have no idea about what NEET is.. LOL..

I don't know why I am writing it here . But I have seen many comments (especially of 11th class students) . I'm also in 11th.. (ah this shivering). I sometimes feel like have I choosen the right for me or am I wrong. What should I do . Sometimes I feel like loosing everything. I cry in my room without anybody knowing. maybe because till 10th I scored good marks becoming topper but now everything has changed. And the competition also . Is there anyone who can relate with me or do feel same!?
Don't worry dude, I have been through this, I got 3rd rank from my school in 10 and joined college, there was huge competition and got scared a bit, but don't worry, you have to study properly don't worry about others and just be yourself, you might be slow learner but you can achieve your goals when done regularly and consistently 👍

Take a break dear , may a two days and remember that you can do it . Make a time table and stick to it

Maybe you can listen to some soothing instrumental music while studying :) it helps me a lot to concentrate.
If you can't study continuously for long hours, take 5 minutes break after an hour of studying. That might work.
Do remember that you are here in med school because you could achieve that, and you are one among the achievers. If you could get into medicine, you sure as well can sail/ swim through it :)
Are u in Govt medical college or private medical college?
Try video lectures , I had a problem with studying from books (concentration problems). Video lectures were very beneficial to me .
See video lectures first and then read the textbook like a storybook.
In my 1st and 2nd years I just barely used to pass my exams but after video lectures I was always in the top 15 of my class.
I never toped in my clas. But i love bio and chem,so mbbs is for me. ?
