Just make sure you guys get some roofing patching material and have someone go up on the roof to patch any holes before replacing the plywood ceiling. We had to patch many holes in our old tin roof. You guys get so much more rain than we do here in Bohol.
I don't think you guys know the joy you bring to others. I have a large family but we are nowhere close to being as loving toward each other as you guys are. We're all too busy living our own lives. When I watch your videos I feel as if I'm a part of your family.
A family's closeness has much to do with how well the parents raise and instilled good moral values and character in their children. Marissa has stated that her father was strict and enforced discipline if household chores and homework were not accomplished and the children's attitudes and behavior were not polite and respectful. Both parents have good work ethic, are good providers, humble, and show their love and concern through their actions and demeanor. They work together and depend on each other in order to sustain the greater good of the entire family. It's the way American families used to be until the late 1960's rolled around, and the modern era started taking shape.
Mariben, sorry about your bedroom, but look at it this way. It's time for a change. Now that you are speaking better English and can drive, you may be able to become independent. You seem to want that, and maybe the Universe is pushing you.
It will be difficult for her to be completely independent without secure employment. That would encompass her returning to a university and getting a degree in something worthwhile. If not that route, she would have to find a decent, financially stable 1st world nation foreigner to marry and get employment in that foreigners country. The other option is to learn English well and work at a call center in Davao. Otherwise, she has to accept living a simple life on the family farm or with Dennis and Marissa. I believe she is currently working on establishing a quality foreigner relationship and not rushing things.
I love that you guys bond together with joy despite the roof damage. We could all learn a lot from your family.
