In space, no one can hear you morse.... Beat on the hull all you want. No one will hear because you need air to transmit sound, and there ain't none outside. Whatever Naomi's doing out there, it's her last chance to wreck Marco's plans before Alex sticks his foot in the high-explosive bear trap. She's not going to waste it beating uselessly on the walls.
My main theory is that she's gonna try and make the Chetzemoka explode before the Razorback and Rocinante get too close, but it's also got to have something to do with the water on her suit cuz she looked at it before going in
So a couple of episodes ago Amos said he needs to get back to his crew because he realised he was making bad decisions, making unethical decisions right? Since then, Clarissa has clearly tried to make more ethical decisions and she's even had a number of conversations with him and others that have alluded to that. It's really intriguing to see Amos, absent his guiding lights in Naomi and Holden, now starting to recognise this and beginning to defer to her for direction when he's unsure of what the ethical thing to do is. He's just such an interesting character.
I have been enjoying reaction video's about the Expanse a ton lately (Rapidly creeping up my best of all time series list and honestly only "The Wire" compares at this point in my opinion. I just want to point out two amazing details that some might have missed. In the one-shot gunfight, when they hide behind the stainless canisters in the hanger, the are labeled as "empty" so nobody can throw down "why didn't they blow up?!" The second tiny detail is the glass on the shuttle is damaged from they gunfire took escaping, as Amos looks at earth presumably for the last time.

The opening scene is telling about Marco. He’s sending the sub factions against opponents while keeping himself out of the fight. And they lost 80% of their forces to the UN Mars groups 66%. He’s pressed the factions into service, taken hostages from their crews and placed his security agents in those fleets. How much do you want to wager that the one surviving belter ship was the one with Marco’s narc onboard.
actually he lost 4 people while earth lost one ship , other withdrew. mars ship was "lost" . however i do agree they portray marco as one dimensional cardboard villain in show.
Y'alls reaction was almost as intense as the scene you were reacting to. When you yelled this is nuts. I yelled so is this! To myself 😂 best reaction ever; I wanna see you fellers as a belter crew next season so flippin bad
I think Naomi is trying to break the pipe for some reason. Also, she didn’t close the door back, so she might only have the air in her suit at this point and no more.
The whole less talking thing is not for our benefit (though it is, indirectly) it's so you guys don't miss important things. Sometimes I'll be watching a show thinking "I can't wait to see how they react to this line," but when I get here Mickey or someone else is talking about something that happened last week or some other irrelevant thing at that exact moment. I remember it happened a lot with The Boys. Obviously you guys are fun to watch and your talking is actually the best part of the reactions but could you maybe try to better judge when important dialogue is coming? The problem is not really the talking at all, only the missing things. Just my perspective
I know I mentioned this last time, but all the Naomi stuff reminds me so much of The Martian, and I love that the authors of The Expanse & The Martian have unofficially made them in the same timeline (and it got a nod in the show, too!).
if he was white, you'd have SJWs crying "cultural appropriation". this would probably short circuit their brain. Also, Surj looks like an 80's character. what's up with the headband.
Honestly there's one "Dany kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet" moment in this episode, and that's Erich's guys not using their helicopter as a patrol and air support. And them not at all preparing for the eventual fight with the security forces, which they all knew was coming. The same thing happened in The Mandalorian, in the episode that introduced Cara Dune, they spend all this time fortifying the village to protect against the AT-ST, but Mando has a ship that can EASILY take out an AT-ST, and never tries to go get it, even though he has plenty of time
Fuel and attention. We don't know how much fuel they had for the helo and constant flight may attract more of the wrong kind of attention. Also, they _were_ prepared for the attack, which is why Amos yelled at the henchman for not being on watch.
Ok, Christjen doesn't have a plan, it just let's get more info and make strategic attacks, that's a waiting game, but that's not real possibility most times, I have also found it funny, as a former soldier, folks tend to not remember the feelings of 9/11, just like then, in the show you can imagine the attitude and feelings of earth as they lost millions lives, the majority of the people will want to attack anybody, so the acting leader is doing what the people want, I can promise you, and yes, it is also funny how people say take your feelings out of it, they make judgements out of feelings, almost EVERYBODY does that today. See previous real life events.
But the response to 9/11 included invasions of two different countries in a war that continues to date and we're still not sleeping peacefully. What is more significant is that the US learned no lesson. Despite the fact that Osama bin Laden telegraphed his intent for a decade (remember that the first World Trade Center attack was in 1993), and made the reasons for his continued attacks clear ("Get your military out of the Muslim Holy Land"), the US continues to maintain its "We were just sitting here innocently and got attacked out of the blue for no reason" stand point...which is what the UN is doing in this story.
All the characters in this show are so good. For me, this show will go down as one of tv greats, along with Star Trek (TOS)-Babylon 5 & Firefly. The quote "The Once and Future King" is from the King Arther books and so he's comparing "Chrissy" to him. That would make Holden and crew the knights of the round table?
Sorry Nahid, gotta disagree with you about Clarissa stopping the firefight She saved their lives in that first standoff. Amos just had a wrench, and all of them were out in the open, without any body armor, while the security force had body armor, and clear shots at Amos, Erich and Hutch. Even if Erich's guys on the balcony took out the security forces, Amos and Erich would be dead. We can argue about whether Erich's guys should have shot them as they walked away, but that's not Peaches' problem. And it's not Clarissa's fault that Erich's guys did a shitty job of defending the house, even knowing that those security guys were coming back, and that when they DID come back, they stupidly stood out in the open instead of staying indoors in a defensible position, or taking cover, or going indoors. Erich should have had guys doing patrols on the ridgeline since the house is surrounded by hills, or they should have stayed in the hangar, and fortified their position there. Instead, only one guy was set as a watch, and he was trying to get laid instead of watching from the roof, then stood in a lit balcony door, making him the easiest target ever. The incompetence of Erich and his goons got them killed, not Clarissa's good faith effort to deescalate a standoff that would almost certainly have have killed Amos.
If they had shot it out with those rent-a-cops people on both sides would have died immediately and their buddies would have still attacked later, causing more deaths. If Amos had died in the crossfire the ship would have never gotten repaired and then everyone would have died from the cold. Clarissa saw her friend standing in the middle of twelve people holding automatic weapons while holding nothing but a wrench. Of course she's going to try to de-escalate the situation! That's just practical, not to mention the moral element of murder being bad.

This season has left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I don't think it's bad at all but in my opinion it's the weakest season, even with Gaugamela. Visually it's stunning and as always the cast is fantastic but there are a couple things that have taken me out of the show every now and then. Naomi's story line being one of them. After everything what Naomi, James and the crew have been through for her to pull out another "This is something I have to do on my own" card actually left me kind of peeved. She's done it so many times already and it always backfires, so to see she hasn't learned from past experiences was frustrating. Also the stuff between Naomi, Marco and her son to me has fell kinda flat. I get she loves her son and hasn't seen him in a VERY long time but come on dude, he just helped murder hundreds of millions of innocent civilians and will most likely be partially responsible for billions more. Their scenes together of her feeling overly remorseful for leaving him and him being the borderline angsty "You were never there for me Mooom!" teen type character didn't fit with the severity that was happening with the rest of the show. On a bit of a nit pick, while I do like Owens in the role of Filip, the actors doing a fine job and he's the spitting image of Tipper. Everytime I see them together though I can't help ask "geez did Naomi give birth when she was 12 or something?" He just looks a little old to play her son or she looks a little to young to be his mother. They look more like brother and sister to me, again totally just a nit pick lol. Another draw back has been how they've treated Baby Mao and her "Mao Smash!" mode. I preferred the style and strength of it back in season 3. The few times we saw her use it, sure she became more aggressive with heightened strength but it didn't appear to be anything like this season. That first scene she used it in S3 did a fantastic job of showing how powerful and brutal she can be, or in the finale when she essentially saves the day was another great display her abilities. This season we don't see her doing anything with it. She uses it, but we don't see it. That one shot of her when she attacks the dude in the woods it cuts to like a weird shaky cam POV that looks like it was taken straight out of an X-Files episode and by that I just mean it looked kinda cheap and dated (by todays standards). The next time she uses it it just cuts away and when it comes back, it's already over, she killed like 20 dudes with assault rifles off screen, a little disappointing. Plus how strong and fast does she get when she takes it now? Not only does she go Mao Smash but she's like a hybrid Hulk/Wolverine now. I like the actress and Mao's character and was glad to see her come back this season, they just haven't really done anything with her other then she's there and has a get out of jail free card. My 2 biggest issues with this season are Marco and no real gate travel. Marco I don't find interesting in the slightest. I find him way to generic and forgettable. Mostly everyone has such a unique look and personality to them but Marco for me just doesn't have anything to offer (other then being a super handsome dude). I know this is already way to long so as far as the Gates i'll just say I was hoping for a little something from them. I understand after last season you can't keep going back, turning the show into another star trek or stargate. But something would've been nice. On a closing positive note I'm loving pretty much everything else. Amos and Mao, Drummer, Alex, James all their stuff has been very enjoyable and some of the best. Again, I don't hate or dislike this season. If you're enjoying the stuff I'm not that's awesome. This was just my opinion and wondered if anyone else was feeling the same. Looking forward to the finale and can't wait for six.
I agree with you in that this is one of the weakest seasons. I'll have to re watch season 4 to decide if I like that better than this one. It sucks too because the trailer made it seem like the best season of the series was about to air. The reason this season is weak probably has to do with the branching storylines of our main characters. The crew has mostly stuck together in the previous seasons or at least could communicate with each other. The strength of this show comes from the relationship between the crew of the Rocinante. It is still a strong season of television but not for the show in general. Go back and watch seasons 1-3 and I promise you'll feel a different way about the show...the stakes are higher, the characters have more depth and the overall narrative is more interesting. The show feels a little bland now and I'm not as excited for new episodes. And yes not showing Clarissa kill all those guards using her implants sucks. It looked so frightening in season 3. A real shame for me is the lack of Bobbie and Alex. They feel wasted this season and it sucks because Cas Anvar is leaving the show. My hopes for season 6 are not high but the books still exist and they're probably better. I hate to say it but this is the pattern for modern television. Start off with a couple or few amazing seasons and then get lazy with the writing and storytelling until the series concludes. Examples I can think of are The Walking Dead, Game of thrones, Vikings, Fargo, Shameless, Stranger things, Westworld, The Umbrella Academy and The Boys. Some of these shows only have 2 seasons and they are already on the decline.
Marco manilpulates his son with convenient truth, she said she loves filip with all her heart, but she still left and chose to save her new family, to Filip, even tho he hit her and he treated her a way, she gave up just like before, she didn't fight for him with her all. Marco is telling the truth, it falls on his side. Marco still has real love for his son.

On a side note ppl keep saying killing Belters would just piss off the others and make them want to fight ummm how many ppl on Earth do you think are now running to enlist to get revenge for the millions of ppl that just died.
She stated her plan very clearly. To use the fractured nature of the belt to turn belters who were not with Marco and work with them while hitting targets that were aligned with Marco and choking off the already barely existent supply lines of the belt. ". On a side note ppl keep saying killing Belters would just piss off the others and make them want to fight ummm how many ppl on Earth do you think are now running to enlist to get revenge for the millions of ppl that just died." We can look at just the last 20 years of history here and now to see the allegory. What has happened since 9/11? The US has engaged in two decades of warfare in the middle East that ended up driving way more people to the causes of the forces fighting against the US, eventually giving rise to ISIS. Additionally, how many people on Earth get riled up doesn't really matter. It's how many ships they have. The belters aren't going to be landing ground troops on Earth to have a fight, and Earth already has enough people to man the ships they have.
@@davebcf1231 Yea went back and saw were she said about trying to turn Belters and they said it would take to long but tbh they should of at least tried and the attacking the supply lines was part of Delgados plan. Also how do we know how many ships Earth has and if they have enough ppl and wouldnt u need actual troops to fight Belters who side with Marco that are on the stations.
@@jayj4408 We don't know an exact number of ships Earth has in the way you asked. They've never given an exact number that I remember. What we know is that they have a standing navy. Those ships were manned and flying when the attack occurred. That's how we know they have however many ships they had left after the war with Mars and the people to man them. They have a standing military just like militaries we see now, not a collection of random factions like the belt. Millions more people joining that military would do nothing if they're stuck on Earth because the ships they have are already manned and out in the system. That also answers your question of who fights belters should they have to. They still have UN marines. Not to mention fighting with ground forces in those stations was not something either Chrisjean or Delgado suggested they do. If Earth were to need reserves they have the people, but that was true before the attack as well. With so many unemployed and living in poverty it'd be pretty easy to find willing recruits.
They will be watching One Piece before they watch Bleach. Probably to replace Naruto when they complete. They have mentioned One Piece quite a few times over the years, but i don't recall them ever mentioning Bleach. But we will see i guess.
Earthers talking about doing better after 130yrs of killing slowly, oppressing, using and abusing the Belt and Belters, maybe Marco hitting the Earth have had some effect, after all, either than that, Avasarala a leader who never got elected, Clarissa is the opposite of crazy and that makes her also crazy, and everything that Naomi did with comms and message was actually pointless..
It's great when you talk over dialogue. We've already watched the show. And... how else are you gonna call out your conspiracy theories right before they happen??!!
it's not great when they talk over the dialogue, because THEY haven't seen it yet and THEY will miss things when THEY'RE busy talking. we don't complain about them talking over dialogue because we're trying to watch along. it's because we want them to actually follow and understand what they are watching. it's no surprise that Suraj is constantly lost and not understanding certain things when he spends more time talking than anybody else.

"We can't let emotions make these choices".
Me: And yet he's letting his emotions get in the way of his choices.
Exactly!!
It is not clear what he meant by that.
@@AzkuulaKtaktu It seems to me he was using Chrisjen's emotional state over the death of her husband as an excuse to ignore her input. He failed to see the irony because he and Delgado were confusing their own rage and anger as some form of stoic strength, while Chrisjen was advocating for setting aside emotion and trying to focus on taking the moral high ground.
@@AzkuulaKtaktu He's willing to attack every Belter faction even if they're not all in league with Marco and innocent people who had nothing to do with the attack on Earth. It's seems pretty clear what he's trying to do and in a hurry to do it.
Yep if a woman is showing emotion she is weak, but if a man shows emotion in the form of blood thirsty for vengeance, it's "logical".
That one shot though, woooooo! I had to Ric Flair that because Wes Chatham, the writer, and actress that played Melba talked about it a lot in their interview. They had hundreds of extras, cranes, lights in a wind tunnel to shoot that with live ammunition(blanks). Whatever Naomi's doing out there, it's her last chance to wreck Marco's plans before Alex sticks his foot in the high-explosive bear trap. She's not going to waste it beating uselessly on the walls.
My main theory is that she's gonna try and make the Chetzemoka explode before the Razorback and Rocinante get too close, but it's also got to have something to do with the water on her suit cuz she looked at it before going in
Why is Suraj dressed like a One Piece character?
The real question is Why isn't everyone else
If only he had gone with the full head bandana, instead of the headband look. Man
So a couple of episodes ago Amos said he needs to get back to his crew because he realised he was making bad decisions, making unethical decisions right? Since then, Clarissa has clearly tried to make more ethical decisions and she's even had a number of conversations with him and others that have alluded to that. It's really intriguing to see Amos, absent his guiding lights in Naomi and Holden, now starting to recognise this and beginning to defer to her for direction when he's unsure of what the ethical thing to do is.
He's just such an interesting character.

Ganymede is neutral/shared territory
Joint UN and Martian. Bobbie and her Marines were guarding the border between UN and Martian territory in season 2 on Ganymede
Sorry Nahid, gotta disagree with you about Clarissa stopping the firefight
She saved their lives in that first standoff.

No way morse code by banging on the hull would work. Sound doesn't travel through a vacuum.

". On a side note ppl keep saying killing Belters would just piss off the others and make them want to fight ummm how many ppl on Earth do you think are now running to enlist to get revenge for the millions of ppl that just died."
We can look at just the last 20 years of history here and now to see the allegory.

How did Clarissa help Eric’s crew? Because of her they all died (except for maybe one). 🤦🏾♀️
Clarissa attacked them all?
Well for one, she was the only one with experience flying a shuttle like that. And second, if a firefight broke out with the security crew in their first visit, it's highly likely Erich, Amos, or both would have been shot given they were right in the front with no cover. And it wouldn't necessarily guarantee they wouldn't have ben set upon by their compatriots later anyway.
