    Tyco 440x2’s & now RaceMasters are super fast cars, while T-Jets normal runs✨👍🏻

    Yeah, the sixties cars would slide in the turns, and if you timed it right, you could knock your opponent off the track. I remember spinning a 180, running backwards, and doing another 180 to right the car, all without touching it. Then came magna-traction, and it seemed to lose something. I'm glad I kept all my old cars.

    I so agree with you about liking the slower moving cars. My brother and I had an Aurora T-Jet set from the early 60's with the gray, steering wheel, speedometer, controllers and if you went too fast on the curves, off they went! It took a bit of skill to drive them and we all did like to watch them as they went around the track. We were fortunate in that we had a large basement, and after saving up money from our allowances and odd jobs, we had enough money to buy all the track we needed for the "Pan American Mexico" layout that was shown in the back of the sets instruction manual. It was setup on a 4x8 sheet of plywood set on sawhorses and it provided hours of fun for us and our friends.

    we use a rubber eraser to clean the armature where the brushes dirty them up.as kids in the late 60s we would put a dab of oil on each side to spin the tires like at the drags.we would even get a cigarette and blow smoke thru a straw under the car while they are doing their burn outs.god it was cool to be a kid back then.

    I ended up with the Giant Raceway set over your right shoulder, someone left it at my house, and I ran my cars from the 70s on it. That was the first time they had been run in 40 years. Thanks for keeping this all alive. Love your videos

      I hope i get an answer here. I have a bunch of tyco stock cars. Like the 440’s. Will they run on the giant track. If so will they run with the new cars. The nrw cars look like they never fall off.

    Thanks for the video. I'm 36 and have been doing vintage hot wheels for about 20 years. Ive seen slots all my life, but never got into them. I didn't even realize autoworld made slots until this past week when I noticed the candy striper gasser slot car. Ive watched about 10 of your videos and am now interested in learning the differences between the different cars like T-jets, Xtraction, etc. So this video was helpful for that. If memory serves me correctly, my cars growing up were lifelike brand. Thanks again.

    The Tomy AFX cars are very similar to the Older Tyco. HP Cars HP2 and HP7. Most of my collection is Tyco. I grew up with those cars starting in the early 70's.

    My favorite chassis was the Lifelike/Rokar, very simple to work on and only used two magnets for both motor and traction. my second fav was the tyco 440x2 had one with stock arm with cobalt motor and traction magnets, it was a literal terror on our twisty track

  • @johnstezelecki8157
    @johnstezelecki8157 4 роки тому +4

    I agree that the slower cars with less magnatraction are more realistic, they look like a car, act like cars and feel like cars. I think that the worse thing that happened H O scale slot cars is when the manufacturers placed such strong magnets in the car as to dominate the chassis rather than just assist the chassis.

      Nothing better than going sideways around corners, nothing beats the Tyco Pro cars with the brass pan chassis circa 1970's

    • @d.e.b.b5788
      @d.e.b.b5788 2 роки тому

      John, I think the big attraction to magnets was to make the cars easier for the little kids to use without them coming off the track. I, too, find them less than fun, for the same reason you do. I actually prefer cars that need more skill to get them around the track quickly without spinning out or flying off the track. The magnet cars stay down until they don't, and then don't spin out, they just fly off the end of the track.

    Thank you so much for this short video examples of the various chassis available. I grew up in the 60's, and all we had were Tjets and tyco worm gear drive cars. I got out of the hobby right after the Tyco pro cars started coming out. When I checked 1/24 recently, the cars don't even come close to resembling anything I knew (I had just started soldering my own brass rod chassis back in 1968 when I quit to focus on REAL cars!). So 1/24 is out. Even the HO magnet cars go way too fast to be fun to race. I'll try all the different types, and see what's best. Perhaps a magnet car, but without magnets, at a reduced voltage?
