- Hi guys! Here I review and run the ZD Racing 10423 1/10 RTR Off-road Truck from GearBest.com. This thing was soooo fun to drive at my local pump track, but did have a few issues. I'm definitely going to keep it in my rc car fleet with a few mods and upgrades.

PROS:
- tracks really well, corners nicely, jumps high
- good dampening (oil filled shocks)
- great value
- cool design
- good speed
CONS
- Radio/receiver kept cutting out. Had to install a new one and use my nicer radio.
- body broke/cracked open after one flip over
- Spur gear stripped out after the second run (likely due to body flex or misaligned pinion gear?). I'm going to buy a metal one!

Thanks Grrr-l....I wish they would have two versions....one basic...one totally metal upgrades. Hate waiting a month for parts, but really into the bigger trucks for winter. Rc vehicles are taking over my guitar space! Lol. I've gone from Gibson and Marshall, to Gearbest and Amazon in two seasons! Quite the pleasant addiction though.

omg! I love this car! Do you think it is a good long-term purchase? Will it resist light bashing at 2s? How resistant are the differentials and gears after about 15 sessions of use?

I prefer RC speedboats, but the racing game "The Crew 2" made me look a little bit into racing trucks :D looks fun enough. Do you think the beautyful Jamara Ice Tiger or the ZD Racing 9106S are better? The Jamara is extremely powerful with a 600 brushless and it`s waterproof but the suspension looks too stiff, and the 9106 has supersoft dampening preventing the car from uncontrollable jumping around or landing on the roof every minute (what happens with cheap overstiff suspensions) and provides smoooooth gliding and perfect steering no matter how hard the terrain is.
It jumps really nice. I bought a body on eBay and didn’t realize it was pvc. They are very brittle as compared to lexan But I bet PVC is cheaper for these companies to buy to keep the price down
These truggies are crap. Chassis flex like I've never seen. Oil in the shocks that must be more than 90w and suspension that is sluggish. Wheels/tires so out of round that it hops. A screw missing that holds the servo horn on the servo out of the box.
So I removed the sway bars, put 30w in the shocks, after I fixed the out-of-the-box broken shock, and had the suspension finally tuned to where it actually was compliant and not so stiff and bouncy.
Then a small pebble bedded itself into the spur gear and pretty much ruined it. I did surgery to remove it but a couple teeth are rough now.
Then, the radio transmitter or receiver started running both throttle and steering functions through both channels so it steers and accelerates with either control, at the same time. Needs a new radio.
All this in the first battery pack.
I regret the money I spent on this truck.
EDIT: got a new radio set and have actually run 3 battery packs thru it. Considering it is around a $160 RC as of June 2019, with some pretty decent features, it's not that bad once some bugs are worked out. Perhaps a good beginner-intermediate off-road RC.
I put a 2s 7400mah battery and it made it night and day from the stock baby 2s, then drop a 3s in there and it will deff hit closer to 40mph!!!
Are you going to upgrade your ESC and run 3S at some point? I do love the 1/10 scale trucks!!

That looks like the LRP truck. I think Gearbest bought the rights and leftover stock of a few vehicles when LRP went out of business not too long ago. They had some pretty good stuff. The electronics are definitely not LRP though 😀 Great review!
Great video but I have had nothing but bad experiences with gearbest.com if you have any issues with any products good luck getting them to respond had to go to my credit card company and get my money back after 3 weeks of trying to work it out with gearbest I will never shop them again. Also they give decent discounts for good reviews so you can’t trust them.
The extra slots in the transmitter are just to hold extra batteries today..... possibly old version needed 8 batteries running ni-cadmium truck.
Looks really like a cheaper version of LRP Blast S10 TX truggy.
How good are the lower control arms. I love the fact that they aren’t cut out. Pretty tough looking truck. Good info. Great video!

Nice review! The ZD products are good for the money though they often have diff issues. The original ZD controller like you got it quite nice especially compared to the newer ones.

What radio is the radio that you switched to (the fancier one)? Can't seem to see if you have a video review of it.
Quick question....I'm about to buy the same truck..only the monster truck version. Same components inside, so I just wanna know if it lasts...any major probs? This will be my first brushless truck...I'm usually a drone guy, but it's cold and windy in Ontario this winter, so I wanted to bash snowmen! Lol

not much of a basher or track runner myself, just don't have the room for it mostly, but this is an RC Girl show... so I am watching regardless.
Hahah yeah I've definitely headed more in the crawler direction recently, but it was fun to drive fast for a bit! ;)

Nice job on the review RC Girl. I haven't seen much on this car. The A-arms look pretty stout, if the plastic is of good quality, it should be a great basher. Looks fast enough to be fun, and the handling looks pretty decent. I like the look of it. The body reminds me alot of the old T3. I don't like the cab forward stuff, so the old style throwback body is a nice touch. Keep up the good work

I'm glad I found this channel. I thought it was funny when you tossed the truck on the ground, I've never seen that. Couldn't do that with my 82' Sears and Roebuck model.

Although im 13 years old i have a Rc 1/12 Scale Truck And Its Having some problems with the connection of the battery what should i do when this happens?
ItzTNT Get some new connection plugs in EBay or Your local hybbyshop and change them. Or maybe Your ESC is the problem?

What in your opinion makes an rc toy grade? This one for sure is an actual hobby grade truck.

#125 The hardcase lipo is it removable? Or wold.tou have to charge it in the rig itself?? Nice unboxing. It really took off,when it was moving I couldn't help to notice the similar look of the Traxxas Rustler,✌
Yeah the lipo it comes with is removable from the car. For some reason the website says "built-in" lipo, but you can definitely take it out. The charging leads detach from the battery as well.

When you dropped it to the ground in the beginning then gave it throttle,I noticed right off there was a hesitation. For the price of the car though it was impressive! For the budget person this looks like a winner of a stadium truck with a couple mods such as you did to make it pretty close to the higher price ones! Nice Video!!
Oh that was just me testing the throttle, but yeah, it was cutting out. Didn't get any of that on video though. New receiver solved that issue!

Yes it`s indeed really nice to see RC-cars that beginners can afford. When I was young, EVERY SINGLE RC-MODEL cost 700-1500€ (of course without sender without receiver without this without that sometimes without engine and without battery pack, include everything needed and the price is doubled.....). Absolutely impossible to buy. Now good and quality and superfast 1:10 RC-models cost 30 bucks used and 100 brandnew, RC and battery included. :D

Gearbest has a lot of stuff but you'll be waiting 2 months for them just to start the shipping.
I just ordered a metal spur gear and it shipped a day later. Maybe it's different for different "departments," but thus far I've had a decent experience with them.

It's a good car for sure. I did end up disassembling the front and rear diffs and filling them up with 15k diff oil. Also suggest upgrading to a metal spur gear ($8). Body needs to be reinforced, or just a new body alltogether. But those are just part of being an rc car owner!
