- What Happens If You Try and Copy British Money ? ? ?
So in today's educational video we decided to do something interesting. We wondered if it was possible to photocopy money. You will see by the video we use £5, £10 and £20 notes and scan them all to a word document before attempting to print them out. Obviously trying to use photocopied money in the UK is highly illegal so don't try it at home.
The printer wouldn't print the fake cash and after research we realised it was due to the security donuts printed on each note. They say the distance and pattern of the security donuts stops the money from being duplicated. This is also true when the copier and the PC is disconnected from the internet. The PC and copier are also linked with USB cable.
You might be wondering how the printer knows. Well this is a closely guarded secret by many companies in an obvious effort to deter counterfeiters.

Usually, most notes will have a built in security effect, when the light of a photocopier is shone on it, it'll have vertical lines up and down the note, rendering it useless
Some brands scanner will not even scan a note with Omron rings. No good if you want to scan one to put on eBay. Thankfully , like yours, my HP does.
I genuinely thought it was a problem with my printer at first. There must be some hidden code of conduct somewhere for mainstream printer manufacturers to have this technology in their printers.
Security doughnuts 😂 😂
well they kind of are. It was either that or 'cheerios' 😂
The scheme falls apart when you realise that British money is plastic and copies are on paper
true, which is why I now copy money onto supermarket bags............................
@@AniCodYT that's pretty good for the environment
@@AniCodYT how??
If he makes counterfeit money that's valid he's going to get ddosd by HP
You can only succesfully print these (illegally ) if you change the location of the"donuts" in the constellation pattern in something like photoshop. Or, if you copy the exact pattern of that constilation to a plain background (so a blank background and dots/circles in the exact constellation pattern ) then attempt to print it it will NOT print. Its the pattern that stops it. The counterfeiters get around this by scanning the note, and cut and paste half the donuts in the pattern away and save it 8n a seperate file, print the note off, then print the second file on top of the first to complete the constellation pattern again, so that it has the full pattern on it. I would advise against doing this however, as it may result in you spending your days in a wee, stoney jail cell with nothing to keep you warm, except for a hot boaby, right up your arse!
I subbed coz I like ur personality my guy
is it because you know i can copy money now? XD
Something quite interesting about the security doughnuts is just how many currencies use them around the world, from the U.K. to the USA and beyond - most use a pattern referred to as the EURion Constellation, though other patterns do show up from time to time.
And all of them are blocked on branded printers. Someone made a lot of money from that idea
I also know that adobe photoshop will give you an error message when you try editing a bank note
Big companies can design computer chips which can store currency note specifications where it can detect the pixels used in the scan & triggers the kill feature if it detects a note being printed. However, there is a way round this but you would have to "softmod" the printer, meaning custom firmware & software so you can hack into the printers chips & change it so it will print out instead of triggering the kill switch.
Please don't ask me where you can get custom firmware!
What would happen if I developed my own printer that bypassed the notes security?
It would print... Just don't get caught ;-)
You would need to get polymer to print on and also money ink is always wet so when you rub it on a piece 9f paper the paper gets dyed a little
All printers which comes with scanner doesn't print money
You need to use laser printer without scanner
And you will be able to print on polymer or paper 👌👌👌
Reprogramming the firmware would do it. It'd take some time and effort but it is do-able. It's similar to anything that is coded. I'm no genius and nor do I condone it, but it's easily possible.
What program do you use to print it
The circles are called Omron rings
i just had to google it. it turns out i was almost spot on with the rest of it 😂
I had an idea that something was gonna prevent you from photocopying our UK money, because it is known that English or British Bank notes are one of, if not the hardest currency to counterfeit or even just simply copy on a copier, although I had no idea that those little ⭕ on each note was a security feature, we learn something new every day, if people take the time to take in the data the information that they've learnt that minute, hour or day.
Funny enough, I was thinking it was just gonna come out with deep black rectangules.
How do movie prop companies print them then?
I know they must get license and permission to sell prop movie money, with rules to show it's not real, with things like this note had no monetary value and is not legal tender, plus no holographic pics or see through windows.
Surely if you edited the image that you scanned it would print. Just take out the omron rings pattern youd probably only need to rearrange them or delete some.
It works if you get rid of them altogether. if you keep just one or 2 they stop from printing
@@AniCodYT What happens if you change them into Goatse rings?
But what that be counterfeit money and would you get like the police called or can it be counted as money that you can spend
What office suite are you using? It looks like google docs
Thats exactly what it is. I love the auto save after every letter feature lol
@@AniCodYT then why did you say that the pc was disconnected from the internet? Lol
@@davr1 you can use docs offline, it saves locally until you connect to the internet again. I was a little paranoid that the images would get sent to some police server somewhere and the SAS would burst through my window haha i thought it would be best to disconnect!
Do you reckon a high quality photo copier and printer from China would be able to copy and print without any security issues?
yes i do. i doubt any printer from there would have the technology to recognise notes..
@@AniCodYT I had a similar thought too with it being coming straight from China to my door I would expect if they did have anything security wise it would be more likely their country’s currency
Software is in newer printer. So it an older printer would lack capabilities to block priming for artistic purposes of course.
Is this Devvo trying to make counterfit money? xD
everyone says i sound like devvo XD
Blot out the doughnuts, then add them later as an additional print run.
i know there is a reason for this but i just want to print out an old tenner to draw it better, i have 50 notes to proof that i am not trying to spend notes i drawed with and also it worked with a 500 Franc note worth more than £50 so why?😂
haha, they make it no fun!
If I remove the security doughnuts would it print?
yes. I wouldn't do it though. this video is educational only. Printing money will land you in hot water
There’s a secret invisible ink because if you print it, it will not show.
Wont copy or print cause the printers have firmware and software built in hardware to recognise when someone trys to copy the notes it stops the scan process and wont allow to be printed on most printer copiers :)
yep, the printing companies must have some sort of agreement with the British mint :-)
@@AniCodYT yeah and the bank of england
Just copy the parts without the circles, the add them back in in a different order 🤷♂️
Use an old printer before the new £5 and also one with out WiFi and updates
I'll take you word for this one :-)
Lol.😂
Me thinking this guy's gonna be billionaire. Lol
not quite haha... all i got was put on a HP watch list for trying to copy money
@@AniCodYT wait really??
It worked on my printer
oh snap... dont get caught haha
Nice
hi for fun or a prank but please don't try to spend it if you got caught your screwed it's an immediate jail sentence even just trying to spend it in the store it's shoplifting because your using the fake note to get free goods not worth the risk stay safe it's no joke once your caught xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@@lou4tea I'm too scared to buy anything 😭😭😭
@@abdul9268 me 2 I'd be scared incase I got caught by the security lol xxxxxxxxxxx
Cover up the yellow dots, that should fix it
Cover the security donuts then, we will see if that has any truth.... or scan half a note or quarter note and see if it prints..... Simple test to do, i don't know why people do silly tests.... I would but i don't have a printer....
2 said scan and 2 said colors print asuot video plz
Mmmmmmm doughnuts. 😋🍩
FBI HAS ENTERED THE CHAT.
AniCod goes into hiding
I want to try just to see what happens , Just make sure to tear up the evidence.
older printers work best apparently
Mental security features in electronic devices..Nice try though lol
I wonder, if you popped the image in a photo editor, and "Altered" the bill in any way, would it still print? I'd like to see some kind of edit saying "Get a job, you nonce" printed on the bill, and in big off colored lettering!
I know a way to copy it though
so its safe to say you're a millionaire then lol
Kinda lol. But i have dutch money
@@TJ-ph4hc i had to google dutch money lol its very colourful haha
Lol
@@TJ-ph4hc can’t you just use monopoly then?
First
ur voice is cute
Well im sat here blushing now :-)
@@AniCodYT 😌
Sood
thanks :-)
Mine prints money what a load of shit
This is pointless British money is plastic now so if you photo copy it it would be paper
Not if u photocopy it onto a sheet of plastic, I remember photocopies of pictures for the projector in school

Money is created by an Instrument known as a Promissory Note.... when you go to a Bank or a Loan Company, you fill out there Legal Document... this is a Promissory Note... known as a Legal Instrument, Financial Paper, or Commercial Paper, Legal Tender, a Bank Not cannot exist unless someone has created this Note by the Promissory Note... and Banks Cannot Create any Cash without your Authorisation and Consent... as soon as you sign that document, you created the Cash... there and then, it then get sent to the Treasury Dep, they then tell the Capital Bank of England to Print out the sum of Cash... so all Loans, Mortgages and all types of Financial Loans are all Fraudulent... all 100% Facts...
