Wham bham thank you Noddy. I saw Slade live at many locations during the 70s. From Earls Court, Rainbow theatre to a club in Watford . Every performance was amazing.
Brilliant interview I've loved Noddy and Slade since the early 70's and seen them live twice, I even have a signed photo from Noddy. what a guy and a true gent.
Slade was the first band I got into. At the age of seven in 1971 I heard Mamma were all crazy now on the radio and was captivated by it. Then when they appeared on Top Of The Pops, my little mind was in awe! Noddy became my idol! I spent my pocket money on all their singles and asked for albums for birthday and Christmas presents. When they released "Till Deaf Do Us Part" in the eighties I was obviously a lot older but still loved them, ( along with Rush and Rainbow etc). I had the privilege of seeing them at a venue in Durham promoting that album, much to the envy of my mates, They were Awesome! I salute you Mr Holder! Thanks for the memory.
Приятно видеть здравствующего Noddy Holter, великолепный вокал, подача группы Slade, в 70-ые годы, просто восхищался ими, наряду с Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Sweet и др. Спасибо Noddy.
Noddy is natural and thoughtful, a true talent. He's right there are many truly gifted singer/songwriters today just look on UA-cam. The mainstream is contrived and controlled as always. there are so many outlets for artists
Slade was the best band 70-80 ever. If you haven't seen them you have not lived. Slade love them to the day I die. Thanks guys for making my live so much happier Good health to you all. Andy wood. Still get goose bumps when I play you. ..
What a lovely guy and a gentleman. Sir Noddy of Holder should be prime minister. Great voice too. He's probably the only man who could fit AC/DC after Brian.
I saw Slade twice! First time they were supported by (and blown away by) The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The second time was in Dundee Caird Hall, Slade were a first class live band! Noddy is a front man without a superior. Plant, Gillan, Coverdale, Marriott, whoever you love, if you hear Noddy you know right away that it's him!
No one is superior to the great Steve Marriott. Songwriter, musician, frontman and especially singer, extraordinaire. No one has ever come close, and probably never will.
Noddy is a great musician. He is a great showman and entertainer. I went to almost every show when the boys came to town. St Louis Missouri USA. Slade had many American fans, we were just as pissed that they didn't get the radio play. God bless Noddy, Jim, Don and Dave.
Slade genau wie Sweet haben mich durch meine Jugend begleitet. Die Stimmen unvergessen.Noddy genau wie Brian herrlich hören wir heute genau noch so wie damals .
From my home town Walsall. Saw them loads at local venues. Walsall town hall, Francis Martyn youth club, The George Hotel Walsall. Great days. Gave him the Freeman of the town, well deserved. It's in UA-cam. Just type Noddy Holder Gets Freeman of the Borough. The poem at the end of it is brilliant.
Ginny Ginny is Far Far away. She sings Ooh la la in L.A with Little Sheila. They sing and shout. Thanks for the memories and the soundtrack to my youth!!🙌🙌
By watching this interview you can see that Noddy Holder is true legend he says writing your own songs is the way to go.When asked about Merry Xmas Everybody he did not say how much him and Jim Lea make each year its a lot
haha, she asked how the song "merry xmas" still influences his life today..... well he makes over half a million dollars (literally) every year in royalties from it, so i'd say it has quite a significant influence!!! Imagine making $10,000 + per week for the rest of your life from one song!!
@Wideye - not exactly. It just needs to be a song that gets massive sales and airplay. There are plenty of great songs that earn no money. There are plenty of crap songs that have earned fortunes. But most songs that earn fortunes are not like pensions, they earn a lot for a short time, and then very little on an ongoing basis. The reason this song earns so much money every year is because it has been adopted as a christmas anthem so it has a revival of sales and airplay every year.
what great guy love his music in the 70's when i was kid of 5-6 years old, but now the music sounds even better in the 2018 because the music is different less soul now when belts out where all crazy now ,you believed him great band miss what they could have created in the last few decades.
Get a group of friends together and start talking about classic rock - ask them to name a song from each band you mention, it usually goes like as such; Led Zeppelin? Stairway!! KISS? Rock and Roll all nite, party every day!!! Black Sabbath? Iron man!! Slade?.............who? It's sad but true that a band who had numerous number one or at least top 10 hits most people don't know or remember. They're 1983 hit - "c'mon feel the noize" - Then the next year their 1984 hit - "Mama weer all crazee now" - now if you know anything about the 80's and Slade you will know that I was wrong about the years of those songs! However, it was when Quiet Riot put those songs out and they became hits that Slade really got the attention they deserved, sadly though it was Quiet Riot that got the attention, money and fame. A lot of people say they never heard of Slade, myself being one, yet their influence can still be seen today in some of the biggest bands in the world. pop quiz - who can tell me the biggest Slade influence in Rock and Roll that is being seen world wide in 2018? Answer: Guns and Roses! Besides his guitar playing what is one thing associated with Slash? His wearing that big top hat during concerts of course!! Who influenced Slash, meaning where did he get the idea to do that? Dave Hill of course, say that name to most people and they have no clue who he is, mention the guitarist who wears a top hat while on stage and people will yell out "Slash!!" - but Slash got the idea from Dave Hill who was known for his weird onstage outfits. In the 1970's who was the number one band in the UK? Based on the amount of singles sold, Slade outsold even the mighty Led Zeppelin! You have to think about that folks - the 1970's, the number one band in the UK was a band that today most people don't even know about. Their competition? Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath just to mention a couple!! Slade didn't hit it big in the USA until the early 1980's and that was completely owed to Quiet Riot using their songs. Some times the music industry can be so unfair!!
@@rogergough447 No, it was the lead guitarist who first wore it, the lead singer would wear one on occasion as well, but it was the lead guitarist who began wearing it first.
On a recent documentary Noddy described buying the hat he wore off Freddy Mercury’s market stall. His was not a top hat but a taller one , which I can’t remember the correct name for, which he then put mirrors on and wore it on numerous performances.
Great interview, but the camerawork. I'm of the discipline of not having the subjects in a conversation in the middle of their respective shots. I was taught to have the subject slightly off center with space in the direction of their dialogue.
3:11 Noddy speaks as if musicians are always innovating. His own band were stuck in a rut from start to finish. And bombing each time they were about to make it big outside of the UK and few other places.
Noddy - a true legend and a gentleman! One of the best frontmen ever. I miss the mighty SLADE!
thats bangon slade should reunite.
Absolutely spot on. A true gentleman!
One of the most unique voice in Rock - the great Noddy Holder. Wished he would do a reunion of Slade again before one of the member pass on.
this guy was my hero from the age of 11,and 41 yrs on he still is. a true wise sage. "thanks for the memories" noddy
Wham bham thank you Noddy. I saw Slade live at many locations during the 70s. From Earls Court, Rainbow theatre to a club in Watford . Every performance was amazing.
He was one of my favorites. Love that voice!! Keep on rockin!
Noddy Holder embodies pure optimism and positive energy, just like the songs of Slade. Happiness is in his DNA.
And such a great interview.
Now we are talking a TRUE star! Noddy is the greatest frontman EVER! Aand a genuine nice guy!
I met Noddy on several occasions and I was in love. He was awesome.
Watching Slade live is like watching a bomb go off... utterly awesome. Noddy seems so genuine, a real ordinary but extraordinary man
Noddy is one of an elite class of entertainer - crazy, classy, and quite intelligent all at once.
Noddy gave it his all and he’s truly admired for it he’s also a genuine man. Great band.
Very good interview. And Noddy Holder, what an interesting man. Always liked Slade, good happy music to stomp to. 👍
Brilliant interview I've loved Noddy and Slade since the early 70's and seen them live twice, I even have a signed photo from Noddy. what a guy and a true gent.
Man noddys a class act certainly deserves more ! It sure would be nice to see him and rest of Slade get inducted in rock and roll Hall of Fame.
she's a great interviewer easy going and let the quest speak out freely, great!
Thanks for all the memories Noddy. You are the greatest.

Noddy shines again at least partially thanks to very good interviewer. Really nice to hear both questions and answers.

Thank you Sir Noddy, it's all about the music and the lyrics, let the good stuff rise to the surface
!970 century was propably the best to make pop//rock music....I still live for Sweet, Slade, Bowie, Deep Purple etc etc...their music never dies

It is such a shame that SLADE never really made it big in Canada or the U.S. a lot of the bands we grew up on cited SLADE as a huge influence.

I can't sing a note but when I here noddy then I've got to sing even if I sound like a strangled cat
