I enjoyed listening and watching your pattern process. Like you, when I look at someone else’s pattern, I try to isolate the repeat. Sometimes it’s a real challenge, but I think it helps me understand what makes a pattern just look & feel good. Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed watching this video, and your designs are absolutely beautiful. I have a question about sRGB/CMYK colour spaces. I'll be printing my designs both on fabric and on paper, so I need to use colours that converge in both the sRGB and CMYK colour modes. I find this a bit daunting as there isn't that much of an overlap and if I pick the wrong colours, my paper-printed designs will suffer. So, if I create my own colour palette from photos as you've shown, picking colours with the settings in CMYK mode, is it likely that the resulting colours will be ones that co-exist in the sRGB space? Or would I need to find some sort of reference source that lists CMYK and sRGB equivalents, and then tweak all the colours to something that works in both spaces?

    Hi Kelsey,
Thank you for doing these videos, they have been super helpful! I am JUST starting and am trying to figure everything out. Can I ask you how you got your hand-drawn doodles onto the ipad like that? I know, it's a basic question but I'm starting out from scratch. Also, since I don' have an ipad, is there a way to do the same process but maybe use my iphone to transfer onto my Mac?Thank you!!

      Hey Angela
Before I had an iPad I would go near a window or outside and take a photo with my phone. I would open it in photoshop and remove the background (it’s pretty time consuming but needed) I would then save each doodle as a png with a transparent background and then open them in to illustrator for vectorizing. Now with an iPad I normally either redraw while looking at the doodles or take a photo and trace over if I want it exactly how I drew it.
Hope that helps. Sorry it’s so long 😅

You mentioned you're going to put your pattern collection on sell sheets. Do you have a video showing how to do that?

I don’t yet but I can describe it. Mine is one page per colorway. The top has the name of the collection. Middle of the page is all of the patterns with the hero being the larges and blenders the smallest. At the bottom is my contact information like website and social media handle
