@@fishingking1346 What Seattle is doing is resolving thier shortcoming in retirement fundings. If you drive off officers, your overall liabilities disapate. If you do it for enough years you eventually save billions in retirements you dont have. Also, if you drive people away you can buy whatever you want for dirt cheap, then change the laws in your favor to start policing again.

@@dontgiveinfo I think drift318 is referring to the stretch of city blocks in Seattle that protesters occupied last summer. They forced the police out of the precinct and basically took control of that area but violence and intimidation ensued. Still, the mayor suggested it was the "summer of love". Eventually she shut it down but not until protesters came to her doorstep.

@@heroclix0rz This assumption that cops abuse their power is based on a few isolated incidents that are blown way out of proportion so that the media can perpetuate a certain narrative. Last year there were I believe seven or so police incidents that caught media's attention and were nationally covered. Considering there are millions of interactions every year between police and civilians that isn't too bad. Just because you watch the news and believe there is a problem doesn't mean there is actually a problem.

She actually tried. I watched a few of the Council meetings well before the protests. Seattle started losing officers WAY before last year. She would try to tell them why it was happening and they'd ignore her, usually changing the subject mid-thought. It was actually cringe-worthy.

I love the phrase "could have been my son, or my daughter" in dealing with the police. If your son is a drug addict or out committing crimes that warrant police action then you have failed as a parent.
Seattle has confused “lawfulness”, with “lawlessness”. This seems to be happening in many cities and states where one particular political party has been in control for decades. It’s a great lesson in “be careful what you wish for”.

The problem I'm seeing is those of us left don't feel like we can leave. As much as motivation has gone down, as high as the chances of our lives being ruined over a single arrest are, we're staying because we became police to help people. Doing so makes getting insurance to start another business very difficult. But you may be right. Perhaps today's generation creates with the sole hope that someone else will destroy so they can collect the cash and move on.

Theft/break-ins not appreciable higher than national average. Most if not all of my product I will sell to customers on expected timelines. Or 2.) City B - Currently unstable, local government WANTS less law enforcement and is encouraging anarchy. There is a much higher change of theft. So i will rely on higher insurance premiums, filing claims, and waiting on reimbursements for stolen product. Not to mention less customers because of area danger...
Yeah...anybody who picks B has a much higher chance of failing in that new business venture. I am going to City A without hesitation. And in my opinion most reasonable people would do the same. Therefore as Seattle continues to decay, we can say for sure the local progressive government will eventually answer for it.
