We stayed at Skukuza, in a chalet a few weeks ago, our first park experience. We didn't notice monkeys so much as the baboons , we watched in disbelief as they took over the swimming pool, whilst people were swimming and generally ransacked the place. Still loved staying there though but obviously camping is a whole different matter.
Oh my, glad we didn't encounter the baboons too ... they a bit scarier since they a lot bigger ... no place to hide from them in a tent 🤣 We were scared enough by the monkeys, but I guess they won't put us off and we'll visit Kruger again (maybe not camp at Skukuza ... 🤣) Kruger's like a drug .... once you've had a 'hit' you'll always be back for more .... 😂😍
Oh wow what an experience. Monkeys can be so vicious and unpredictable, which makes me afraid of them. I suppose they are wild and we are invading their territory. Not sure how they are going to deal with the problem, because even if they are relocated they will find their way back again. They probably gravitate towards the camps as it's safe from predators and of course there is our food, which are easy pickings. Enjoyed your adventure with you, but glad I didn't have to experience the monkey attack. Oh also loved the fact you gave the ellies a lot of room and didn't get too close. Stay safe.
Oh dear, yes, the monkeys really got us ..... but at least all ended well. They really are a problem but the staff also did say that they've gotten bolder because of people feeding them in camp ... apparently they even rip the mesh of tents and pop-up roof caravans to get at an easy meal ... so I guess it's more of a human problem than a monkey one they sit with. Sadly folks see them as 'so cute' and give a treat here and there, but then they begin to get aggressive and then they not so cute anymore ... Anyway, despite the monkeys, Kruger is still an awesome place and the ellies made up for the monkey incident, but we do have a healthy respect for them and keep well clear ... admire from a distance is our motto 😄
