Probably 150 ISH hours of work condensed into two and a half hours! I'm very glad to have this thing back home with me ❤ hoping to have it finished before Christmas 🎁
Ben. Congrats on getting it back! You started this episode more seriously than usual. Shows how much it means to you and we’re all totally behind you mate. Top stuff
Hello from Virginia in the USA. Love your channel and absolutely love those simple Japanese vans. Can't wait to see the finished product. You are a great personality on youtube. Some people are just born to tell the stories of their cars and you are spot on with your charisma and folksiness. Keep up the great work and save that van!
I never want these videos to end. You have done a wonderful job getting this van back in shape. The HAS BOOK number plate might be worth something too!
Only a very tiny donation I know, just wanted you to know I love the content. The effort you put into your videos and the way you come across. Top lad 🙌🏻 keep up the good work fella!
Just gave me a weird memory flashback. I was driving in our firms Rascal with a young lad as passenger, who gleefully shouted ''that was Dizzie Rascal'' As he pointed out the window... We were in Chiswick in 2003? I'd never heard of Dizzie Rascal... But it obviously stuck in my mind... Your wife is obviously more up to date than me. (Is she an 80s girl like the lad?)
Surely I can't be the ONLY person who has ALWAYS wanted one of these? My late Grandfather has one as a milkfloat for years, and these rascal vans will always have a place in my heart. I've got a photo of him stood proudly next to it on my desk. He kept it immaculate.
I’m SO happy to see this old van back! I’ve very fond memories of the 1986 one that was the last vehicle my grandfather bought. Looking forward to seeing it in all its glory ❤️
Another great one. Really nice to see this Twinkie getting a needed redo. From earlier vids - I thought this van was done for. You have become my favorite car rescue channel. And I watch a few. Glad you tube is working out for you
Ben what’s an amazing job you’ve done with restoring that little van I’m glad to see you put your safety squints to one side and now you’re using a proper safety visor to protect your eyes from the sparks! Great video can’t wait to see the finished product!
Another faultless video Ben and if I’m honest it’s one of the best to date and I’ve literally sat glued, I haven’t left the seat till just now. Can’t wait to see what you have in store next.
My dad watches all the car shows on TV but ive never got him into UA-cam content until now. He is hooked on your videos and it reminds him of tinkering with cars or getting your mate to weld a bit or paint a bit back in the day !
Ben,I would just like to say that I came across the original videos on this a couple of years ago whilst off work recovering from bowl cancer,I didn't realise at the time it was your first ones and I really enjoyed them, and have watched and enjoyed your videos ever since,I think it's brilliant that you are fully restoring this little van and it's great that it's going to advertise and help your channel, onwards and upwards, best wishes Tim.
What a lovely surprise! Currently on holiday in Marrakesh, ironically there is sooo many Bedford rascals here. You'd be amazed how much they can carry.

This van was the first video of yours I ever watched, I’m tearing up 😢
I'll be honest I couldn't tell you the difference between a good weld and a bad weld often. Lovely to see so much love going in to something that was a staple of my childhood.
Good to see the TastyRascal back, used to drive one for a wee builders I worked for in the early 90s Always thought it was going to fall over going round corners
I have recently bought a 1997 Suzuki Carry 970cc which seems pretty much identical to your Rascal. Unsurprisingly mine needs some work too. I am a novice enthusiast and am completely new to these vehicles so these type of videos are so valuable to me. Thank you 👍
Hi Ben , hope your and your mum is doing well , just a little tip for you , when you were welding next to the eye link - towing hook , that space you were trying to fill , if you used a metal coat hanger and weld it into the crack bit you want to weld , really dus make it easier to fill in bits like that , great video again , can’t wait to see you finish this , going to be a cool little van for you to run about in , love from Scotland ❤️🏴
Thankyou for the 150 hours of work to get this van going 🙂 I messaged you on patreon to no avail. i do know your a busy guy though. 🙂 keep up the great work because we love it
Welcome home you little Rascal. Ben, looking forward to the next several videos because I fell for this van when the video originally came out. Was gutted to have seen it go. Now, over the moon at the return of The Little Rascal! Just brilliant! 👍😁
You've showed lots of great skills in this episode but above anything else, you showed that you are a loyal man. That's hard to come by nowadays!! Your enthusiam and gratitude on sticking to this old tired, small, seemingly unworthy van is the mark of a hero. And we all love heros, don't we? THAT is what got you the following, you impersonated the hero of the lost cause, and did it with faith and genuine trust. Looking forward to much more content from you mate, here's a toast to your further succes - on my new Tasty Classics mug 😀
Ben, I'm certain I was subscribed back when you launched the first Rascal video. I was always gutted you weren't able to resurrect this amazing little machine so it's great to see it back on the channel. Your channel has certainly grown a lot in that time. 75k subscribers is quite an achievement! I may be responsible for some of those as I've pointed quite a few people towards your channel now.
In the good old days I delivered yellow pages to houses around heckmondwike. And I used my rascal to carry them. All 846 of them. I also towed a 2 berth caravan with it! It looked a bit like le shuttle from the front!!
This is a serious labour of love and equally impressive to condense this much work into 2.5h of footage. I started following way after this project so I'm thankful to be here for its return. You are Britain's answer to Vice Grip Garage and I love it. P.s. those wheels came out superb!
Fantastic idea, I watched the first episode of the Rascal last night so very happy to see it back so soon (for me) you just gained a subscriber and I am looking forward to seeing this little rust bucket restored.
In the 90s The Pizza shop in Merthyr Tydfil used one of these vans to deliver pizzas, it was really nippy, fast and you could hit the brakes hard and the rear wheels would lift off the ground.😀
Ben the secret to your success is not the bedford or even the allagro its you. Your probably the funniest fella on telly. Keep it up m8. All the best. Martin
A brilliant episode. I love the fact that you (Ben) have chosen the rascal to restore for emotional as well as practical reasons. And what a task. Superb!!!
Two years already? Wow! I remember dozing off watching another channel and woke up with this one playing back in late 2022 and have been watching ever since! Probably the only time the UA-cam algorithm got it spot on! Now you're one of my favourite channels. Glad to see this OG Rascal back! :)
Good to see the little Rascall is back! Hopefully it will do well for the channel again so you can buy a project that doesn't need to be swept into the workshop with a brush! I always talk to my cars, it feels like they respond to being treated nicely. They always end up with a name too. I think with it's reg the little van should be known as the captain!
I'm pretty sure this van will f you can call it that was what first popped up on my UA-cam and bought me to your channel. Thank god because I absolutely love the videos and the down to earth qualities you have make the videos very entertaining. I don't think any other channel can keep me in one video for over an hour. Keep it up Ben and thanks.
I had the Bedford Rascal myself a few years ago in a blue colour but unfortunately after the head gasket been blown , ino longer had the funds to sort it out. But seeing this one,its awesome. Love it . Thank you for buying it back and bringing it back to life!
Can't believe that it was so long ago that I first watched you do the first phase of this little van - watched every video you've posted since. Fantastic work Ben - please keep up the great work and thanks for all the entertaining content.
The Xmas advert was hilarious particularly the Geordie boy with his sticker book. A big part of why I enjoy your channel is your humour. If you can think of little comedy sketches to do it between the car work I think it would be awesome!!
What better way to spend a foggy Saturday morning than to watch Ben breathe new life into a treasured but sad van. Absolutely brilliant and such a joy to watch. Terrific progress and the omens are good for a quality transformation from bottom to top. Many thanks for these vids. Epic watching.
Awesome mate, the first van i ever owned was a Suzuki Rascal. Absolute rock of a van never let me down once. It got stolen outside of the house and never seen again..gutted beyond belief.
Love seeing the Tasty Rascal back and getting the treatment you wanted to give her first time around. Looking amazing so far - it’s gunna look mint when you’ve sorted the rest of the bodywork and done the cargo area!
Watched the first episode and thought then you should have kept it. I had pleasure of using one of these daily for deliveries of stationery. The two side doors made life easier for deliveries. Good luck with the restoration will be following the episode.
You sir ! You deserve an acolade. The underneath is absolutley fantasic. Better than when it came out of the factory . I see a good five years there (At least)
Almost brought a tear to the old eyes seeing this coming back to you. I subscribed after watching the Ambassador revival and seein this right after it. I have been hooked ever since. Amazing work bringing the old rascal back to life.
This video was more serious than any other video I’ve watched from you. Think I understand why though, it’s a special van for you and also it’s cost a fair amount to buy it back and you want to make a good job of it. That’s not criticism though, I enjoyed all 2.5 hours. Just wanted to say, I have a brand new welder that’s been sat in the box for a year, watching your videos and then your tip of welding a scrap panel until you’ve got the hang of it has motivated me to get it out and practice. So thanks for that Ben and for the effort you put into these videos for us. Your humility and authenticity make you a great guy to watch and support.
I really can’t believe the difference between the start of the video and the end , the van looks amazing already , just shows what a little hard work can do , well done Ben for saving this little gem of a van ❤️
Absolutely brilliant, really great episode. What a great restoration, so good to see the work you do, and on such a cool little van too! Looking forward to the next episode on this one
I'm so ooooo happy to see this little beast back and being restored I've enjoyed every min watching this well done mate !! Love it buzzing to see this all done and being used fully deserves it 💪
Awesome video! Previous welder.... "yeah I went to the Stevie Wonder School of Welding". Great to see it back with you and really looking forward to the next video.
You done a amazing job on this little van and it's going to look great then it's finished! I can see that you love this van and I hope you can have and use it for many years :)
Brilliant result getting the van back Ben, and great choice on the paint products, looking so good already and like you said it will protect her for the long haul. Welcome welcome to the tasty fleet little Rascal! 😊👍
Absolutely superb episode tonight takes me back to my childhood my aunt had a rascal for her shop we use to laugh at it but what a simple cracking little van. Great work on it so far can't wait till next Friday.
This made me so happy. The original Rascal video was what brought me to the channel, I liked it so much I went and watched all your previous videos and subscribed, when you only had a few hundred subs. So chuffed this van is getting the love it always deserved, time to find the old RSPCA van next?
I love this little van, I didn't appreciate them at the time but as I have become older I do, that van would look great with a nice set of alloys and spot lamps on the front. All the best mate, Keep up the amazing work!
What a belter of an episode Ben. I’ve been with you on this UA-cam journey when you did the Merc, just before the first Rascal episode. It’s a shame the previous owner never did a better job with the “restoration” but it gives you more content for doing a “Revisiting” episodes. Really can’t wait for the next few episodes on this little Rascal. Maybe put a pop out window and use as a serving hatch for your car shows. Hand out swag, merch and some Tasty Coffee. Keep up the good work mate.
I was gutted when you sold her & am now absolutely delighted to see her back in the fleet! It could be the ultimate P & P vehicle, Promotional & Practical! Just think of all the spares she'll be able to carry & she'll look great doing it! Can't wait to see her come back to life! 👍😉
So glad you got it back I really wanted to see that restored. I have loads of childhood memories from being in my dads friends rascal van and I love them so looking forward to seeing the progress and finished restoration 👍
Wow I thought you would never get this van looking like it does now. You have put a lot of hard work into it Ben. Great work. Looking forward to the next chapter. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just subscribed because of this little van as my late dad had one brand new when they came out in 1986 (C- reg) from W Grose Vauxhall in Northampton. I still have photos of it and it was so different at the time. I remember just before the launch it was featured on Top gear and my dad went straight off and traded his astra MK1 van in for the Bedford Rascal. It's great to see one that's survived and hopefully you'll keep it as original as you can. I think a new set of number plates would brighten it up too. Looking forward to seeing part two. 👍
I was hoping this van got some love. I, too, had a F reg Bedford Rascal. Bright red with nudge bar and front spots. It was the start of our courier business. Unfortunately grandad had it go to sleep on a roundabout in Aberdeen in 1995. Loved it. Love this channel, well done big fella.❤
Top stuff

This little van introduced me to Tasty Classics when the vid came out, loved it ever since.
Same here, this little Rascal got me subscribed to tasty classics 😁
Hello from Virginia in the USA. Love your channel and absolutely love those simple Japanese vans. Can't wait to see the finished product. You are a great personality on youtube. He is amazing. I hope he knows it. A wonderful character. PS Hope the next 4 years go well for you! 😁 (And the rest of us).
How about some tyres a bit wider?🤔🤔🇬🇧🇬🇧
This is so damn cool, what an ace little van. Here's my contribution to the paint fund!
Keep up the great work - I loved this one, a very unloved van getting the TLC it deserves.
Thank you mate that is too kind! I won't drink it up the wall I promise 😅🙏🏼

Nice ! How many of us regret getting rid of a vehicle and regretting it. Great that you were able to get it back :)

did anyone ever manage it? I managed to get them to stand on the nose but never roll 😘
We old guy I worked with put it on its side joining the A82 at the Renton slip road😂 no one hurt only his pride
my old dad was a painter & decorator & used a rascal for many years, happy memories seeing yours Ben, i look forward to watching the series !

Amazing work. Glad to see it having a second chance. My first van was a Bedford Rascal. We called it the sooty van.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
So pleased to see it back! It will look amazing done up with tasty classic graphics.

Looks great! Fantastic progress and a nice little project. Got to love a Rascal!
Wonderful video Ben, this is honestly the last thing I expected the secret project to be, but I'm so glad its what it is!
Amazing to see this thing back 🙌 😮 can't believe the amount of work you've done to it hell of a job wow
I really can’t believe the difference between the start of the video and the end , the van looks amazing already , just shows what a little hard work can do , well done Ben for saving this little gem of a van ❤️

Maybe put a pop out window and use as a serving hatch for your car shows. Hand out swag, merch and some Tasty Coffee.
Keep up the good work mate.
Excellent, I had 2 of these, Had great fun. I recommend electronic ignition get rid of the troublesome points.
This takes me back! My neighbour used to have one of these parked up years ago. They used to be a common sight. Great work and loving the long videos.

Genuinely good to see the van back! Absolutely a worthy vehicle to give a new life and look forward to it.
One hell of a video Ben, great work on the little van, what a difference . Cheers from AUS 🦘🇦🇺
Why not lanoguard the underside and make it look saucy!!!
Loving this return to episode, thanks Ben
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode of the rascally rascal. Was well worth the wait. Can’t wait for the next one. P&J Light Haulage.
Great video as always, Ben.
That music by Northside at around 2 1/2 hours nicks the melody from Motorcycle Emptiness. 😮

Lovely to see a bit of flange on a Friday evening . Nice work Ben 👍🏼
Forget Capri, TT, etc., this is the real star of this channel. Thanks for the entertainment.
