Sad fact - Alex Ross wanted to take over FF but Marvel gave it to Dan Slott instead - the results speak for themselves.
We were definitely robbed
About time. The Fantastic Four were once the flagship title of Marvel Comics that birthed the 616 universe. Paying tribute to the team with top notch art brings joy and much needed promise Marvel respects them again.
This looks cool. We need more like this.
The way Marvel has treated the Fantastic Four since 2015 has had an awkard feeling to it. Almost like breaking up with a girl and still talking to her. Almost this 'hey I know I kicked you to the curb, but we still cool, right?"
My shop was sold out so I had to order it online. Looking forward to checking it out
You're gonna be happy when you get it!
That looks incredible! Purchasing this today.
This is fantastic news. Thanks for the recommendation. I agree, as great as Ross's normal art is, this looks EVEN BETTER. Going to have to check this out.
I'll have to check this out. Thank you. I loved the Marvel Knights FF run. Very family and Sue storm centric. Early 2000s
Wow! I love Alex Ross! I love Fantastic Four! MCU better take this as reference for the movie. I read that old issue of FF about a man who stole Thing's identity but died saving Reed Richard's life. It was wonderful story by Stan and Jack!
The art looks absolutely beautiful in this book! Also nice thumbnail lol 😂
Wes: Go pick it up.
Me waiting for my copy to come in the mail: Come on! Come on!
It's really good!
Gotta pick this up as a birthday present for myself. My favorite comic book characters finally got an original graphic novel 🔥🔥
i have to say it been a while since i felt really excited about purchasing a new graphic novel, this looks so good.
Thank you for the review. I only read Hickman’s run on these characters. It’s really interesting to check out what Alex Ross does to them.
Truly a masterpiece and a refreshing breath of fresh air!! Thanks Wes.......looking forward to getting this beautiful book.
Absolute great Fantastic Four story. If only the monthly title could be shown this type of love
Thank you for the recommendation Wes! Just put this in my Amazon cart and can’t wait to purchase it!
Hope you enjoy it!
I agree! I wish he could do three more! Love the HERBIES putting out the fire. lol
Thank you Wes for bringing attention to this. I've just ordered. Have a great weekend.
This looks cool. We need more like this.
Great video Wes! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Dang Wes!! This is why I watch more of your thumbs down reviews. All your positive reviews cost me money!! I am going to have to pick this up!
my copy is arriving today, so I'm happy to watch this in order to get hyped
I bought one from the man himself, so...
if you follow his stuff, you can see his colourful FF art over the last few years is prolly him working out this style. My gosh, it's fantastic!
Edit: can't wait for the "artist edition"! Also, the first FF comic I've bought since the 90s.
Good stuff. I really liked Alex's work in Kingdom Come and Silver Surfer Requium and I will be getting this Fantastic Four book.
The Fantastic Four deserve this after the way Marvel has treated them. Can't wait to check it out!
I pre-ordered it and when I received it, i read it immediately. it's FANTASTIC!
recommend for someone who has never/barely interacted with any Marvel comics (beyond film) including F4? loved Ross' art in Kingdom Come and this review really sells it to me.
This is crazy! A good marvel book? It is still possible?
Can we all agree that Alex Ross should have his own wing in a possible comic book museum ?
I mean his art is so incredible and life-like that makes you really think why no one hires him to do movie posters or even concpet art for superhero movies.
He could be the Drew Sturzman or John Alvin of our times.
Aside from that I hope that DC will look into his F4 graphic novel and give him an opportunity to do a similar GN with other characters like Batman Superman , Wonder Woman or hell even Justice League for pete's sake.
Also Wes go check out Superman Peace on Earth - it's an incredible graphic novel that is heartbreaking but also very inspiring and it's beautifully written by Paul Dini and drawn by Alex Ross.
Just bought it! Would never have known about it without your video!
I forgot this one. I'll definitely pick it up. Thanks.
Definitely agree & I saw a video recently of Alex talking about Jack Kirby while he was doing an Inking of the Thing. You can Definitely tell he loves and respects the characters. As well as Stan & Jack. Would be nice if they’d hire more people like him instead of trash like vita & he who shall remain nameless. Also good to see you again Wes!
This is one of the best FF comic released to date. I hope Alex Ross does more of this style of art in the future, I absolutely love the visuals!
FF: Full Circle was incredible. I actually got the slipcase edition of this book.
Weil, having a visual disability and having to read with a magnifying glass I'm REALLY looking forward to the softcover. I mean, they'll totally release a version that won't break my magnifying glass, right?... Right?
That's more like it! We need more Superhero comics like this. I hope someone at Marvel and DC takes notes.
You had me at "Alex Ross." 'Nuff said.
Amen my friend! I felt like that ten year old getting FF#23 at the market again! I can't recommend this book enough! Viva Mr Ross!
Just read this. Wow, what a treat to read and a sad reminder of how really good comics used to be compared to now.
Man thanks for the heads up West, this one completely flew underneath my radar. Managed to snag a hardcover copy on Amazon.
This is the way the fantastic four should’ve been done for years.
Thank you Wes!
Well I’m glad it’s good. Unfortunately, I’ve been out for too long.
OMG THIS LOOK SO FREAKING GREAT!!
I see and heard so much love on that.
Alex Ross A GOD IN COMICBOOKS like always.
That does look rather nice, I was thinking of picking this up too, and now I know it's a sequel to classic stuff, including one of the best ever issues, I'm in! One thing though - Ross looks very much like he's based his Reed off of Gary Conway, who starred in Land of the Giants
I can’t wait to grab this!
Wow!!!What wonderful artwork. This book grab my interest.I will pick him up when this arrives here in Brazil.
I ordered the Slipcase edition, and love it.
Damn man I haven’t even started my journey of FF reading but hearing your review and seeing how they are supposed to be, just makes a smile come to my face. I’ll definitely have to put this on the reading list when I get to my FF reading order.
Dam! That level of quilte and effort put everything Marvel has done in the last decade or more to shame. Definitely, be picking this up.
It looks great. I watched his video about working on the book, on his channel. I haven't been interested in much of Marvel's recent offerings. I did read House of X, and Powers of X, but lost interest in the following books. I think I'll pick this up.
Cannot agree more!!! I miss loving a new comic book story this much!
Ross should absolutely be writing FF.....or something for Marvel! Make him Editor in Chief and watch him straighten out the **** that the MU has become!
Hell, he could do it for both major companies!✌🏻😁
Yesterday I saw a youtube video of Alex Ross talking about this book.the work he put into it was amazing.where will you be getting this book from if I can ask? Im based in Quezon city and havent seen it yet on shelves.
It does not surprise me that Alex Ross has once again delivered an awesome book.
This wasn't on my radar at all until this review - I'm really looking forward to it now, can't wait to pick it up! On a related note - I'm not sure what happened to Dan Slott - his work from 15-20 years ago was amazing (Thing, Batman Adventures, Spidey/Torch)
I can't get to the comic shop. I just ordered it.
This is simply put, the best Fantastic Four story since "Fantastic Four: The End" by Alan Davis and Mark Farmer.
Do you consider this story better than the Johnathan Hickmann's run on FF? That one for me, was one of the 5 best runs ever that I have read and I'm not really into Marvel as I am in DC. Did you get the chance to read it?
I like Hickman's FF run. I personally like this better. But their both really good.
I’m so excited to get this
I thought it was The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes in the thumbnail. Lol
ooh awesome
Wait, this is like the DC superman peace on earth comic. I really love that Alex Ross has a brand for his books that looks alike across the board. Come on Wes, Alex Ross makes magic.
It took Ross 7 months to illustrate it, relatively fast considering he was also doing 3 or 4 painted covers a month.
Full Circle is the only comic I've ever just stopped reading on a pirate site a few pages in and ordered the physical version. It's a work of art in every sense and the fact that Marvel did sing its praises from the mountain tops shows how sick inside the company is.
At least they greenlit it though, I guess.
Alex ross art is just glorious 😎😎😎😎
Got my copy which is the Diamond PX edition, one of 3,000. Awesome.
Got mine too! Beautiful!
what comics should be
1st time I've seen you excited about anything in a while.
Yup. I'm getting this.
the pages are so thick !!! its so solid !!!
It looks amazing
My copy is on the way
Am gonna have to pick this up. Would've been nice if they advertised this even slightly.
I just finished reading the book, it was soo gud from the story to the artwork. Only sad bid is it was a one off, i wish they would handover FF4 over to Alex Ross. And this coming from someone who's not a big fan of FF4
I've never read a Fantastic Four comic book in my life, should I pick up this comic book and read it or will I be lost?
I think this is fine for new readers. They explain very briefly how 'This Man...This Monster' affects the story.
@@Wes_From_TC ok thanks.
Awesome! My copy arrives today. Alex Ross has an excellent video over on his UA-cam channel where he talks about his thoughts about Kirby, FF, comics history, and his thoughts on his own artwork, including doing the inked pages. He talks about trying to synthesize a happy medium between Kirby's powerful almost abstract at times style of illustration with Ross' own hyper-realistic style. Everyone who loves classic Marvel should buy this.
The MCU HAS to get this right. I remember the old Hanna-Barbera Fantastic Four cartoon where teamwork was the key to their operation. Bought this book today as a result of this recommendation, only $25. Shame that this was a licensed book and not actually a Marvel production.
Honestly marvel doesn't deserve your money. Not after the way they have treated the fans
@@zemox2534 She-Hulk's finale was egregious.
Hi. I got my copy on Wednesday and it is a truly awesome “comic book”! 👍🏻
Got this delivered yesterday. I’m finishing up Echolands first. Then I can’t wait to read this. I’ll come back and watch this video after reading it.
Marvel should be sending every single one of their writers a copy of this and telling them to study what can be done when you have a love for the craft and subject matter instead of treating comics as a fucking stepping stone to Hollywood.
Wes... this was not the first original graphic novel by Marvel... there literally was a series of OGNs in the 1980s (one even featured the first appearance of the New Mutants ahead of their solo book). And there was Avengers: RAGE of Ultron, an original graphic novel, back in 2015.
I said this is the first Fantastic Four GN with original content. I've read 'Death of Captain Marvel', 'God Loves, Man Kills', etc.
has a neal adams look to it
Dang, this is a bummer. I swore off of giving Marvel Comics my money.
I will have to wait and get this second hand.
you pushed me over the fence. i wasn't sure if i was gonna get this. lord knows my collection is big enough but i was on the fence on this one. thanks for review.
Looks nice. Shame Alex Ross wasted his story & artwork on a Marvel property & just create his own properties & publish the book himself. I would of gave it shot if it was his own book.
With how modern society and politics have destroyed the concept of family, it is no surprising that hey don't know how to grasp, much less write about a family. I guess this books must be indeed good, and I hope it inspires, and gives some much needed values to, new generations. I hope hey get a hold of this book.
I hate when I can't watch the video because I don't want spoilers.
I did my best to keep big spoilers out. Only covered the basics about the book.
@@Wes_From_TC I'm going to see if I can pick it up this weekend and then come back and watch.
Ordered this yesterday and looking forward to reading it
Shame the new movies won’t be anything like this
It was Alex Ross that got me into DC, I seen a cover for JUSTICE and thought it was the most amazing picture I ever seen, I seen the comic on the shelf in the grocery store and had to buy it. Can’t believe Alex is doing an entire comic again.
This book is a result of hiring someone who has passion for these characters lol
It is a very good book
_Heeey!_ Mikey actually *_likes_* something! ;) I think the underlying drawings are great. The inking, however, is very sub-par, and that's unfortunate. It's very loose and scratchy, a far cry from the beautiful work of Joe Sinnott.
Alex did a book on wonder woman called spirit of truth also very good
Holy crap that looks awesome.
Reminder: Marvel still makes money from it if you buy it. I didn't expect any lesser from Alex Ross. Obviously it was going to be great. Let's not go crawling back to the enemy.
I'm actually going to pick this up now. I don't usually like Alex Ross' style of sequential art, Marvels and Kingdom Come are enough of that for my collection this looks much more up my alley.
*I said it before... I will say it again... MANY TIMES... I nominate Alex Ross... who SHOULD be... the ONLY man to have FULL-CONTROL to RUN and HEAD DC Comics... HE is EXACTLY what DC needs right now... HIS vision of superheroes are UNMATCHED in my opinion... HE is the PERFECT traditionalist... HE defines heroes... CORRECTLY... I just love HIM and HIS work for 30 years now... ever since Terminator baby... HE wouldn't be DC's Kevin Feige... He'd be DC's Walt Disney... awesome... rock on... God Bless*
Also Geoff Johns.
@Juani DC *exactly... how stupid can they(DC) be... they have worked with this man for decades... and the thought NEVER crossed their minds... can we get a campaign going to nominate him... I wish I knew how to do that sort of thing... any help here would be great*
He’s clearly a marvel guy though
@@TheMastermind729 *No he's not... he has done work as universaly as one would be allowed to... EVERY major comic company and more has used his versions of heroes for their covers... he CONTINUALLY goes AGAINST the current trends or progressive stories and art... PURE traditionalist... even his costume designs are THE BEST... I wish Hollywood would notice more often... and David Zazlav*
@Juani DC *can not argue with you there... you summed it up perfectly... they are STUPID... I stopped reading a long time ago myself... collected for over 45 years now... there has been not much to want to collect... until now... I'll buy this one...BECAUSE of Alex Ross... NOT Marvel... I follow his work... and I sent a message to Alex himself to ask if he would even consider that position if it were offered to him... FULL-CONTROL of every aspect of EVERYTHING DC Comics... let's see if he responds... I'll let you know if he does*
I wouldn't say the best ff story in 15 years fatastic four antithesis by neal adams is pretty great and that come out around 2018 I think
I am very intrigued to found out about this issue. (pause) I just ordered it thanks to you and your review of this Book. thank you for another honest video not like the other people (you know who you are fucking sale outs)
Naysayers: The Fantastic Four suck! They are boring! Nobody gives a hot shit!
Alex Ross: Fools! You speak ignorance! I shall now show you their majesty in all its glory!
Naysayers: Bullsh- 🤯
