Can I Install This Power Bank Battery Into An iPhone?? 10,000 mAh
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 лип 2022
- iPhone batteries are small, naturally because they're made to be as compact as possible. But not everyone needs their phone to be so compact. Some people, myself included, would prefer better battery life. In this video we're going to see if we can install a 10,000 mAh battery into this iPhone. That would drastically improve the native 2900 mAh battery and allow me to use this phone for days at a time. Let's see if we can pull this of...

Hello
Hi
hi
Hi
The reason it did not work the first time was that the 2 LiPo batteries together in series gives roughly 7.4 volts which is way above what the iPhone 7 needs which is 3.7. The abnormality is what could have caused the boot loop since it didn’t know what to do with all the power at once. In fact you’re lucky you didn’t fry anything
These batteries must be in parallel and not in series. I'm not sure if the phone can handle more than 6 volts on the battery traces. Most smaller chips are limited at 5.5 volts at the absolute maximum ratings
@@hristomirchev4026 good point.
@@hristomirchev4026 I'm surprised that the BMS survived that voltage without actually starting to discharge the batteries.
@@hristomirchev4026 also the actual voltages used are as small as 0.6v
That's what I wanted to say
Don't think the people at Apple would like this and I'm not even sure why they wouldn't. I just know they would not approve in the least. If you took this step any further they would get their people to cripple this workaround with a firmware update. Guaranteed.
who cares what apple thinks, they didn't give a shit to their customers since forever.
its using a real bms board i dont think they can patch it out i dont think apple will care they dont care about hackintoshes and thats a way larger number of people than who would ever do this
@NoisyGamer ur mum wears socks to bed don’t tell me to mind my own buisness
They wouldnt approve cuz they want u to waste ur money and buy a mew phone but just with a different design
yeah because they would release a new update just because one guy soldered a battery which has to much voltage to his iphone.
Now I really wanna try making a giant battery, a 3d printed thick af iphone housing, and some really long screen ribbon cables and make the thickest iphone ever
Make it durable like the 3GS
Yeee def do a 3d printed case for it
@@dirrology I don't have a 3d printer but I think thats a minor issue I got this

It's great to see you making longer videos again. Welcome back!
Really miss long videos and I’m glad that you feels better now 🙌🏻
I’m happy to see a vid from you. I’m excited to see this go further. As always, good work. ♥️

I’m not much of a tech guy, so why do I find these so satisfying?
So brilliant! Thank you for figuring this out - ohhhh the possibilities!! 😆

Phone repair Guru is the master of fixing phones!
Modding too
uh, no.
Just a thought… at the end you said you might drill a hole in the back for the battery. But a cleaner look would be to 3d print an edge piece that the screen and the back can snap to. Make the edge thick enough and the new battery looks like it could fit inside the phone.
You’d end up with a chunky iPhone but 10ah would be worth the extra thickness.
My thoughts exactly
I love this kind of technology videos ❤️
I Am Addicted To Your Videos!
All Batteries that are made up of Li-ion technology have the same characteristics when considering the voltage. i.e 3.8v = 50%, 4.2v = 100% above 4.2 = explosion and below 2.9 = dead etc. so, you can swap anything with anything. Always make sure that the BMS board is compatible. that's all it need.
Question: Where do you buy the screens that you use in repairs?
Mobilesentrix they only sell to people who have phone business and valid tax id

So you could 3d print a case and use a MASSIVE battery? I’d love to buy such a case. Perfect for hiking.
I mean this is cool, but there already are iphone cases that do this.

I did this to my old androids Sgs2, sgn4, a70 and a few tablets as they are making timelapse videos and should survive poweroutages while running hard. The sgn4 i modded because i was using it hard and used 3 metal-cased lipos on the back with cosmetic and somewhat protective plasticcasing. Used it ss a daily driver for 3 yesrs in that condition adding 3 years of life to the device as the batteries was getting hard to get by bc of the devices age. Used it for a total of 6,5 years.
Are there any risk that we exclude a power bank controller from the electrical circuit?
I thought to do the same thing with my old Samsung but to solder it to a power bank output instead of direct connection to a phone bms board
Would you mind doing a tutorial? I wanna do it on my old phones too
The better version of the energizer phone 😂
Love content bro its helped me repair my iPhone its like a Tutorial
we'd love a tour of your workshop/setup! :)
Best thing would be to 3D print a back that can accommodate the battery.
Loved this one 🤩
I wish I could do something similar with a cheap android phone too ( I run python codes on them in loop for days).
You’d still need to keep them connected
@@John-zp2jm But I can move around different cities, without worrying about charger, power bank…
I will be the happiest person to get a 20000 mAH power bank running android 12🫥
@@sudoAnalytics lmao it’s still a lithium battery at the end of the day, it would only last 1 day
I’m gonna try this 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Good one bro
Good to have you back man.
Hey phone repair guru , can you run a accubattery test to see wheather the iPhone is determining that the attached battery is of 10000mah
Hey PhoneRepairGuru, i was just wondering from where do you buy all the replacement stuff and screens?
He gets it from mobilesentrix, but their generally more business oriented, for person I would use injured gadgets, or ebay if you feel like searching for oem and stuff
Finally i found this kind of video. I will try this on my older phones
You are dope bro! Damn , thank you so much, subbed
This looked like an awesome experiment, personally I wish phone manufacturers would forget trying to make the thinnest device possible, and instead just offer the best performance and battery life possible. A phone with 10,000mAh battery would be insane (plus it would then have the thickness to offer headphone jack, expandable storage, and basically every other feature that was useful, but has since departed us).
yeah i like thick phones alot
You should use ulefone or oukitel smartphone..
@@muhdaimanharith if only they offered quality near other manufacturers
Check out the Unihertz Tank. It has a 22,000 mAh battery
I strongly recommend getting longer wires than drilling the iPhone body 😁
Nice one Cant wait for the results
Can't wait to see what are you going to do next 😆😆
Battery life will show up as 1000% capacity 😂
I'm just going to 3d print a case that can hold both my phone, and a power bank.
smart😂only if he thought of this and he wouldn't be wasting so much time on connecting the phone to the battery
But then you are charging the powerbank, which then charges the phone... but other than that, it works.
I did it with 4 18650 batteries on the Samsung S4, cool video BTW.👌
pretty cool idea! thanks!
I just had this idea where the iPhone using (external) batteries instead of having internal batteries. It would've decreases the amount of heat when you're playing games and not to forget the weight too. Just wondering whether long cables/connector affect the power delivery to the logic board.
@@androidmaster3369 batteries dont explode when they touch dust

Bro im wating for pt2 keep it up🤙
I really want to attach the phone to power bank, keep doing we love your content)

First of all, I love your Videos. This is a funny idea but it seems like you have missed something very important. The Battery from the Powerbank has a nominal voltage of 3.7V and a voltage of 4.2V when fully charged. The Iphones Battery however has a slightly higher Voltage of 3.8V and around 4.4V when fully charged. That means if you charge up the Battery with the Iphones BMS you will overcharge it and it could be a fire hazard. Even though both are Lithium Ion-Polymer Batteries they have different voltages per cell.I have encountered this voltage problem myself as I did the Same you did with a Galaxy s7.
what if we using phone battery with the same spec but higher capacity?
@@surapurna thats possible but sadly there are many sellers who rebrand normal or even used batteries as higher capacity. It is possible to make a fitting cell with a slightly higher capacity but you still have the physics of a battery that limits its capacity. Else we would have much bigger capacity batteries in our phones:)
@@cinematica9073 like a tablet battery for example. Or just stack double triple the same exact battery in series
@@surapurna Yes but you need to connect them in Parallel and not in series. If you connect them in series the voltages are getting added up
If you want to increase the capacity you have to connect the cells in parallel.
This video helped me very much because if my phone battery dies I will definitely do this.
I wonder how far you can go in terms of housing and "hardware hacks"... btw you're my favorite UA-camr love your content 😎
Fun experiment.
I'm just wondering if overcharging (well maybe not overcharging, but more a charge problem ;-) is an issue here, since the capacity of the new battery is much larger.
This is extremely dangerous as the iPhone charges its batteries to 4,35V whereas standard Power bank and regular liion batterys only charge to 4.2V.
By connecting the wrong bms you basically left the battery at the iPhones mercy. It will probably attempt to overcharge it and could destroy the cells, resulting in a blown Battery and a fire hazard.
If you attempt this, watch the cell chemistry and rated voltage before soldering a foreign bms to it.
Yeah I can’t wait to see you do that man
that is really impressive. nice one!!

Energizer did this a while back with an 18,000mAh battery. I'm pretty sure the product failed, but it was also super thick and absurdly heavy for a phone.
Interesting, I will like and been subscribed :)
I love your videos!!!!
I've been doing this from my past android phones just to have a long lasting battery and it really works.
You're a genius, bro!
This is so cool! Pls do a battery test🙏😂
I will say because I've experienced it that if your phone has a giant battery it'll be super heavy.
I had a huge battery case for my phone that made my phone last like three or four days (usually 2.5) on full charge of both batteries.

I love tech so much and I want to meet this person some day.. In Sha Allah

Good job 👍
I’ve done this about a year ago. I put 3 iphone 7plus battery on the back and glue it down. Also another one inside. Still powers on until now.
Actually you need to activate the battery first after you disconnect it from the bms. You need a battery activator. Or you can charge it with your power supply. Just give 5volt about 10 sec and the battery should be good to go. The bms will go to "protect” mode after disconnecting the battery.
