I swear if Roy Jones and Tyson made a "how to" boxing fundamentals DVD program or something, that shit would sell like hot cakes. Both the MMA and Boxing crowd would eat it up.
I mean yes, but the thing is the techniques they employed only worked because of the freakish physical tools they had. Their speed, power and explosiveness were beyond anything even extremely athletic people can hope to have. You have to base your game off a realistic assessment of your physical attributes so for my money, I want to learn from someone who achieved greatness through their technique and IQ in spite of average physical tools. Like LeBron vs Steph Curry in basketball.
Do you understand the timing, rythm, reflexes, and endurance it takes to work that crazy (double end) bag in that fashion? Hand eye coordination is one thing, but Roy possess a pure gift. You could literally blind fold him and he'll land those combinations by just hearing the sound of the wind after the first punch.
the craziest part might be that all these clips are from when he was like 10 years past his prime. If you ever saw some of the build-up HBO clips of what he could do back in like 1993-1999 it was incredible.
Amir khan, keith Thurman, Kell Brook, Trim Bradley, Jesse Vargas all got great handspeeed but Roy's hand speed is two weight classes bellow than what he was. Example Roy at HW had hand speed of a LHW
Thanos Brady Roy in his prime was faster than Ray Leonard, according to Leonard himself. Not just hand speed, but also reflexes and foot speed. Floyd didn’t do as many mega combo flurries like Roy did either.
This is a post prime jones mostly between 39-43. Idk how he was when he had the head band on maybe 34-36 but the crazy thing is he still has better hand speed than most 147 pounders in their prime and he's at LH and cruiser in this montage. I want to see training vids of him when he was at 160-168 prime omg.
My favorite ever. Pick anyone in the weight classes ( past or present) that he fought in, Roy would've beat 'em (even those ranked higher than him P4P).
Roy was the only Boxer I've ever seen throw full punches on the double end bag with consistent accuracy. Most if not all the rest, shorten up their punches for the sake of speed. Not Roy. And he do the same with power punches. Sick!
these are all more recent clips too. I remember when they would have little segments on HBO when they'd show him doing things at looked even more supernatural. At his peak, no one was ever better.
Please don't put a sound track, please dont out a soundtrack... Thank God he didn't put a soundtrack. I wasn't aware how good of a fighter Roy Jones is. He's one of the G.O.A.T.S. without a doubt.
BY FAR THE BEST IVE SEEN ON THE SPEED BAG AND DOUBLE END BAG. MUCH BETTER THAN MAYWEATHER. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE THEM TWO FIGHT IN THEIR PRIMES. MY MONEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ON ROY!
I think roy jones jr is one of the nicest guys in boxing ----and really very good ---- I saw where he was bothered by the violence of boxing maybe they sould let boxers wear head gear in fights -----well anyways I like roy jones jr
When he throws multiple left hooks is 1 of the hooks an arm punch and 2 of them using the hips? If so whats the point of the arm punch between the 2 proper left hooks?
It's to throw u off witch it does and u pay for it with the other two hooks one hurt more after the other smfh not only smart but he hit just as hard as a heavyweight actually harder starting from a middleweight so imagine wen he gained more muscle
I swear if Roy Jones and Tyson made a "how to" boxing fundamentals DVD program or something, that shit would sell like hot cakes. Both the MMA and Boxing crowd would eat it up.
now they are going to fight against each other

@@tjbogscallos3284 Roy Jones Jr was Favored to Beat Mike Tyson in his Prime. The match up never happened after he beat Ruiz..
Big man got some skills too. Props to him, not many can run those mits on Roy Jones Jr like he's doing. Props to the big cat. ;-)
I was thinking the same exact thing.
That hand speed is some scary shit!
My favorite boxer ever
A single combo for Roy looked like a single hit to us, he’s that fast
yup he master of the combos
His speed is INSANE. RJ top 3 all time greatest boxers for me, easily.
When he punches his hands are so relaxed its smoothe like a piece pf art being made
2:26 that quick double punch if you didn't hear it you wouldn't know it was thrown. FAST AS LIGHTENING.
the craziest part might be that all these clips are from when he was like 10 years past his prime. If you ever saw some of the build-up HBO clips of what he could do back in like 1993-1999 it was incredible.
the definition of speed and power
This guy hands is faster then most welterweights of today if not all
Amir khan, keith Thurman, Kell Brook, Trim Bradley, Jesse Vargas all got great handspeeed but Roy's hand speed is two weight classes bellow than what he was. Example Roy at HW had hand speed of a LHW
faster than fly weights son
Not faster than Floyd's hands though. He does throw combos the fastest though but single punch speed, is definitely Floyd
Thanos Brady Roy in his prime was faster than Ray Leonard, according to Leonard himself. Not just hand speed, but also reflexes and foot speed. Floyd didn’t do as many mega combo flurries like Roy did either.
Best Boxer Ever
Speed of light, an eye of a eagle!! Phenomenal!!

I think he was at 37 with the headband.
Anyway, at 1:09 he was 41. That is some INSANE speed for a 41 y/o guy.
He was 38 years old in the headband one.
WTF dude hits as fast as a cat thought the video was fast forwarded there for a second
It is
1:07 is the counter that ends lives haha
From 4:20 - 4:35 my g 💪🏾 made a beat. 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite ever. Pick anyone in the weight classes ( past or present) that he fought in, Roy would've beat 'em (even those ranked higher than him P4P).
roy gets into a zone when he trains.
True my friend but which boxer doesn’t haha
The GOAT!!! Thanks for sharing!
perfect skills ...
He was over 37 years old in all these clips as well.
I could watch Roy throw those triple hooks all day. Shit is fast as fk
Roy was the only Boxer I've ever seen throw full punches on the double end bag with consistent accuracy. Most if not all the rest, shorten up their punches for the sake of speed. Not Roy. And he do the same with power punches. Sick!
Most god gifted boxer of modern times a freak of nature

Bro was an absolute machine!
Should be in the Hall soon. Amazing fighter and class dude.
Amazing handspeed and accuracy this man was amazing 👌

Please don't put a sound track, please dont out a soundtrack...
Thank God he didn't put a soundtrack. I wasn't aware how good of a fighter Roy Jones is. He's one of the G.O.A.T.S. without a doubt.
That's crazy!!
Roy wasnt the most powerful puncher, he just had the best way of delivering and placing them that emphasised the damage
Never in my life have I seen someone in harmony perform an instrumental with a speed bag I think he punched air from it as well
Respect
The hand speed is phenomenal. Like to see Floyd dodge that...
i always felt that Roy was the only one who could beat Floyd the master of defense
Jesus Christ I can't even find the words, most of this wasent even his prime that's the scariest part
2:27 punch is lightning
The Michael Jordan of Boxing
Nas phone tap in the background🔥
Uppercut at :51 is insane
Rjj is for me the best boxer that ever exist
You can hear the power
Him & Sugar Ray Robinson man!
BY FAR THE BEST IVE SEEN ON THE SPEED BAG AND DOUBLE END BAG. MUCH BETTER THAN MAYWEATHER. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE THEM TWO FIGHT IN THEIR PRIMES. MY MONEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ON ROY!
+jgyrwa Roy fought at heavyweight he's the much bigger man he should win.
+Oll Bee roy was a natural middleweight
I'm aware of what weights he fought at. Not every middleweight can become a heavy their frame isn't big enough.
Lol...Roy started at Light middle weight, and Floyd started at Super feather weight...not much else needs to be said
4:20 beat lol
Exactly.
6:30
hitting the pads sounds like gun shots
unorthodox has his way to the top
What was that last song he shadow boxing to?
Roy was so fast that he can hit bag 3 times with left hook before it even bounce back!))))
So my niece watched the highlights and said "dang big bro got some skills"
Fastest hooks I’ve ever seen lol
The only thing I liked about this video is that medicimbal work on abs
I read a lot of people statements about roy jones prime.relax please, roy is always ''in his prime''or better in ''the best shape''
I think roy jones jr is one of the nicest guys in boxing ----and really very good ---- I saw where he was bothered by the violence of boxing maybe they sould let boxers wear head gear in fights -----well anyways I like roy jones jr
Some boy in his prime mind
in his prime, maybe the greatest athlete on two legs.
Can anyone tell me what's the difference between the speed bag Roy trains with here and the headhunter bag?
show man
what oz gloves ar these
@BL00D for PRIDE no way easily 16oz+.....10oz gloves are no where near that fat
Which song is in the end of video?
Roy is training for joe calzahge
At 4:57 it sounds like a gun popping off
When he throws multiple left hooks is 1 of the hooks an arm punch and 2 of them using the hips? If so whats the point of the arm punch between the 2 proper left hooks?
It's to throw u off witch it does and u pay for it with the other two hooks one hurt more after the other smfh not only smart but he hit just as hard as a heavyweight actually harder starting from a middleweight so imagine wen he gained more muscle
None of the hooks are arm punches...

3.55 omg that speed
Can anyone figure out the name of the song that is playing at the start of 2:12? It sounds like 2pac but I can't put my finger on the song
CS Swain I think it's from Dr. Dre ft. Ice Cube - Natural Born Killaz
The song is murder was the case, snoop dogg
Song from 6:25 ?
4:58 hey does anyone know the song name?
