I know this is 6 months old, but I had to pop in and say I think this is one of my favorite projects of yours. Excluding Gretchen and Gunther, of course.
I'm not a huge fan of yellow, but my great aunt Liz loved seeing me in it. As a child, every piece of clothing she gave me was yellow. Between Aunt Liz, being Team Instinct in Pokémon GO and Hufflepuff in Harry Potter, I've grown to appreciate yellow.
Yes, the yellow one is beautiful, and yellow isn't my favorite color to work with either. They are all beautiful, but I think I actually prefer the yellow one. Thanks for sharing your great ideas.
LOVE watching you create Margreth, you're always so inspiring! Yes, ticking! It's an all cotton material generally used to hold pillows and mattresses together in the manufacturing process. I live in a small town in Southern California, US and can't get it here but I do remember selling it at the fabric store I used to work at in a larger city. Good luck finding some, Lovey! Hugs, MK 🤗❤️🤗
I know you said use what you have and I have everything under the sun, except for birds. Butterflies, flowers, hearts. Next stop, Etsy, but just for a browse (insert laughing). Take care and thanks for sharing.
Ohhh!!!! so love those birds. Wish I could find books like you do. I so love how you encourage people who don't have the variety tools like us seasoned paper crafters do. So enjoyed your relaxing play tonight. I really needed to take a breath and relax. Thank you Margreth for all your time, energy and talent you put into your channel for us. You are a lovley role model!!! ❤
Hi Margreth, as usual, such a fun video with lots of inspiration! Yes, the fabric is called 'ticking' and I can buy it at my local fabric shop in the US, Joann Fabrics, or online at Etsy. I think Amazon also sells some. And yes, the yellow tag is stunning! Love it!
Evening Margreth, loved, loved the tags. Its one way of using up book pages. Loved the birds, the red one is definatley my favourite. Thank you for sharing with us, your collaging is always such a pleasure to watch. Blessings and hugs as usual from Cape Town. Diana 😀🤗🦊🦊
Hello Margreth, lovely collaged tags with pockets, they came out so pretty. I feel the same with the colors red & yellow, only use them in junk journal ephemera. TFS
OMG!!! I did it!!! I finally made something while watching you! I made 2 tags and honestly liked my first better but that is ok I took the steps. They are now dated and next I will make a place to store things as I make them!!! THANK YOU told my daughter my bff is in the Netherlands and doesn’t even know I exist lol❤
It is ticking or mattress ticking. Most drapery or upholstery shops carry it. You might try Amazon. Also it comes with different color stripes. Blue, gray, black , green or red. There is also grain sack cloth that has subtle stripes.
Loved this video, Margreth! The tags were all stunning but, yes, the yellow one absolutely 'popped'. I'm glad that I'm not the only person who names her objects!! I got such a kick from hearing you talking to 'Art'. Such fun!❣ Thank you for such a great hour! Plus, I will now have some wonderful tags.
36 mins in and you just asked about why baby wipes are used. When I started crafting 20 yrs ago most of the quality stamps were the red rubber ones. We were told not to use alcohol wipes as the rubber would get damaged. The sensitive baby wipes are water based with no alcohol in. I still use them, even on my clear silicone and polymer stamps. Your tags are great. TFS ♥️
love them!!! sometimes I use a big glob of Nuvo drops or Stickles and then stick the button into it- as soon as I finish making my charity cards I am going to just have fun and play like you. I think when Spring comes I will hit the thrift shop and look for some old books. love from USA
So lovely margreth, I was running around my house like a crazy woman looking for my bird books 🤣🤣, love the idea of folding the bottom of the tag up to create the pocket, much quicker solution xx
Yes, the fabric you are thinking of is called ticking here in the states. You can find it in fabric shops here, usually wherever they have the "duck cloth". Thrift stores often have it also - I usually like the feel of the vintage fabric best. Look for some place that sells vintage fabrics. Although blue ticking usually comes to mind, there are lots of other colors as well. I've had yellow, pink, turquoise, navy, black, and red.
I love these tags, they are all beautiful. When you glue the 2 pages together, glue one upside down so when you fold the bottom part up for the pocket, writing will not be upside down. Going to make some of these now. Thank you for sharing and all of your time. ☺♥
Hi Margaret, I have recently found your channel and love watching you create. I am new to this type of papercraft, as I have made cards and do scrapbooking before. I absolutely love your 'Bibs and Bobs' saying. Looking forward to creating 😊 I am in Australia.
Ticking is the striped fabric you mentioned. It's used most often for zippered pillow covers which go under the pillowcase. Hope that helped. LOVE your videos!!! I learn so much and get inspired to create. Also my family is Dutch!! YAY!!
I’ve only recently discovered your videos. You make beautiful stuff and you have a great sense of humor. 🙂 I recognize a few species of birds on the cover of your bird book. I have two small conure parrots and have looked for old artwork depicting them.
Ticking. that's it. At 40:30 A rather heavy weight cotton canvas type material. My grandfather was a mattress manufacturer and we used "mattress ticking" for nearly everything outdoors. Once my grandparents moved and would not give us the address, just the neighborhood, and he told us we'd know the place when we saw it - "mattress Ticking" flags across the front porch!
Love the tags. Yes the striped fabric is called pillow ticking. It can come in different colors. It is used to make the a pillow itself that the feathers are put into, originally . It is a little heavier and tightly woven to keep the feathers from sticking thru.
Ohhh Forgot about the ticking.... in the States we use it as the go to fabric for down pillows. It is quite heavy. There is also a lighter weight one we use for kitchen towels called grain sack. it is like a linen fabric. We can buy it on Amazon and also in our fabric shops. Good Luck on the quest for the fabric you want. 😃👍
I just found you about 8 or 10 videos ago, and after seeing this one and the 4 tags altogether, I think I have figured out this thing about mixed media / using scraps and collecting scraps. You have taught me a lot already - you are a very talented artist with a wonderful eye for putting all those little bits and pieces of discarded, lost and found items together. How awesome to be able to do that. Thanks for your videos - a new subscriber!
Hi Margreth the title of this video said beginner 😊but you are taking the more experienced makers back to basics. This is a great video for all of us. This was a very relaxing video. TFS❤
You can find ticking in most fabric store here in U.S. They come in several colors. Some Etsy shoppes have it also. Hope you find it somewhere closer to your home!
These tag pockets are so sweet! I definitely plan on making some of these. As far as I know, baby wipe’s don’t have any oil or lotion in them. They are pretty cheap here in the states and so handy for cleaning stamps too. 😊
Love these... On my to do list 😃 if you dont have ink for distressing you could use old eyeshadow. You can get ticking in the uk from curtain fabric sections in your fabric shop xx
You've already been given the basics about ticking, but I have seen it in blue, black, gray, red, and sort of an olive green. There may be more colors than than. It is also in different weights of fabric, from a canvas sort of weight to lighter weights. I hope you find some.
I tea dye new book pages to make them look old. Just don't leave them in very long or they will fall apart. I get the books at the dollar store because resale shops are expensive.
Ah super leuk!
You have such a good eye for making collages! You piece them together like they came that way to begin with! 🤗❤️ Tamara
☺️😘
I know this is 6 months old, but I had to pop in and say I think this is one of my favorite projects of yours. Excluding Gretchen and Gunther, of course.
👍🏻👍🏻😘
I'm not a huge fan of yellow, but my great aunt Liz loved seeing me in it. As a child, every piece of clothing she gave me was yellow. Between Aunt Liz, being Team Instinct in Pokémon GO and Hufflepuff in Harry Potter, I've grown to appreciate yellow.
☺️👍🏻😘
We call it ticking in the USA. In the old days they used ticking for covering bed mattresses. You can purchase it from Amazon.
Unfortunately not from the Dutch or European Amazon 😢
Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations! ❤
Love this Margareth! Hope you’re feeling a bit better. Thinking of you, love and hugs, Janine x
Yes, the yellow one is beautiful, and yellow isn't my favorite color to work with either. They are all beautiful, but I think I actually prefer the yellow one. Thanks for sharing your great ideas.
😘👍🏻
The yellow tag is definitely my favorite! Yellow was my mother's favorite color. 💛
😘👍🏻
You are such a gift to those of us trying to learn! And “Drippy”…😂😂😂
😂👍🏻😘
I am always on the lookout for ticking fabric. Very relaxing I had to go back because I fell asleep. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
😂😴😘
Lol! I NEVER buy Tim Holtz but I actually just bought that exact package! Now I can watch a professional use them and get ideas❤❤
☺️👍🏻😘
I love these. I watched the video and now I am replaying so I can craft along with you. Thank you for sharing. ❤

The fabric was never used over here. So it’s nowhere to be found 😢
I know you said use what you have and I have everything under the sun, except for birds. Butterflies, flowers, hearts. Next stop, Etsy, but just for a browse (insert laughing). Take care and thanks for sharing.

These tags are all great but the yellow one is outstanding. Fun video as always. Thanks Margareth.
You’re welcome Janet 😘😘

Hi Margreth! They all turned out awesome! I agree the yellow one is stunning!
Thanks sweetheart 💛
Had a go at making these lovely pocket tags. Love them!
Love it!
I have looked it up on Amazon , the shipping is 3 times the price of the fabric 😧
It’s just not available in the Netherlands 😢
I'm so sorry love ☹️- maybe your thrift stores might have old bedding you can tear up?
I just love your birds! The tags are really wonderful. I am not a fan of yellow either but that tag is spot on, it is just wonderful. Thank you.
😘👍🏻

I am thoroughly enjoying the names you give your tools. I am notorious for naming things, too. 😊 I call my Art Glitter Glue Aggie.
