Ain't no way Damian is 46. His ass could never have played high school ball in the physical era of the 90s.
I was one of the plumbers guarding Jordan
How does this affect Damian's legacy? 🤔
We DONE with the 90s ‼
Today's soft anime fans couldn't hang with the physical otakus of the 90s 💪
"You mean that show would be better if the author was better at writing"🤯
The Mimic being 3rd in popularity is incredible.

the more Damian continues his old man bit the more I find myself second guessing how old Damian really is - the dry delivery of it is too convincing LOL
from an actual animator/artist perspective, hell’s paradise looked awful especially in the second half. the animation was stiff and the drawings were constantly off model
Yeah, imo it's an ugly show that could've made up for it with a lot more style and production value, I mean even I was duped into watching two seasons of Demon Slayer.
@@cyberspacecat Demon Slayer is actually pretty good, and you know that people who read made the manga one of the highest selling weren't reading it for the amazing artwork.
@@thomasffrench3639 well to each their own
@@cyberspacecat would you read the manga for the artwork? Probably not. I just find it funny that people say the manga was carried by animation, but at the end of the day people are invested in the story enough to read even with okay artwork.
From a normal persons perspective I thought the show looked good 🤷🏻♂️ it was nice a colorful I didn’t have a problem with it like everybody else did apparently
This is no hate to you but I think you fundamentally misunderstood what was being said in the MAPPA comment; the fact that a lot of their anime are high quality is part of the problem, they brute force all of their shows with crazy high standard that can barely be met and have insanely terrible conditions as a result. JJK and Hell's Paradise showed that brute force can only get you so far, as those shows broke and fell apart and exposed just how flawed they are. Their high quality is a result of throwing as much staff as they can on all sorts of projects with barely any time, and the end product may be good but it's basically held together by sticky tape and can crack at any moment due to the rickety nature of how it's all forcefully made. It's more than just "Well these shows looked good tho.. so how bad can MAPPA be?"
100%. i don’t think he understand the whole drama of MAPPA last year. yeah part of it was the final product’s quality, but the main issue was the awful conditions that allowed for those cracks to start forming.
Can’t believe this dude was born in 1978.
I see anime as more like the film industry than most people realize. Films are generally profitable like anime, but no one is watching all of the critically acclaimed movies, just the ones that appeal to a general audience. It's the same with anime, except a little more niche.
I compare to tv series and comic industry
@@Soulking1234-s3q Honestly, it pretty much applies to any industry, but film is what I am most familiar with
People will look at Jujutsu Kaisen and say the writing is amazing because people die and has great animation.
Good series, just not outstanding or incredible from a storytelling perspective.
@@kevintanza6968 Overall the writing is decent, but ngl I think Yuji Itadori is probably one of the most underrated shounen protags I've seen in nearly a decade. He's a solid A tier on my books, really well-written when compared to most other mainstream shounen protags these days (Tanjiro, Asta, Deku etc)
The comment in the thumbnail is absolutely correct btw
Wow my favorite 60 year old UA-cam releasing more bangers
People out here treating anime popularity polls with the same seriousness like they're from pew research center. Lol
There’s No way he’s actually 46? 😭, Not that there’s anything wrong with that (obviously) I just never would’ve guessed?
My hot take: Fullmetal Alchemist is too flawed to be the best anime of all time or number 1 on MAL. People say it is consistent enough unlike other anime, but I do not think that is true. It has a rushed first half, and one of the worst first episodes I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t have the highs of other series and still has lower lows than other amazing anime have. It only gets that high based off a great dub and a solidly told story. Defiant amazing enough to get an 8/10 but nothing more.
The first half is rushed if you compare it to the manga, but it's still pretty consistent with the pacing of the show overall. FMAB is brilliant, and it attracts fans from all genres, meaning that most people give it high scores. Also, the ending is extremely satisfying which left most of watchers with ith a good taste their mout

I just realized 1/3 of the video's length is about Mappa. 😆
Honestly in my humble opinion, I tend to connect more with main characters than the side characters. For example, I think Naruto is way more interesting than Rock Lee, so I wasn't really mad when he got sidelined like a lot of fans did.
@Noctislolig I honestly was pretty satisfied with Rock Lee as a character. I think he served his purpose and told an engaging story. There was nothing really more that could be done with that character. I just never found him as engaging or interesting as a lot of people seemed to. And even though I would say that Naruto didn't come into his own until Part 2, I still found him more interesting than Lee in Part 1.
I think that’s normal. Some just have ‘I hate MC’ syndrome and always pick side characters as their favorites or the ones they connect to most. It happens with main love interests, too. Then, occasionally, there’s anime where maybe the main character is annoying or boring so then that could be why the side characters shine and outperform the MC in their own series. Like the AOT poll, people don’t care for Eren. So there’s a massive difference between Eren (#10) and Levi. (#1). Not counting instances where the side character just truly was that lovable. Basically MC is still high and side character is just a bit more popular. It’s not like AOT poll with Eren and Levi.
I really do mean it when I say I believe some have ‘I hate MC’ syndrome because I think if their fav character were to get their own spin-off show, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these types pick yet another side character because that’s all it is. They just don’t like the mains because the character is a main or because they want to act in this ‘I’m not like other girls way’ or I’m not like other people’ way.
@@FullmoonPhantom-dn2srI see very few people who hate the Mc just cause. It's usually because the Mc is just less interesting or a side character is likeable and you just wanna see more of them.
Edit: Someone already made this point my bad still keeping this up
@@FullmoonPhantom-dn2sr I remember seeing a lot of hardcore fans mad that Eren was not number 1, "because he was better written" and it makes me laugh. Are people's favorite characters really determined by how well written a character is? Very rarely, but the "writing is the only important factor" bros will never understand that.
@@thomasffrench3639 AOT beginning to now is kinda different. There was a lot of Eren hate in the beginning like s1 days. People loved AOT as a 10/10 thrill ride, but opinions on Eren were very mixed. Some were fans and others were annoyed he was so angry, annoying, edgy, and too shounen protag. He made the entirety of s1 feel too shounen battle. Then, over the decade, I’ve noticed opinions on the show have shifted. Mine as well. My impression of AOT s1 is completely different from what it became later. Even just up to s3 where I left off watching. (I haven’t seen the end just yet.) I also have noticed more Eren love. Though, I’m still unsurprised Levi love outperforms it. Honestly, Levi was top tier. Though, I also remember loving Potato girl.
Wait, Damian is 46 and he was in a hs schoo basketballl varsity team and got head from Jenby Song 38 yrs ago!! Damn!
Bro standing on business 😭 11:56
that peaked at high school portion is a tooooo real, i stay being nostalgic
It's something a lot of nerds and geeks don't understand which make it hard for me to relate to
and that's ok too! not romanticizing high school is equally valid and should coexist, more power to people of all experiences
@@2littytitty Yeah, but it's not very validating lol. I just feel like my life has gone downhill quite a bit.
I want an anime on the Vince Lambardi era of the Green Bay Packers 😂
damn, my take didn't make it
Head from Jenny Seong in the bathroom of a Burger King is crazyy 😂😂
Mappa are literally corporate lap dogs that will take up any huge shonen mangas and throw their originals under the bus, look at Bucchiguri this season.
I mean the reason why Bucchiguri isn't popular is because apparently anime fans only watch shows based off manga despite "not reading manga"
@Noctislolig *Hell's Paradise. Don't worry, I mix them up all the time too.
@Noctislolig I stand corrected, they throw anything under the bus
All is well and done as long as Otsuka is getting sucked off by his shareholders. One of the worst company presidents in anime history
The mimic being third is like kobeni's car being higher than kobeni
Let's go this gonna be another banger video!!!
Your take on anime fans and manga fans overlapping since they’re both otaku is interesting because I used to binge all the anime I could get my hands on, but then I switched to manga and now I can’t even watch half an anime episode without getting bored, but I’ve literally read that same anime and completed it in like a couple days, although sometimes I’m forced to watch anime sometimes since i can’t find any translations to English for a manga, like for example, “The way of the house Husband”
Yeah, and I have a feeling that a lot of comic fans who have never seen an anime are picking up manga as well.
@@thomasffrench3639trust me, that has been going on for years 😂
how did I just realize his background is Leblanc
Your comments on Mappa are pretty ignorant, just because their shows look good doesn't mean they don't have terrible productions behind the scenes. If one of their shows look good it's because the animators have worked themselves to death trying to get it finished on time because of the poor schedule. It sets a bad precedent that JJK season 2 was so good because the production was so hard on the animators and other companies are going to think they can just do the same. You'd have to be an idiot to deny that Mappa treats their workers like trash and rush their projects.
This is literally what he's saying lol 4:17
The HOMIEEEEE Damian . I had a homie named Damian.... He ain't dead I just haven't seen him since high school except his nickname was Buns and his Damion was spelt like that shout out
My hot take is I would like to be unlocked by your Twitter so I can enter these. I'm sorry for cheering for Hayasaka in that best girl contest a couple summers ago and have learned the error of my ways
I feel like some of these takes gotta be the coldest takes ever. “Mappa is a bad studio”, well no shit, they abuse animators on LITERALLY every production
Imo Mappa gets too many beloved IPs for being so hit or miss. I really liked Chainsaw Man (in large part for Fujimotos sensibilities) but a lot of their shows tend to look overly flat and generic to me, so much so that I never really find myself excited when I hear they're adapting a series.
It's mainstream anime with good animation. That's why it works.
If they adapt more obscure stuff, the reception is not going to be that great. Or even romcom stuff.
Ketchup rice is actually great, and I don’t even like ketchup that much.
You being 46 is still insane to me. Big dog you look like you're still in your late twenties
05:29 My perception was maybe biased since I be in the animesphere already
How old is Damian actually?
Hot Take...
can't wait for Spring season to begin.. will probably be the highlight of the year..
Spice&Wolf remake.. Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau, Bocchi the Rock! Re: movie, Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote..
and of course the long awaited 3rd seasons of Konosuba, YURUCAMP and Hibike Euphonium...
@Noctislolig thx Good Ser.. I apprechiate it...
I had to make it into a hot take somehow ;)..
and i genuinely enjoy the Mangas certain shows you may be referring to are based on.. it's as simple as that..
@Noctislolig you are of course correct...
at least as far as the "mainstream" audience, if there is ever such a thing in Anime to begin with, is concerned.. and there is nothing wrong with that..
I may not be interested in Demon Slayer's adaptation, but of course I have read it..
my personal highlights of the season are YURUCAMP..
and more than anything the 3rd season of Hibike Euphonium.. one of my all time favourite shows from my all time favourite studio..
I have been waiting for it since 2016..
in truth I never thought we would get another season to begin with.. when I read the announcement I had to triple check..
and honestly I would have accepted it..
how can you even think about trying following 2019's "Liz to Aoi Tori" (Liz and the Blue Bird)?
after all it is the greatest Anime Film ever made..
Anime or any fiction can be rushed and still be good. But it’s not good ethics
I can definitely believe youre 46 but you also look 23 at the same time.
Wtf you’re 46! I thought you were in your late 20’s 😂
The only hot take here is your age, mah boi.
Did u watch angels of death?
In re:zero, I say Subaru dying is a spoiler!
"Everyone watches the AAA anime of the year" - false, I don't and have never watched Demon Slayer or JJK, however I watch like 50+ anime per year
I mean, I don't get why someone who watches that much anime hasn't seen those shows. Even though I didn't watch JJK, I did read the manga.
Eh action packed anime is just not my thing lol@Noctislolig - also the stories and style just never resonated with me, maybe I lied slightly, I've watched 2 or 3 episodes of season 1 of both
Fair, I'm sure they are not in any way awful either of them, just not my cup of tea@Noctislolig
@NoctisloligI disagree with JJK. Most characters are good concepts but get very little development.
I feel like JJK is the only truly good anime done by Mappa, the rest were either not great or made worse by their input imo (like AOT and Vinlands' animation quality drop)
Vinlands animation wasn't as bad as AOT, but still worse than season 1 IMO
@Noctislolig Me personally I'd rather the colossal titans look like ass than every other titan look the way they did. When it comes to action scenes in particular Mappa I feel struggles. They throw in animation for the sake of animation, and it makes it hard to follow. Even in the newest season of JJK which I'd overall say looks great, the action is hard to follow a lot of the time and while I don't know how much about the team I'd have to guess they are young or less experienced than studios like Madhouse, Bones, or UFOTABLE. These studios can convey gorgeous action scenes, and there's almost never a question about what's going on in them, very easy to track and there's clearly a lot of talent. I won't say Mappa doesn't have talent, but it feels like a lot of scenes they animate feel cluttered, almost over animated in a way you can't tell what's going on. This is obviously just my opinion, and you're free to judge mappa however you want, I just can't stand a lot of their decisions.
@Noctislolig I found that the action became hard to follow when they ramped up the speed and destruction, some moments with Toji were really great, especially the part where it slowed down with the rabbits, but when the speed ramps it gets less clear what's going on (nothing is nearly as bad as mahoraga, even the blu ray cut). I would say the mahito fights looked jank at points, probably more because of how much is on screen than the speed. The Sakuna vs Jogo fight and the mech fight earlier on in the season had some odd parts too. Again, I would say overall the season looked pretty great, I would just say other studios handle high octane action a little better imo.
I still think you're cool Damian ;)
Why was a random dating/romance hot take when the video is about anime hot takes lol, good vid tho and good advice

@@voytoxoh im a dumbass
Cuz I'm the goat
i think someone underestimates JJK popularity world wide compared to CSM . Also AoT was like the biggest thing ever for a long time
Yeah I feel like JJK is more popular than CSM
Overall I feel like that's pretty normal considering Jjk would have a much wider audience appeal at least in comparison to Csm
JJK is a lot more popular.
My hot take is that Frieren is massively overrated. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm not saying you're dumb for liking it, but I cannot fathom how it's possible that this show took the #1 spot on MAL. I feel like it's a Studio Ghibli thing where everyone is afraid to criticize it because they know they're gonna get hated for it. So instead, people pull 'reasons' why it's good out of thin air and roll with it.
On a sidenote, I've seen some people say Frieren is a better fantasy than Mushoku Tensei because Rudeus is a p*do. Well let me tell you, people who ship Frieren with Himmel do not get to complain about age gaps.
I mean this is a website with FMAB at the top all the time, so I wouldn't take it that seriously.
@Noctislolig the original Gundam does what it sets out to do as does Psycho Pass S1, and arguably Hunter x Hunter and Kill la Kill. I would argue that FMAB doesn’t do that as it has a rushed beginning, two filler episodes that could have been replaced with better pacing and some poor joke timing not translating from the manga that well. So I don’t necessarily think that it qualifies
@Noctislolig I think Gundam has mass appeal, but yeah I think Hunter x Hunter would be pretty fitting despite my issues with the adaptation. I think you can argue Psycho Pass has the mass appeal needed, as the highest rated movie is The Godfather, and the highest rated TV show is Breaking Bad on IMDB and probably Letterboxd.
If I don’t have any emotions when watching a show I’ll just drop it even if I think it’s a good story I rather feel something watching Dangers in My Heart then not feel anything watching Fmab even if I think fmab is better written
I haven't seen Dangers, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was better written than FMAB. I have heard only great things.
thats hot
Lol
i have a anime hot take hot take Rahxephon is better than Neon Genesis Evangelion
No
As good as RahXephon is, I have to disagree.
