thanks for great video(s). I took a intro course a few years back and today bought my first 2nd hand board! will watch your videos to learn how to set it all up and what components i need to buy. because i am a mechanical 'purist' .. i would recommend when you tighten down a 2 bolt mast base, dont tighten each side to full tightness right away. go back and forth at least once to insure the 2 surfaces are mated flush (just like tightening lug nuts on a car) 😀

Very useful video. I am trying to find a sailing rig for my 11 yr old nephew but nothing fits our old Windsurfer One Design. Is there a retro mast-trick pin system that would work in the One Design's track? I have found smaller mast/boom rigs that could work for him if I get the correct mast foot.

Hello, thank you for sharing your videos, they really gave me hope for repairing my ancient boards. So with that said, I have a very old F2 strato (1979-1981...) and a mistral. Both need a base retrofit to fit either in the very wide track or into the board itself. The F2 connector in the track broke off. The Mistral still has the connector inside the track. I was wondering if there is an adaptor to fit in the larger track and tighten down. I also have some questions about the masts that can flex to fit the newer sails. The F2 and the Mistral both came with very stiff masts that do not bend. The F2 did flex until I bent it too far and snap it was gone. Both boards in spite of being very old still ride very nicely. So I am ok with adapting them instead of turning them into paddle boards. what are your thoughts. Thank you for your help.

So I got an old windsurfer at a tender center for $35. Thought it as a steal, then found out that it didn't have a mast base. The board is very old, I think 80's, and the board is a 'mistral competition SST'. I assume they are not manufactured anymore, so how can I find out how or what base to get? Should I look for things like diameter? help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have all the other parts, you will needs a standard diameter mast extension, and matching 1-bolt mast base. Also a conversion mast track brass plate. Here are some examples:
      1-bolt mast base: isthmussailboards.com/chinook-1-bolt-rubber-us.html
      Standard diameter mast extension: isthmussailboards.com/chinook-aluminum-sdm-extension-us.html
Conversion mast track brass plate: isthmussailboards.com/chinook-brass-slider-for-mistral-track.html
This last part is necessary as the mast track car and pin on Mistral SST is no longer made or parts available. The board is 1988 or older.

You can visit our website and determine if SDM or RDM mast. Then purchase the Base and Extension length / range you desire as long as they are both EP or US cup versions. These must match types.
