Grimdark style is very underrated for 40k painting and you are showing it doesn't have to boring or simple. Definietly a go to channel for me as a beginner!
Your black recipe from your black legion video helped me a lot in doing a grimdark iron hands model! It’s been a while since I’ve discovered a painter that truly captures my taste in painting and you helped inspire me to get back into the hobby after years of being away. Thank you for being such an awesome painter and thank you for all that you do for the painting and grimdark community!!!
Just finding Warhammer for the first time thanks to a friend at the gym. Been watching tons of videos trying to decide what I want to do for my first army. Your videos and painting style are my favorite. Keep em coming and I'm excited to watch the channel grow. Great work 💪😎
I've learned so many great things from your channel that have influenced the ways I like to comvert and paint my models, and I always look forward to what you'll show off next! This WB turned out mint, giving me some ideas for my Blood Angels 🤘
Your on GC, your main channel and almost 30k subscribers. Congrats man. Your videos are inspirational. Glad others see it also. This one is great, but the sister one you did on GC is awesome. It gave me great ideas.
Love your content. I'm just starting minature painting, and I really appreciate the simplicity of how you go about your work. My first Tyranids were based off your content, so thank you.
Love the clear red over metallic finish. It looks so good. I also love how you did those fabric pieces. I need to be more brave and add interesting details to my miniatures. Thanks for sharing!
Got into Warhammer for the painting a couple months ago after finding your videos and seeing how grimy and realistic it could be as the anime kind of bright edge highlights didn't jive with me, keep up the awesome work, so cool to see your techniques for weathering and kitbashing before even starting paint
Thanks for another great video. I'm slowly building up my confidence to use enamels and oils on my minis and your videos are definitely the reason for wanting to delve into this new realm.
congrats glad to see you getting close to 30k. Love your videos you're style is very similar to what i look for and similar to how I paint for my armies
I've had a bottle of that Tamiya Clear Red for years and years, after I saw some Renegade Guard with this incredible glowing eyes done using Clear Orange (which I got first and the red too as why not) and I've barely used it at all but now I've got an airbrush I think I might actually be able to make proper use of it.
I got that metallic effect for my Praetor for my Sons of Horus. I wont lie, it looks good. I've really enjoyed going for that metallic under painting with transparent paint over coats.
Been subscribed for quote some time now already :D Glad to see that more people are able to view your skillful and beautiful art! Thank you for sharing with us and keep up the brilliant work! xD
Thanks for showing how to do this without the airbrush step, I don't have the space to have one set up and I've been looking for a good colour scheme for my red corsairs, much appreciated!
Im apways so impressed and inspired by your painting style. I dont think i would have gotten back into painting if i hadnt watched (and promtly stolen) your tyranid recipes. I would love to see your take on some of the trench crusade minis if you have any interest in them
Dude I was literally just looking at my test model for my candy red word bearers kill team and I was like "hmm, looks good but not grimdark enough." The dark gods have answered my prayers
Great video as always Nate, you're always my go to for new techniques. Do you have any suggestions for where I can get Krautcover products? I've ordered from Firestorm before but they are having supply issues and can't say whether they will even get them in again
Loving the metallic red, will be combining some techniques from this video and your recent Black Legion video on my next War Dog Knights! Do you think you can make a similar effect as this red using Lahmian Medium and regular citadel paints? Keep up the awesome work!
Have you made a video or have a reference to making the purity seals/parchment with cheesecloth? Like is it as simple as cutting strips as desired and (I assume), soaking them in glue?
Yes u can always varnish for gaming. The oils and enamels wont cause any issues. Just with a varnish it will change the look of the finish. I like to blend matt gloss and satin on the minis. Such as for this the glossy armour contrasts nice against the matt of the enamels. However if i varnished that would change. If i were to varnish id recommend a satin varnish as this is an inbetween. This way your still be able to see whats going on but loose a little of the matt and gloss. But short answer would be satin. But just take into consideration the points mentioned ☺️☺️ hope that helps
U just made my day feral!!!!!!! Now could u do a painting tutorial for my legion pls. Imperial heralds :p . Seriously though I play imperial heralds...before they they were renamed and corrupted
A bit different this time with the candy red, but I like it! I love your videos and your channel is my go to as I learn the grimdark style. I'm looking for villany ink in Europe (not US or UKà), so if you have a link that suppots your channel, I'd love to use that.
Ok i havent see anyone dediczted to the great crusade legions as much as im addicted to them. But im 💯 on hoping you will make paint tutorials on those legions. Ill just lizt the legions i play and crossing my fingers u make tutorials how gounwould paint them. Ok, @TheFeralPainter , here we go: 1. 17th legion Imperial Heralds/pre-word bearers (my main legion i play -with the galvorbak and the tie in lore of argal tal and kharn lore) 2. 7th legion War Hounds /pre world eaters. My 2nd favorite legion of course 😅. The 7th and 17th legions ill always play. Not much of the 40k versions ..im strictly great crusade . From time to time i play them with their primarchs , but only pre legion renaming . 3. Storm Walkers /pre iron hands 4. Warborn /pre ultra marines before they reuinited with poppa smurf ; and i only play them as a chapter within the Warborn as in- the 22nd Nemesis Destroyers 30k version. 5. Dusk Raiders /before the most butt hurt-double standard primarch of all primarchs ruined them 6. 3rd Legion (just started on this legion recently)
I really want to kitbash some Plague Marines into Nurgle-corrupted Blood Angels (Dornian Heresy) and I really want to paint them in the grimdark style Also I've gave this video a like and have already been following you aswell

Awesome, thank you!
Never would have thought to use contrast paints over metallics. Thanks for the tip and congrats on getting to the 30k mark!
No problem!
Love how shiny yet gritty this turned out. Can't wait to see how you approach Alpha Legion eventually (especially with the recent rumor engine post).
Fingers crossed!
Love the clear red over metallic finish. It looks so good. I also love how you did those fabric pieces. I need to be more brave and add interesting details to my miniatures. Thanks for sharing!

Good to see you back! Great job as always
More to come!
You've taught me a whole new way to paint.
you did a really great job, u are a master of the grim dark style thanks you for ur tutorials ! already put a like even the video doesnt start

Really nice combination of techniques and products! I like the idea of „just“ drybrushing the leather parts
👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video! I like the cheesecloth purity seal idea, too!
Great recipe, love the atmosphere your style creates.
Glad you like them!
sick looking model, tempting me to try that starter kit.
Just got into using oils and I do want to try some more grimdark stuff like this.
Enjoy brother
Love the painting, best little channel for grimdarkness
Thank you so much 😀

Very cool!
You know when you see a paint scheme and it makes you want to start a new army? That happens a lot when I watch your channel.
Hahaha sorry 😂🙈
Happens every video..😆
I got that metallic effect for my Praetor for my Sons of Horus. I wont lie, it looks good. I've really enjoyed going for that metallic under painting with transparent paint over coats.
That is awesome!
I really love your painting style. Still haven't taken the plunge into enamels, but your are getting me closer and closer 😅
You can do it!
That has to be the best red I have seen in awhile
Thanks man

Coming soon!
Looks like this red recipe would work perfectly for pre-heresy Thousand Sons too.
Yes it does!
Nice red metallic, I'll have to try
Great video as always Nate, you're always my go to for new techniques. Do you have any suggestions for where I can get Krautcover products? I've ordered from Firestorm before but they are having supply issues and can't say whether they will even get them in again

@@TheFeralPainter Never used them but just getting back into the game so will have to check them out. Dang kids and their newfangled paints ;) Thanks!
might try this with a 30k Thousand Sons scheme, love it
Enjoy man
Amazing vidéo, as usual. But this one will be very useful for my metallic Exorcists.
Excellent work 👌I'm fascinating with your skin recipe. Is it the same process that you used on the black legion terminator ?
Yea u could use that
Have you made a video or have a reference to making the purity seals/parchment with cheesecloth? Like is it as simple as cutting strips as desired and (I assume), soaking them in glue?
Thats it. Or vallejo putty thinned with water
@@TheFeralPainter awesome, thanks.
Would love to see a Grimdark take on a Gundam some time. Maybe one ruined and blasted in some interstellar warfare
I would love to see some Alpha Legion. I'm sure you would kill it.
Thanks bro
🎉🎉 ty buddy. Great video! Beast!
Any time!
Do you finish your army painting with a varnish? If so, what do you recommend? I'm not sure how different finishes will affect enamels and oils.
Yes u can always varnish for gaming. The oils and enamels wont cause any issues.

Let’s get this man to 30k!
👌🏻👌🏻
Might steal the red recipe for some Vampire armour

Thank you! Cheers!
If you’re taking requests, Grim Dark Alpha Legion in Primaris clothes would be lovely 😅😅😅
Busy man, another vid!
My favorite legion.
There pritty cool and have cool lore
for the cloth parts do you use something like watered down pva glue or modge podge?
Either will work buddy. Or watered down vallejo putty
I'm about to start my 1st army. What would you say are better word bearers or world eaters. I have no ideas about anything
Depends if u want heresy or 40k. World eaters have some awesome minis!! Ther my fav.
@TheFeralPainter thanks I think I will go world eaters
I would LOVE to know how you make the cheese cloth bits!! also which model is this??
Heresy terminator
U just made my day feral!!!!!!!
Now could u do a painting tutorial for my legion pls. Imperial heralds :p . Seriously though I play imperial heralds...before they they were renamed and corrupted
Legit I'm serious feral. U already helped me figure out my word bearers paint recipe. I just need a imperial heralds version . (Hint hints hint 😂)
Still amazing, like usual !
Thank you! Cheers!
