Coming from a mechanical/industrial design background, I can tell you that these environments seem so purposeful and authentic. I can't wait until I'm virtually walking through them.
Purposeful is a very interesting term. As someone NOT from a mechanical/industrial design background, I can say that you still notice subconsciously when an environment in a video game is designed without purpose or just simply to look cool. I get the sense when watching this trailer, and in other Cyan games, that what we are seeing was concocted by a mind or a group of minds. I wonder how difficult it is to audit within a development team.
I love how the world of Firmament is highly stylized and at the same time totally plausible, thanks to the enormous attention paid to how these large buildings and metal structures would be anchored and supported in the landscape...but I guess that's a comment that could apply to any Cyan game. ;) More to the point, I'm so excited to see that Firmament has its own strong aesthetic. It doesn't feel quite like Myst, Riven, Uru, or Obduction, though it has clear traces of all those games in it.
There's something about all these worlds that just feels quintessentially "Cyan" to me. I could never really put my finger on what it is, but in every game they make there is this little something about the way everything is designed that just makes it feel like a Cyan game. This feeling dates back all the way to the original Myst and is one of the things that made me fall in love with their games back then. Can't wait to play this!
The world looks lived-in. Like, everything seems like it has a function instead of just being there to look 'cool'. Their ability to create fantastic places that somehow still feel grounded in reality and even somewhat plausible really sets Cyan above a lot of other developers. Been a fan since the original Myst, and I can't wait to explore this place! (That tramcar looks super cool and fun to ride)
Words fail. I’m overjoyed to see this wonderful new world that we’ll actually be able to explore soon. It looks magnificent, and it’s a thrill to see that the folks at Cyan are once again masters of their craft. Bravo!
Wow! Firmament looks amazeballs! The environments are so rich in detail, and so expansive! This is going to be quite a virtual adventure of wonder and surprise - cannot wait to immerse myself and experience it. Kudos to Cyan…the extended wait is certainly going to be worth it!
You all design things on another dimension. Those environments are incredible. I freeze framed just to look at the lamp in the beginning for crying out loud. Wonderful craftsmanship. More Please!
I have been waiting years for this game to come out and I absolutely love every sneak peek that you guys put out. The time spent waiting looks to be well worth it... You all do an incredible job building worlds with a meticulous eye for detail. I eagerly await the day that I can play your game.
I'm loving what I'm seeing so far! You've kept the aesthetic and feel of you previous worlds while still somehow making it fresh and new. Keep up the awesome work :D
I'm a backer, but I never actually saw this until now. Pretty awesome! I seriously cannot wait to play it, even if I have to wait two or three more years!
That is a staggering amount of work you have done. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I'm really looking forward to exploring the world of Firmament when it is released.
Was not sure whether I wanted to watch any of this being as the release is so close but couldn`t resist it and now really cannot wait to see it on my headset what a worthwhile wait - quite rightly a not rushed project I hope you make more as your are always the best.
Amazing as always! I can't wait to wander in these fascinating and mysterious worlds that only Cyan can build with such particular style. So familiar yet so fresh and new. Love it.
That looks so amazing! Huge factories, multiple transport systems, beautiful landscape, just cyan quality CG and I hope puzzles - can't wait to enter the world and start up the machines. If it gets anywhere near the quality of Obduction with a cool new base game mechanic then it'll fully be worth the wait.
I don't know what it is, what drives the Cyan mind to be like this, but there's a distinct, unmistakable Cyan thing to everything that comes out of that studio. It's like the greatest minds on this kind of stuff united there. I could stay meters away from the screen and still be able to tell this is a Cyan product. :))
So excited! I thank the good folks who are a part of this spectacular vision for all their continuation of hard work, methodical efforts, and creative minds. So many fans are ready for this. I, for one.
You are truly unique in creating dream worlds, complex, beautiful, with an exquisite taste for design. The desire I have to try this game is incredible. The reminiscences of Riven give me goosebumps.
Wow, this is looking really good. It is going to be hard to top Obduction, but if that is what you're aiming for then you're certainly on the right track!
Let me tell you... I've been a fan of Cyan since my first time playing Myst and then Obduction. It brings me to a state of bliss knowing that the company that made me think in another language is now creating a new world that is clearly perfect and full of new ways of challenging my brain. Thank you so much, Cyan, and all the people who made this new adventure. I can't wait to buy the game!
That sure is gorgeous. I've been thinking I want an art deco style feature in my kitchen, and I might have to take inspiration from the windows @ 5:15 and 8:20 They also evoke the feeling of mechanical drawings and blueprints, keen to see if that's used in the game or just extra appealing to my senses.
Ooh, another vehicle/contraption on rails, I love those. And I went "ooh" a few times watching this! Really glad I backed this, can't wait to yet again explore some Cyan worlds.
Those types of vehicles R quite certainly a must in a Cyan world. Or aren't they? 😜 I rather would have been shocked 2 NOT see one of em in Firmament. 😉
I see potentially impossible enigma's everywhere...and i love it :) Also the real time graphics reaching that realism of the prerender graphics is like the circle is closing.
Cyan builds worlds with respect to real world technology. I love their details, which feel devastating and sacred. The craftsmanship of the creators, developed in Myst, Riven, and Obduction, will take us to worlds we have never seen before!
If you had told my nine-year-old self that this was footage from a video game, she would have been struck dumb with reverence. Thank you for realizing the dreams of that long ago child.
I'll be 60 in a couple of years and still bursting with anticipation for this. When will I ever grow up? I feel already immersed in a totally believable world.
Isn't it great 2 never get enough of exploring a fictional world and dreaming of oneself smashing the borders of our realm? Talking of myself; I will never ever be 2 old for it. 😉 And btw; who says live itself is not just a giant game? That's @ least how I see it.
Those paths lit by streetlights of some kind; those towers that carry electrical cables; those mysterious constructions; those cable cars; those mechanisms that would have no meaning or purpose in "real" life; those tinkling melodies in the high register of a piano with lots of reverb. Cyan's games are always variations on the same thing and it's what all the fans are waiting for!!!
I'm trying not to look but it is incredible. I can't wait to see not only what the game looks like but the story which for me is what Cyan excel at. I'm sure you won't but don't release it until you're all happy! Go Cyan, here's to the future
Glad I backed this game. Looking forward to playing it. I downloaded the proof of concept files before they were removed from Steam... something to hold me over till the full game is released. 🙂

More purposeful than a tipped over rocket with a piano inside? ;)

Awesome job team. Can’t wait for release. Been a huge fan since 1993. Myst and Riven are still enjoyable to this day almost 30 years later.
It feels nostalgic and new at the same time. The 10yo in me playing Myst for the first time is waking up :) thanks Cyan for carrying on.
This environment is just ... wow. I can't wait to play it.
Words fail. I’m overjoyed to see this wonderful new world that we’ll actually be able to explore soon. It looks magnificent, and it’s a thrill to see that the folks at Cyan are once again masters of their craft. Bravo!
Everyone is saying, "take your time," but after seeing this I just want it NOW! Looks great, can't wait to walk through all these amazing places.

This is looking great - excellent work everybody at Cyan. Excited to play!

Can't wait. Hope it's VR ready from day one. All of your games need to be played in VR.
I think it was initially designed as just VR game. So, I am sure it is.
I have been waiting years for this game to come out and I absolutely love every sneak peek that you guys put out. The time spent waiting looks to be well worth it... You all do an incredible job building worlds with a meticulous eye for detail. I eagerly await the day that I can play your game.
I'm a backer and can't wait to play it. This looks beautiful and amazing.
I'm loving what I'm seeing so far! You've kept the aesthetic and feel of you previous worlds while still somehow making it fresh and new. Keep up the awesome work :D
Gorgeous environments as always. I love how you build your worlds.
YES. Already getting chills. The windows!
I'm a backer, but I never actually saw this until now. Pretty awesome! I seriously cannot wait to play it, even if I have to wait two or three more years!

looks awesome! worth the wait :) take your time, and thank you so much for creating this
Every frame looks like a painting! I love your work Cyan!
OMG. Cyan is back... Worlds that leave me witout words. Cheers guys !!
Simply stunning! Those textures! Leave it to Cyan to take my breath away as always. I anxiously await this release on pins and needles..
Amazing as always!

Wow love the variety in the environments. Thanks for sharing. This is my most anticipated game!

It's like the greatest minds on this kind of stuff united there. I could stay meters away from the screen and still be able to tell this is a Cyan product. :))
Looks great!!!! Take your time. We will be happy to enjoy a real authentic and awesome Cyan experience!!! A big fan Cyan since 1995!
What an absolutely incredible video and audio experience.
Absolutley stunning so far. I am a backer and i cannot wait to walk around and explore the landscapes :)
It’s like Riven & Obduction had a baby. It looks amazing. Is Firmament getting a 2023 release hopefully? 🥰✌🏻

So excited! I thank the good folks who are a part of this spectacular vision for all their continuation of hard work, methodical efforts, and creative minds. So many fans are ready for this. I, for one.
This is looking sweet. I'm going to love adding this to my puzzle collection, myst VR, obducted VR, now this.
Absolutely amazing. I can't wait to dive into this world. 🤩
Thank you for making games like this, Cyan! 🙏
You are truly unique in creating dream worlds, complex, beautiful, with an exquisite taste for design. The desire I have to try this game is incredible. The reminiscences of Riven give me goosebumps.

Wowwww.... this looks awesome. Puts me in mind of Obduction. I'm really looking forward to this. Thanks for the sneak peak.
It looks PHENOMENAL. I can hardly wait !!!
I'm really looking forward to this game! I really like the art deco type of style going on in this world, it is so neat looking!
Looks like it's coming together nicely!
I love what I see here, I don't want to get overhyped but I am failing miserably
Looks fantastic, team Cyan! Can’t wait to get my hands on this.
Love it! Especially the Art Deco windows. Can't wait! I want it NOW!
That sure is gorgeous. I've been thinking I want an art deco style feature in my kitchen, and I might have to take inspiration from the windows @ 5:15 and 8:20
They also evoke the feeling of mechanical drawings and blueprints, keen to see if that's used in the game or just extra appealing to my senses.
Reminded me of the window art in URU depicting plants and mechanics of different Ages.
Ooh, another vehicle/contraption on rails, I love those. And I went "ooh" a few times watching this! Really glad I backed this, can't wait to yet again explore some Cyan worlds.

Incredible! Absolutely cannot wait :)
can't wait to explore, only Cyan makes such intriguing and mysterious games
Thank goodness we still have you in the videogame industry.
It has that distinct lonely atmosphere that only Cyan can achieve. Looking forward to it.

Firmament: The Sequel to Riven
The levels of engineering and detailed mechanical sophistication are beautiful... the architecture will leave people completely dumb struck in VR!
8:10 Ah yes, the church of ties!
I love the art deco aesthetics.
please show more this looks so good
Can't wait to the day I can finally stroll around and explore
HOLY COW, LEmme have it now!!! Loooks amazing guys
I really need to make sure I have a VR headset when the game comes out. It looks amazing.
looking at this:; goosebumps !! 😃 cannot wait to play Firmament!!!
The quality of the numerous worlds that Cyan have pulled from their brain-boxes will never cease to surprise me!
I can’t wait to explore this!
Looks lovely.
Ancient relic world, waiting to be explored. Can't wait!
Almost like Frank Lloyd Wright designed those windows, so much like his style. 5:11
Very nostalgic of the worlds I used to click my way through as a child. I’m going to love this game
Wow this reminds me of the quality when Riven first came out...
Look very realistic ... great work. Excited to play indeed.
I D'ni-ven know what to say, it's just breathtaking 😍

Wow. This game will be awesome in VR.
Hey, new footage from Mystiny!
