One of the great things about this podcast is that it often reminds me how easy it is to misjudge a player or manager based on my own allegiance or how they come across on a match day. I never used to like Ainsworth, but I thought he was brilliant here.
Call me bias, but it’s hard to find many teams who have been more enjoyable to support than Wycombe over the past 10 years. Can only thank Gaz for that
Kttink is 100% correct, it is indeed spelt vexed with just the one x. I'd suggest you double check this .. very silly to correct a spelling that was right. Different to 'vaxxed' ..
Such an authentic and likable character is Gareth. Great episode and refreshing after having to skip the Troy "Harvey Price lookalike" Deeney episode's.
Everyone loves Gareth here in Wokingham, absolute top bloke, stops and speaks to everyone. Always happy to give advice to anyone in the game who needs it ❤
Perpetrator of the worst challenge I've ever seen on a football field. Ended the career of Dane Whitehouse. Dane stated recently that Ainsworth has never apologised. Maybe Dane's dog ate the letter Ainsworth allegedly sent.
The comment on would a rockstar want to be a footballer and vice versa at the start can be summed up by an interview with Shane Warne where they said "Elton John said if he could be any other person in the world, he would pick you" and Shane Warne replied "yeh, Mick Jagger said the same thing to me once too"
Good manager/ player . People take the piss way he acts and looks. he’s done well as a manager with wycombe . Stepped up obviously wasn’t to be but he knows the level he can be at but sounds like decent bloke. Fair play to him had good career and can still manage at decent level with right players

His band used to play in the Brookhouse, being from Northolt all my mates were QPR fans so got dragged along to listen to them. They still go on about the Ibiza Cup win as well 😂
Sorry guys, I can't wait for your content to air, but I can't watch this man. His attitude towards Dane Whitehouse following his career ending tackle was disgusting. See you next week
Many years ago I wrote to Lincoln Citys chairman, pleading not to sell Gareth, I was so upset at all the rumours of him going. What a muppet I was 😉. What a player.
Just listening to this fella harping on, thinking 'I know that voice', and for a wee bit there I could have sworn it was that git from 'The Fast Show' that always went 'Brilliant!'
Seems a really good bloke i didnt rate him at QPR but what he did at wycombe was unreal . If i remember right one of my first ever games was Sheffield Wednesday 1 Vs 3 QPR and qpr went on to win the 03-04 division 2 title ?🦉
@@npc-np7dc I remember there were about 7k QPR and I remember Paul furlong and I think Marc bircham scored I was only about 10 then but only seen the away end totally full like that when QPR came and Sheffield united back in 06. But what a team QPR were in div 2 that year
Gareth Ainsworth was a special wide player. He was good enough to play as an international. I believe he may have been the worst nightmare for right backs and right midfielders.
Fantastic winger. Remember hearing he might have been eligible for Scotland back in the day. 100% should have call up if so. Terrible Scotland team in the early 2000s and he was an absolute nightmare for full backs.
It's also the way this animal ended Dane's career. Full force, studs showing, knee high assault from the side. No-one goes in to win a ball like that. Totally intentional. It's 27 years on and he still hasn't been man enough to go and see Dane. Ainsworth is trash.
Seems a nice guy, but it's hard not to agree with the comments re Whitehouse. It's baffling why he didn't go and see him, or at least ensure that received a letter/call. He owns that to be fair to him, and you'd like to think that he'd do it differently if he had the chance. Enjoyed this one
Stop crying. We'd been in the top 6 all season apart from what turned out to be the final weekend of fixtures, when we didn't have a game. We'd been due to play Bury, but they had been kicked out of the league. No-one came up with a better plan than points-per-game, and that's what the majority of other clubs voted for. More fair than Wycombe missing out because another club had one more point because of getting to play one more game.
@jasonuk8333 not crying kiddo loads of teams were drawing points with Wycombe but u guys went up bc of goal difference it could have easily been a different story if they didn't cut the season short 😂 it's just facts

Why because he's different ffs
Genuinely my favourite vale playerever. Was my hero growing up and cried my eyes out when he left after a year but it felt like a lifetime!
As a Shrewsbury fan I'm looking forward to this.

I think this is in my top 2. Wasn't expecting Gaz to be like that. He's a real class act. That was quality.
Do you think he wrote that letter? What do you think?
@@nigelwatson2750 absolutely not. Yeah my dog ate it.
Maybe he used the wrong postcode.
It was an horrendous assault. Thoroughly intentional. He still hasn't apologised 27 years on.
Hope it's another good one

It's hard to even look at this "individual" after what he did. And with no remorse, no empathy and no apology.
Think this is my favourite ever episode, top bloke!
I was Gareth’s YTS boot boy at Port Vale in 1998. He was a top lad, great player and very humble

When did you start using the word "vexxed". I spelt it properly for you aswell
One google search will tell you I’ve spelt it right mate but okay. Someone’s clearly ‘vexxed’ x

Seems like an honest decent guy- good solid career player and manager.
What a top top geezer this bloke is!!
Still a twat for what he did to Dane Whitehouse.
He's lying when he says it wasn't intentional. A knee high challenge is hardly going for the ball.
He didn't even apologise either.
What a top man Gareth is. Best of luck at Shrewsbury. UP THE ROVERS! 🔵⚪️
